VIDEO DESCRIPTION:
Sammy and her pup Charlie have been living full-time in a 2001 Dodge Ram with a 1983 Sun Lite pop-up camper! The entire setup cost her 13k, including some original components and a few upgrades. The original fridge is still installed, but out of service, so it's now an extra pantry space! Although there's a spot for the proper camp toilet, she uses it for storage and prefers the outdoors as a bathroom. Samantha loves books and displaying art, which shows in her Camper. To save on overall expenses, she travels cautiously with fuel prices in mind and chooses to stay put when there's great weather and beautiful scenery!

Awesome for you, honey good luck,God bless, and keep you
🤗
Super impressive! I’m a 70 year old grandmother and I want to do this so much.
I love that not everyone has to have everything new and panted! What a change. I love your home.
Agree this lady is down to earth and does not have that 'everything for show' mindset like you see in some of these videos.
but ... what about Granite sink tops ?? "haha"
I like the fact she’s not shoving a $125,000 rig in your face and trying to talk you into buying this brand or that brand. Nice setup, be safe, enjoy your youth it passes to quickly.
Adorable camper! Cute dog! Nice to have someone not sugarcoat everything.😊
Omg, the way Charlie looks at her when she talks🙌🏽🙌🏽🥰 Gotta love dogs…Love her rig. Love that it’s vintage😊
I love the 60s and 70s era. I recently down sized my home from a 2400 to 799 home building in 1945. I purchased a new furniture from 1930. I love it
Thst sounds lovely I like the older furniture.
She's a good soul, dig the camper.
I too work a 9-5 and seeing that you’re living in a truck camper is very encouraging!
Most definitely!
I like her! Love that she cares abt the environment! Kudos girlie!
I admire how you have adapted your life to your environment and the limitations of the camper you have. Not everyone would be willing to do that. Best of luck to you. I found myself wishing you could upgrade to more comfort. Diane
She did what she had to do, and it is admirable. Most people instead would be expecting family members to finance them for when they come up short. she instead, found a way to cut her expenses. Bare bones, yes, but she is not beholden to anyone.
@@peachygal4153 Yes, she did do what she felt she had to do and as I said, I admire how she has adapted. I still hope that as time passes, she will be able to upgrade to more comfort without being beholden to anyone. For now, not being beholden to anyone means so, so much to her.
@@peachygal4153 And she sounds like she and her cute doggie really love their 70s style home, as I do too.
@@jimmiepatrum She is definitely on the upswing.
Love the idea she went with considering this idea after i sell my home i rather live at peace than worried about bill struggles and a lot of that going on for a lot of people so amazing to see others living affordable
Not going to have any choice soon. Look at hoe the average person could have everything fairly easily in the 50s. 2 cars, a house, TV sets. All new.
Not anymore.
We need starter houses that are reasonably priced, for working people. Not people who never live one day in them. And aren't even citizens.
I converted a promaster and it’s the best decision I’ve ever made. I mainly live in Laguna beach now and it’s sublime
I’d yank that old fridge out and she will have more pantry room. Lovely to see how younger peeps like that 70’s vibe.
The way the dog was looking at her when she was telling us what she do! Lol!!!!!
She needs an orange carpet, avocado green fridge, Tupperware bowl set, and yellow canister set…LOL
Yes! That would make it very 70s! LOL! 😃
The carpet has to be shag tho😂
😂😂😂 oh my gosh. My elementary years
Sad most of that stuff is loaded with an extremely high amount of lead...Home Depot sells inexpensive test kits in paint.
Lol…reading this took me back to my childhood. *shudders*
I like your home and the fact that it’s not crammed floor to ceiling with stuff. It looks neat and ordered and that’s what I like myself. You seem like a nice person so I wish you the best.
We have a hook on the lid with a chain and a hook on the wall to hold up any cover. It prevents accidents.
Except for the bathroom aspect (the lack thereof) I could go for this. We currently have an off-grid situation in our "camper" (a tiny-home-on-wheels that used to be a Bantam Flyer camper) so we are also doing the 12V solar thing, using the same fridge (Alpicool) and have running cold water (two 15-gal tanks filled from a rooftop collection system). No flowing hot water. Has to be heated on the stove. Compost toilet which is just a 5 gallon bucket set in a nice cedar box, with a toilet seat and a urine-separator. Ours is four season so we have a tiny 12" cube wood stove. It's comfy even at 10 degrees below zero (Fahrenheit). It's only 98 sq ft and we are living in it nearly full-time while we plan and build out cottage (200 sq ft).
She didn't show the actual bathroom. She just talked about it. That is actually a pretty neat little unit. It should have a toilet and a shower. There should have been a track on the ceiling above where you pull the shower curtain around the inside of the toilet area and you would shower. The walls should fold down when not in use but she's using it as a closet.
Great for you talking about no trace!
Love your camper set up and the interior is so comfortable and homely particularly the seat cushions. You dog Charlie looks like a lovely companion and probably loves evert minute of his long walks. Best wishes to you and Charlie and keep safe xx
This is one of the best I have ever seen. Better than the new ones.
Well-spoken, intelligent young lady.
Enjoyed the tour.
(Charlie is such a cutie. He was patiently letting his mom do the interview.)
She’s young and free! Good for her! Have fun and keep safe!
I liked how honest you were
Stay safe stay happy and blessed ! Admire your bravery to live in a camper with a canvas roof. I wouldn't do that because I am scared of break ins and stuff. Take care !!
I love this. Its comfortable, compact, organized, and low key.
You need to get a composting toilet
I had a slide in camper and really liked it, we just upgraded to have more room but I do miss it
I have a Sun Lite pop up camper and love it! I keep the dinette area in bed mode all of the time and have attached a swing out table to the wall of the bathroom that swings over the foot of the bed. This works well for me but I don't live in my camper full time. Since I don't have a shower I removed the hot water heater to give me more storage space. I heat up water on the stove for dishes and cleaning up. Thanks for the tour!
Thank you so much for sharing your homes on wheels. It looks really great. Wish you the best with mini mini years of fun travel with Charlie. Blessings.💜
I spy some Edward Abbey, nice! Can never have too many books, or tools.
I hv lived this life style most of my life been though about a dozen different vans and camper , I'm now 81 and still do and enjoy 😉
Good morning from Godley Texas, great in-depth presentation. Thanks for sharing 😎
You are amazing! I divorced 6 years ago and this summer I will decide either to cash out from the sale of the house or buy the other half. I already bought a 2015 White Water retro RV in case I take the RV life. Not as brave as you.
Awesome truck camper. My dad had one yrs ago I remember the Chevy pickup truck he had & used it to haul that camper. We did a road trip in it . We drove from Dayton Ohio out to Los Angeles California way back in the mid eighties. Stay safe. Your very fortunate you get to work remotely.
Perfect setup for you! 🙂 Love your charm, and personality! You would be so fun to hangout with. You seem to have a great system along with the realistic view and expectations that allows you to adapt and overcome adversity. I wish you the best of luck! Please stay safe out there!! 🙂
Thanks for video
I appreciate your honesty about living on the road. Have fun with it. Thank you for posting.
Wow, great setup!! You’re amazing and very thoughtful with all the details in your home!! I love it and I love Charlie! God watch over you and bring you many blessings🙏🏻
Love your attitude and choice of lifestyle !
My son and I spent the winter in New Mexico in our little vintage class B RV boondocking at New Mexico state parks for free after buying a year pass. The beauty of it was..we had access to a dump station, water and showers. There are several parks close by each other and we would move between them every two weeks. Saved on gas. Down side New Mexico gets a bit colder at night.
So proud of my girl!
She seems like an extraordinary and kind young lady. Wishing you all a happy 2023!
"So you can see more of my life and Charlie's life" aw that pup is so loved 🐕
I love your setup. I had a Palomino just like that from the late 70s. Had so much fun in that thing! I miss it.
From a fellow truck camper: you (and your setup) are sublime!
I absolutely love your cozy little home. They don't make lovely patterns and use colors like they used to. I don't think the RV industry even knows the word cozy any more. That's a neat little bathroom setup when used like it's supposed to be. I love the paintings you have too. You should remove the old fridge completely and put your new fridge in. You can cover it with wood grain contact paper 😊 And you should build a couple of spice racks where your note board is. I love the old patterned material and the little bit of wallpaper (or is that material? With the orange flowers...) It's just lovely! Takes me back to a really good place...🥰
Great looking rig!
We live full time in an older RV, an 86 fleetwood. We plan to upgrade her instead of buying new. You have some great ideas I've added to my list. A very nice video, thank you. :)
Thanks
Very cool camper.Great story.I admire this woman for living life her way.
I don't think a lot of these are independence so much as necessity. Namely the toilet issue.
I understand your need for sun.....a very honest presentation. Very graceful.❤️
Cute camper, ADORABLE dog :)
Awesome setup, looks like you are living how you choose to, and applaud you for that. Be careful out there, and may your journey continue to be a very fulfilling experience.
Really impressed me that you have kept your camper simple with basic upgrades and improvements. Very practical approach as opposed to some who have to have every new thing and spend thousands. Very smart of you.
Thanks for the share. I enjoyed your video. Enjoy yourself but be careful out there.
Very cool! For toilet you can also get a fold down portable toilet to use inside your rig which uses bags that you can throw away. Be safe out ther and enjoy!
Very enjoyable video! I wish you and Lil Charlie much success, love, peace, and happy travels. I subbed! 🙂
Great job! Best wishes!
Three things I got from this video
1… she is a wonderful person
2…older campers/rv’s were built better
3….she is awesome
You go girl! People now a days are so throw away. You rock! 💝
Thank you for saying no trace
Nice camper setup. The stick is cute but you might want to get a metal pro that hooks into something so it can’t come off. Imagine having a boiling hot pot of soup and that top comes slamming down. You’re a sweet soul, stay safe
Where did you find the used camper?!
Montana is cold right now. -22°F and I was trying to fix my mom's car doors that were frozen open. I just uploaded a short of the heat gun cord from Harbor Freight exploding in my face.
Always a great day when you drop a video 🙂🙂🙂. My routine is watching your videos while I do dishes lol. Luv from 🇨🇦
That's so awesome! Thanks for watching. :)
@@TinyHomeTours my pleasure, I really appreciate all your content ☺️
Nice setup .. I have a similar camper & the heat/cold/side flapping I've pretty much solved .. U can buy 1" foam board which gives stiffness, insulation & makes it easier to warm up & stops the Flapping but no natural light OR Clear Bubble Wrap Roll, again cut to size, Double or triple thickness & it insulates, lets in natural light, but U still get some flapping .. Make a paper template for the Sides, Bed area & Rear .. Cut Foam Board/Wrap to size .. Add Velcro & attach .. I like the Bubble Wrap best because it stores smaller .. Like U I have Extended Cab & I removed the rear seat & it's my garage.. Happy Travels 😊
Thanks for the video. Now I understand the pop up is not good for cold weather.
Wow, that is awesome. Great job
Lovely rig. You must have Irish ancestors with a name like McGowan. My guess is they came from either Sligo or Leitrim. My mother was from Co. Leitrim in a little village called Dromahaire. Safe travels when you do and will follow you. 😺🍀💚💚🍀🍀😺😺
Love that, simple way of life, you are completely free, just I 'd like to add 2 observations if you do not mind, first it is good idea to have 2 fire extinguishers,(if you do not at the moment) one out, another in near the door and hope you replace the oven cover support stick with a metal rod, hope you are always safe and happy.
Born and Raised in Montana. I certainly don't want to be in Montana for winter. Very cold. We just got a lot of snow. I recently had a Total Hip Replacement on both of my hips. Once I heal more, I plan to build a Square-Drop camper and be a Snow Bird.
Awesome video
She seems cool. Great rig. Safe travels.
Awesome rig, Awesome Life!🤩🐕🌟
REALLY NICE
the dog on the bed made me smiling!
Lovely artwork
Awesome
The good stuff EVOO😊
She has figured it all out. Respect.
Had fun pausing the video to check out the titles on yur book shelf... lol
Coolest camping truck
I like the way you explain about your tiny house and I 💕 charlie he look like my snauzher 🐶 named KILI
Keep on trucking take 😘 care
From the outside, we didn't think her camped truck would look like a grandmother.
inside I love it makes different from the others.👍
Beautiful
Love the rig and its a great home to have 🙂
If you make insulated currens with reflectix you will find it warmer at night.
I really like your pop-up camper and your cute dog! I couldn't find you on IG.
@samanthamcgowan
I went to it an unfortunately it is set to private. :(
very cool
Love it
Grew up in a camper like this lol. Love it. My only pet peeve (and this is for everyone, not just her) is the term "Van Life/Lifer"... Not a van, and no where near the same to live in. This setup is way more comfortable.
Now that is a truck camper I wouldn’t mind living in. Great video!
we had one of those pop ups and we hated it crawling in and out of the door no toilet cold the heater didnt work well when it rained it sounded like a tin can good luck
It gets cold in ALL the states in winter, except south Florida. Gets down to 30's even in southern Arizona!
No cold here in Hawaii.
where in AZ? Im in Tucson. Have fun.
GROOVY!!!
I would need a bathroom and shower. I can't imagine pooping outside in a hole in the ground. Otherwise she has a good set up.
Nice
I love your little home! Maybe you would like a compost toilet in place of the cassette toilet?
Camper looks very nice & organized.
Good go girl lol
Sounds like a nice balance. Best wishes
adorable dog!
Love the furry friends we meet on the road! 🐶
