We made a basement playground for our kids out of 2x4s and plywood!
They love it! Check out how we built it in this video. Plans for this playhouse are here - ana-white.com/2... Enjoy! Ana
love it!
I also think the fact you put so much effort and thought about this build, which is especially for your kids, shows the your kids they have a place in this house/world.
Thanks! We hadn't thought of that! Good point!
Once again, you two knocked it out of the park! The design is well thought out. There are so many options. It can be a fortress, lots of reading nooks, and exercise. An imaginative mind could turn that space into all sorts of adventures. This is definitely an idea to keep on file!
That is Fantastic Ana, The secret pass through was a neat idea, Kudos
Thanks! Glad you like it!
Wow such an amazing idea! Best house on the block for sure! Great way to keep your kids having good clean fun at home.
you guys are the best parents
+Franky Barrez Thank you, we have a long winter inside here in Alaska, gotta keep the kids active!
Awesome! You both are such good parents.
Great job building it! I like to build things myself. I'm also a girl. I'm glad that you are building it from scratch and posting it on youtube. It shows how great women can be.
I love that you didn't go easy on your little one while playing chicken. That was adorable and a valuable lesson that mom is strong!
😊 thank you
I would have LOVED this when I was a kid! What a great idea and that secret tunnel is a nice idea! Your little ones sure are lucky kids! :)
They love it!!! Thanks so much!
Thts really awsone .and a good use of a room. I love the secret tunnel
Que imaginación...!!! Fácil y sencillo para principiantes. Gracias Ana.
Great way to keep them busy with exercise! Fun!
YES, thank you for the visit!
OK, this is really cool but I wonder, is this splinter city or the never ending sanding job?
It's not getting weathered.
Sanding and some PU coating will do the trick. Plus if you want to color paint minimal sanding would do.
so great! I would've loved something like this when I was a kid! heck, I'd love it now haha
They still haven't gotten tired of it after 2 years, one of the best decisions! Thanks for watching:)
Great project. I'm wondering about the plywood, did you verify if it is safe, I read about formaldehydes and it made me worried
What a great project! Your little one loves the tunnel. She's so cute, just like her mommy!
I just subscribed, now to binge watch your vids.
Thanks George!
Cover it with carpet pad and carpet so you don't have to worry about banged up knees and little bones hitting the hardwood and they can run and jump and play and not worry about it
Thanks for the visit, great tip!
Looks so nice... Any ideas for a outside playground?
are you still using it? its amazing for quarantine 😀
Any chance I can get a material list on that project ? Like about how many 2x4s and such you need . Seriously considering doing this soon !
Very cool. I want one.
Awesome playground:)
this is really wonderful!!
Thanks for watching!
What was your total cost and time of construction?
My husband and I build something similar for our children, we spent a total of 1K. Well worth the money if you ask me, hours of fun for them, but we also added a slide with a ball pit at the end. Hope this helps!
Sarah3772 I would love to see some pictures or video. Sounds awesome!
Awesome build. What PC Program do you use for designing? Thank you for the video
Google Sketchup, thanks for the visit!
Thanks, you're a star.
Hi Ana! Do you think this would work in a basement with a drop ceiling? It is only 6’9” tall. And if so, would you make the top ceiling lower or the “platform”/floor lower? We really want to make this for our daughter for Christmas if you think it will work :)
Did you do it I would love to know how it went… I’m trying to do the same thing.
This is awesome!
Thank you!!
Wow I literally need that I'm hipper 👍
+Star Kayz Thanks for watching!
Very cool
Thanks!
Are you going to do this or something similar in the dream house you are building?
+Mine Mine the kids are already planning something!
Ana White Hope you do a video...please! Our family loves your videos :)
Wow
I couldn’t really hear you... but it looks fun!
You should sign her up for gymnastics while she's still pretty young, she would do well
She is very active! Thanks for watching:)
asome
Couple goals, I want a boyfriend who will do things like this with me
Nice!:)
LOL, My wife won't help me & she told our kids not to help me with any carpentry projects.
My wife yells at me, too, so I always have a carpentry project going on which she hates, but she won't give me sex so I keep busy by making tables or painting in the living room.
Our house always looks like it is being remodeled.
I just tell Ana that it takes me a long time to finish painting or building things because I don't have any help.
My wife is also named Ana.
I will get a divorce in 2 more years. I've only been waiting for our son to be 16 years old because that's when the judge lets the child choose with whom he wants to live with.
Please test out all your potential boyfriends by building at least a table together.
Don't marry him if he quits or starts yelling at you.
Daniel Caron how is the situation going
Well be a nice woman and maybe you will attract the right guy.... and actually keep him
que bonito..
Will you adopt me? I am 25 but that looks fun!
Jamie G Sure, haha! It is fun!
those two areas left were they stop to get of the monkey bars could be a bed.
Great idea! I wonder where you got that idea from! 0:55

When I took my 6 year old to play park today it was too cold. When I returned home I realized our living room is rarely used. so better to convert it into a play area...
Searched RUclips, once again you inspire me....
Thanks. I will post mine once I get it done.
You make it look so easy to do. Lol. Thanks for sharing
How much did it cost?
7yrs ago "good thing their cheap"
Yeah... Thanks for the visit!
Haha. 2x4s used to be cheap. In Joeconomy now you can sell your playhouse for a small fortune! Nice investment.
Masha'Allah!! How cool is that!! I want one too, my kids will go wild! :) I love your videos. You've been inspiring me for years and finally I got to buy my first tool set. lol
What a wonderful concept and excellent use of materials, well done Ana...
Thanks!
Are there any sketchup plans for this?
Long winters with her would be impossible to get anything done.
Even as a thirteen year old boy, I'd love this, of course I'd want no stairs or bridge and more spaces and climbing areas and more spaces in the monkey bars, you know, stuff that you could get hurt on (for a chalenge) but yeah, I might get my father to help me build a bigger modified version of this!
+PootisPigeon I hope you do, be sure to share!
I'm definitely gonna do this at my basement!!
Kids still love it! Thanks for watching:)
+Ana White OK ur welcome
And how i
Love it!!! where can i get the floorplan?
Ана, если я правильно понял, Вы решили сделать большой проект :)
This was quite the project for sure! Thanks!
Now a $30000 bedroom. Nice job.
Now how fun is that! Very awesome Anna.
Thank you!
I'm watching this in 2022 and I laughed so hard when she says..."good thing they're cheap". She was talking about 2x4's. 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 I paid $6.50 for one 2x4....the wood prices has gone up in 2022
Yes, lol, much different pricing at the time of this project. Thanks for the visit Juan!
Wow!!! Is all I have to say!!!!!
+Janelljos Hi Janell, so glad you like it!
6 years later still cool
Absolutely amazing work! My kids would lose their minds over something like this.
+Potter tons Thanks, it was well worth it, they play on it everyday!
That looks great! Anywhere I can get plans like this?
Free plans www.ana-white.com/woodworking-projects/diy-basement-indoor-playground-monkey-bars
wow...amazing now all thats left is to paint it but otherwise still looks pretty amazing
Great job . . . very cool, but be sure to use a non toxic wood sealant like AFM's Safecoat. Off-gassing from most plywood and 2x4s is harmful.
Like!
A secret tunnel! You really know what kids dream of.
Thanks for the visit, they loved and played here for many years!
EPIC
WOW! That is super cool.
I wish i had young kids again........................................... not. JimE
We build our playhouse this Christmas time as a gift to our three kids...they love it. Thank you Ana for sharing the plans. Greeting's from Germany
Hi Ana, great video and build. Has given me some excellent ideas for my own.
Best regards from the UK.
Did you secure it to the floor or walls in some way?
I would reccommend tacking the exterior boards directly into studs in the wall, evenly spaced at each side of the structure.
coolest parents ever! they sure know the significance of kids getting that energy out of there system
“If you build it, they will come.” Love it! Instant hangout spot for the kids in the area I bet!
i wish i have a mom and dad it's just me and my two sisters
Just started working on it. Thanks for the DIY
This is so cool! And i live in AK too!
Could anyone else not hear it
Brilliant! Was looking for instructions on monkey bar instructions and saw your video. We have a similar layout, but living in Texas, made it outside. Have you thought about a small rock wall? Our grandchildren are 6 and younger so thinking the perfect age to learn. Nice job!
***** Great, a rock wall would be a fun addition!
This room is huge
I want this
this is insane! nice build!
I here the music but I can't hear your voice
Thanks for watching, sorry about that, learning as we go!
That is super cool! I think this might be on my next plans once the lumber prices drop a bit!
Yes, a bit more spendy these days... Thanks for the visit!
Haw did you kep this a secret from your kids
It wasn't easy!!! It is in our basement/bonus room, so the door stayed closed while we worked on it:)
Was not expecting that opening shot. Way cool!
Thanks so much!
