Discord itself has ignored the fact that MEE6 was violating multiple rules in relation to bots for over a year now, regardless of how many times they've been reported. People have been attacked for trying to call them out over other matters in the past.

@@electron6825 It doesnt really, they dont spend their resources logging every piece of info, where as bots usually do. Had my own bot for just over a year and it was only a few gb from about 15 servers in that year, so mee6 being in tens of thousands is only in the 10s of terabytes, where if discord did it for every server it would be petabytes at least

Discord isn't going to do anything. They claim Mee6 has done nothing wrong against their ToS because the things they HAVE done, didn't happen on Discord for the most part. Even though they sent unsolicited advertisements, which by law (because Discord is based in the US) Discord is supposed to take action against as there are laws requiring advertising emails (which by the law includes any kind of instant messaging) to have a very obvious unsubscribe button. Which Mee6 did not do.

The leveling system works for avoiding spam bots that will join and spam garbage, either links, or indirect links by putting spaces, and other nonsense. It works great for those situations to help promote also engagement so it does work. But if you just want to chat then it gets boring fast if there is a heavy grind to use a feature

There is actually a reason someone would care about the leveling system: some servers lock stuff behind the levels as a way to only have people who are active in the server participate in stuff like give aways.
I wonder if people are going to realize the creators of the admin bots like MEE6 have backdoor access into the bot to record conversations in voice calls or text logs that people allow them in.

Honestly Discord as a whole is kinda like this with scummy monetization. Discord locks 60 fps screenshare behind Nitro Plus, not regular Discord Nitro, but Nitro Plus. I don't mind stuff like animated emotes, longer messages, and gif PFPs being behind a paywall; but locking stream quality that isn't a fucking powerpoint presentation shouldn't require a fucking Discord Nitro subscription. Wouldn't be surprised that Discord is looking the other way with MEE6 because they're just as scummy as the devs for the bot are.

Straight up getting rid of entirety of commands, banning people who are asking for support and support only in their support server because their staff are moronic and as of recently the entirety of the premium dyno has disappeared. You still have to pay for it but it just doesnt work.

It has been my #1 choice for general purpose, hence the bot name (Yet Another General Purpose Discord Bot).

And you have bots like Dyno that have similar features for *free*. I remember in 2019 when MEE6 was somewhat decent without 90% of its paywalled features..
personally i do actually like the xp/levelling thing, its kinda fun in smaller close knit friend servers to gauge how annoying everyone is mee6 isnt the only bot with this though so its not like a huge selling point or anything lol

The leveling system actually has a cool concept attached to it that allows you to reward users with roles when they reach certain levels, which was great for making sure a new user was on the up and up before automatically granting them certain permissions. Or at least that would have been a very cool and useful concept if the feature wasn't locked behind a fucking paid subscription

Back in my days of being an admin on servers 1000+ mee6 was a huge part of it, legit everyone wanted it implemented, especially where it was a server for a youtuber, a lot of people kissing ass wanted to be on the top more and more, to show their commitment they had a sense of being involved more.. but yeah truly it was just nothing, no special roles were given, just a status of usability.
once i was dm'd by mee6 for some BS NFT and literally got told off for 20 minutes by developers for reporting it as spam since joining the mee6 server automatically allows them to do it since i HAVE to accept THEIR server TOS
I should go to my employer and be all "You know, it's been a fun job over the years, but i think ima take a lil break for the time being and be back when you decide to upgrade my salary"
I simply just don't trust public bots as a server owner. Either build one yourself (which I'd admit is not a good solution for the average person) or self host an open-source one on a cheap single-board computer, like the RPi.

Short term profit is incentivized. There's no guarantee for long term when Discord can ban bots in the future for example

Back in my days of being an admin on servers 1000+ mee6 was a huge part of it, legit everyone wanted it implemented, especially where it was a server for a youtuber, a lot of people kissing ass wanted to be on the top more and more, to show their commitment they had a sense of being involved more.. but yeah truly it was just nothing, no special roles were given, just a status of usability.
once i was dm'd by mee6 for some BS NFT and literally got told off for 20 minutes by developers for reporting it as spam since joining the mee6 server automatically allows them to do it since i HAVE to accept THEIR server TOS
I should go to my employer and be all "You know, it's been a fun job over the years, but i think ima take a lil break for the time being and be back when you decide to upgrade my salary"
I simply just don't trust public bots as a server owner. Either build one yourself (which I'd admit is not a good solution for the average person) or self host an open-source one on a cheap single-board computer, like the RPi.

However I would love to hear a video on your opinion on the crypto space in general, as an engineer the blockchain as a technology has helped my work in so many ways and I myself have been able to provide real value with it

Hey muta I have been watching your vids for a long time now. The plug-ins they promised they would take max 2 days to make all of them . I just learnt js and node.js and discord.js last month. And I am pretty sure I could make those plugins albeit it might take me some time but for experienced devs max 3 days.

It always amazed me when people who were buying NFT's would try to convince people they were buying it for the unique art. the cartoon monkey nft's were absolutely hilarious the people that were making & selling these NFT's were laughing all the way to the Bank .what a scam .
