I love how Tesla now has solar panels that can look like
regular roof shingles. Those older style panels were eye sores.
An energy efficient home or business is more comfortable and saves money in the long run.
Solar energy on your roof combined with battery storage can make people more independent from the grid and natural gas supplies. Add solar and supplemental electric heating, infrared heating or a heat pump for home or business heating..
All big box stores and manufacturing sites can support solar energy on their roofs or parking lots.
Added insulation, double or triple glaze windows, energy efficient doors, energy efficient heating and cooling systems, energy efficient appliances, LED lighting, smart thermostats, solar panels combined with battery storage and a electric vehicle charger in the garage or car park. People are too focused on the short term costs and miss out on long term savings and comfort. Blower door testing and air sealing are under appreciated tools.Even if you have money to burn you should not waste it. Climate Change will impact everyone. Leave a better future for your children and grandchildren. Join in and speak up for the future of the planet

Always have enjoyed watching the property brothers. We were fortunate to deal with builders that were hands on. Building a home is stressful but our builders (two brothers too!) were wonderful.

I have questions about the pipes or duct work. How to keep them clean …from build up of anything (scales for pipes, muck in the ducts ). I’m completely in the dark. But so far one company came out and sprayed something in our ducts to kill any mold that might have accumulated over the years ( I’m in a humid southern Florida coast) . Home built 1976. Same for water pipes (buried). How do we know if we are getting great water? We have reverse osmosis from sink only.

Hi Jonathan, is it possible for you to maybe do a video of the cost of each tech devices, what each one does in more detail? etc. You scratched over the surface. Or if it is too much, maybe give the names of the reliable and reputable companies that do these things so we can get a better picture of what to work with. I love eco friendly environments and am all for it even though tech is scary sometimes because if you push the wrong button, well... you know what I mean. : )

I think I'd have decided that if the house had made it that long without earthquake-proofing, I'd rather keep the original features rather than tearing the walls down and duplicating them.
That is where you do you and not tell someone else what to do! Every human is different and unique and we all get to decide what works for us. They wanted earthquake proofing why not! Sorry if I am being too straight forward. I just hate judgemental attitude.
Remember, this is their forever home. While they were at that point in their reno, that was the best time to do it. This is THEIR home and it makes them more comfortable to forever live there, with these special details done.
