It's amazing how much better these borescope/endoscopes have gotten over the past decade. I still use one that plugs into my phone or tablet, it's kind of a pain in the butt.

Whoever thought to add the magnet was a genius. I have a 2009 528xi and it is often impossible to get a good view of items under the intake manifold. All too often I am trying to complete a task simply by feel, which can be frustrating. A tool like this has an almost endless amount of possibilities. I also need to get the number off of my transmission as well as read the back of my alternator. This tool would also be useful for looking behind drywall when wiring, etc.
I found your channel recently and have been making my way through all of your videos. You are doing a great job. Good luck with your channel!

I would use it to read the serial numbers on engine blocks, transmissions, differentials, etc.
There are so many ways to use a boroscope.

I have something similar but it’s seemingly inferior by almost every metric from what I can tell. Would be a tremendous asset to my efficiency at work.

I bought a 2006 Nissan Altima for $600 it ran good for about 3000 miles.it started to overheat. I changed our both thermostats and plugs it started to get hot again. The temp gage would go from hot to operating tempiture and below operating tempiture. Then it started having trouble starting. I changed out the coils and I noticed oil in one tube and figured oil was fouling out the plug. It became harder to start and blew smoke from the tail pipe that seemed to clear after running. Now it's harder to start but runs. I looked in the oil filler on the valve cover and see sludge. Sludge also in the oil dio stick. I might cracked the head trying to remove one of the plugs. I had to spray it with break free spray solvent. Backed it out tiny bit and tighten it back many times. Finally it started to come out but hard all the way. New plug was hard going back. I could use the camera to look in the cylinder where the plug that gave me so much problems was. I can also look into the valve cover. Engine only has 150 000 mies. Maybe its a blown head gasket. Maybe it's better I relate the engine with a used low mileage motor. I love working on cars but it's so hard to get down under the car. Once. I'm down it's very hard to get back up. I will take that camera with me under al my vehicles. Look down that old ford flat head v8. Check the cylinders. I can use the camera. To check my drain because cockroaches over four inches are invading my home. Must be a broken pipe. If I don't win it will by one after I get some extra cash. I have seen them on the Internet. I want a good one. I believe in quality tools. Old days Chinese tools would break strip or bend. Maybe electronice things now days are different. Maybe china has the jump n us.

These really last a long time as long as you do not get fuel on the camera tip. Good luck to you! I will notify the winner via a reply from me like this one.

Thanks for the heads up on the Vanos recall. My 2009 528xi has the N52k engine but is not on the list. I will call their 800 number to try to find out why I am excluded. I read a comment on one of the BMW blogs that one can check the condition of the Vanos bolts by using a borescope through the oil filler cap. So that would be my first use of this tool. I am very glad that you made, and I watched, this video. Thanks again.

Hi Thomas, You can check them with a scope. It is a bit difficult but it can be done. BMW has a production range for the recall and your BMW may just be outside the range.
