Is it likely the Ancient Egyptians were able to maintain temperatures of 850 degrees for 100 hours? Their pottery suggests so, but using what means of heating the oven? They are not overendowed with fuel.

This great. Thank you for the recipe. Could you tell me the proportions of ingredients?
I attempted this pigment once last year and I think I had too much flux. It turned into a molten black mass of stuff that just had more of a gray color.

1 part copper oxide (viridian AKA Malachite) 1 part calcium carbonate (limestone chalk) 4 parts silica sand, +/- 2 parts borax as a flux. 900C for an hour or hit the temp with a torch if you don't have the oven. Just made some this last week. Don't go over the temperature or you will have too much variety in hue.

@@thomascleveland Yeah, been making Vermeer and Rembrandt copies of late and needed to get my hands on some. 10grams for almost 40 bucks is way too much for pigment online. Make your own and be the envy of all your friends with a PHD.
