  • Though it might not feel calming at first, shoulder stand is a great inversion that allows your body and nervous system to settle as you near the end of your practice. Learning how to do it properly will help you access those restorative benefits!
In this tutorial, we show you how to do SALAMBA SARVANGASANA \ SUPPORTED SHOULDER STAND from Ashtanga's Closing Sequence Series. You’ll learn the traditional vinyasa cues as you see how to get into this pose with a lot of guidance and step by step direction. You’ll understand why we want to bring elbows in towards each other and how to do so, where to place your hands, and how to align your hips above the shoulders. You’ll also learn where and how to distribute the weight so you’re not collapsing into the neck, with modifications to create more space there. We’ll show common mistakes and how to avoid them so you can practice safely.
WHAT SHOULD WE MAKE NEXT? 🎥

I've done a lot of real-life yoga classes and online videos as well, and nowhere before have I seen this level of thorough explanation of how to actually do poses correctly. I don't think it's as helpful if the teacher just adjusts your body without explaining, whereas with your instructions I can actually self-correct and self-improve. I wish more yoga teachers would go there as part of their classes ✨ Thank you!

I use at least 3 folded blankets at the top of my mat for my shoulders and it helps keep my neck natural curve. Most people would benefit from that.

The tip about pushing your hips forward and your feet back is so helpful! I feel like I can never get the alignment just right but this will help me make a better mental checklist when in the pose.

Started Ashtanga 6 months ago and this pose was just added to my practice (along with the rest of the shoulder poses). After 3 breaths, my left hand and forearm started tingling more and more. They remained numb for the rest of the day! I’m nervous about doing it again but based on your excellent explanation, I think I might be collapsing on my neck (and spinal cord), and will work on that. Thank you!!

Thank you for this excellent tutorial. I can do this pose with less than perfect form fairly easily, but very few tutorials are as clear as yours in explaining what I need to do to improve my form and what restricts me from achieving this.🙏

thank you so, so, so much for your excellent videos!!! I am watching the alignment tutorials on the primary (half) series asanas religiously many times to practice at home in a healthy way.
If you could come around to matsyasana and uttana padasana also, I would appreciate it a lot because i am unsure about the placement of the head and the position/feeling in the back.
thank you a million for this amazing resource! 🙏💟 you guys are wonderful!!!

Jelena, da li mozete jedan video posvetiti znojenju? Zanima me iskustvo i saveti profesionalaca u situacijama proklizavanja, ispadanje iz poze usled znoja, nekad bude tesko uhvatiti palac itd. Mozda je smesna tema ali dosta cesto mi pravi problem pri vezbanju. Od velike ste mi pomoci pri samostalnom prakticiranju joge, hvala puno.

Love the quality content on the channel! I liked the depth and detail, very helpful to deepen a practice and make it yours.
I would love to see more in-depth explanation on specific asanas, how to get into the pose correctly, what signs and sensations to look for in the body to confirm that you are doing it right. Especially if you cannot attempt the full pose yet, due to strength or flexibility constraints, you can still do the baby versions of them with confidence that you are doing it right.
A lot of the time I hard to follow a fast paced and physically challenging Ashtanga sequence, knowing that there are specific poses that I am not doing completely correctly, but not having the knowledge or know-how of how to self correct in those positions.
