Once I got the tail in my left hand, to be nearest me on handstrokes, the trouble with loosing rope and uneven handstrokes almost went away. Get the rope as deep into the V of my left hand and keeping the tail facing me when I grab sally with the left helped a lot. I was still over pulling as a beginner, but the confusion that loosing rope continuously on back strokes due to overpull held me back until I relaxed more and only was able, to aim for the right spot on the sally.
