      dean r It is quite astonishing when you realise how long they've been in service at this point, but I think it's thanks to recent interior refurbishments that these T sets have still been able to compete with say, the Waratahs. T sets almost suggests they look like a product from much later than the late 80's, considering the marketing SRA (State Rail Authority) was pushing at the time the T sets were first being promoted.

    I think the t sets hasn't caught up with the h sets A sets & m sets.in a long time.cause they been old trains then.& it's hard to hear guards announcements when there was no desto board inside the train.
    But it would ve costed a lot of money to upgrade the trains to modern standards.& take longer with the testings.it wouldn't surprise me if the t sets competed with the modern sets.
    I would actually would like to see these t set in full use of these upgrades by the time it's completed in a year or two.

    Why all the upgrades on the Tangaras? Is it similar to the Oscars which are being replaced by the new interurban fleet, so more moving to suburban operation?
    It feels like such a waste to me (the oscars being converted) because they only (semi) recently got the intercity packages (seats with headrests etc.), and I'm fond of the idea of having two different (significantly distinct) versions of the same series. Don't get me wrong, I recognise having different designs for different purposes is great, but I'll miss the V sets, converted Oscars and Tangaras.

    • @nicholetheotter1957

      kaelan Grisdale They will likely be on the Northern, North Shore and Western Lines first, as the drivers over there are more used to Waratahs and the new T set consoles are said to be more similar to the ones used on a Waratah. They will progressively roll onto the Eastern Suburbs and Illawarra Line later as drivers are more properly trained over there, as they're only familiar with T sets.

      Transport Vlogs It might be the same voice that Waratahs use, since it is getting information screens in the B sets’ digital display. Went this update going on T4 lines

    • @nicholetheotter1957
      @nicholetheotter1957 4 года назад +3

      VJ 4126 It will mostly roll out onto the T1/T9 lines first as each upgraded set is done, as those lines run drivers who are used to Waratah controls which the new Tangara driver consoles will probably be modelled off. T4 line drivers only get Tangaras and are only trained for those sets and nothing else, so they will roll out sets on the T4 line after they have been trained enough for T1/T9 drivers.

      Half of the Tangaras on the T1/T9 are the Mortdale Tangaras since last week, maybe the Hornsby ones are getting the updates so maybe the last of them are going to be for the T4

    • @nicholetheotter1957
      @nicholetheotter1957 4 года назад

      Sydney Traveller Vlogs That’s my thought. It would make sense to do Hornsby sets before the Mortdale ones as the Sector 1 drivers are only familiar with Tangaras, and since their new consoles will look closer to that of a Waratah, it’d make sense Sector 3 drivers get retrained first considering they’d be familiar with Waratahs.

    And also Shawn Mendes concert at Qudos Bank Arena for two nights which actually makes this trackwork very worth it as it removes the need to change at Lidcombe (I guess maybe they made buses and trains go up to Olympic Park for this reason).
