When I was a kid, my father was successful at his craft and owned a yatch, we would go to Los Roques twice a year with the family and guests. Back in those days I didn't know the privilege I had. There is something primordial about the archipielago, it's like traveling back in time a few geological ages and being able to witness the flora and fauna you see on enciclopedia illustrations, it's unreal. By the way, you and I are accomplices in making my mom cry.

I’ve been there once and I can safely say it’s a paradise. The islands are so modest that there are no streets or cars. It’s a good place to stay when you want to take a break from loud society.

Venezuela is not only what the media says about it, you have to be careful of course, but you can go without any problem, do not believe on everything the TV says, if you want to go to Los Roques, go and you will love it, just buy everything with a travel agency and you will be fine, and if you know someone that you trust in Venezuela that can help you if would be better...but believe me it is not Syria as everybody thinks!
Adolfo De Jesús thanks for the advice. I’ve booked a trip to Colombia and am visiting San Andres and Providencia. Los Roques looks more beautiful though. I tried persuading my friends but it’s was in the too hard basket lol

For fellow Americans, I have heard from travel agents that is NOT safe for Americans to travel to Los Roques. Check with your travel agent before booking room reservations and flights.
