  • In the fourth episode of Dream of Italy Season 1(PBS travel series), we travel to Naples and the Amalfi Coast. Neapolitans are serious about their coffee and we visit the historic Gran Caffè Gambrinus to taste what some say is the best espresso in the city. Naples is also famous for its tailoring tradition and we visit Rubinacci for an inside look. Host Kathy McCabe attends pizza school with master Enzo Coccia and learns it isn’t easy to make a perfect pizza. A visit to Via San Gregorio Armeno reveals a street full of Christmas crèches and caricatures. Mount Vesuvius looms large over life here and we venture into the crater with guide Roberto Addeo. In the shadow of Vesuvius we enjoy a local folk music performance before venturing to the Amalfi Coast. We visit some very special vines at Tenuta San Francesco, watch paper being made at Amatruda in the town of Amalfi, learn to make limoncello with a local, watch a cooking demonstration with Chef Christoph Bob at Monastero Santa Rosa and go fishing with local Costabile Laudano. I have been going to Italy for over 50 years, I speak Italian and it is my spiritual home. I have seen many documentaries and I have to say that this PBS production is excellent. I agree, how can anyone give this the thumbs down? Lack of appreciation of culture I guess.

      cliches and stereotypes. The lack of appreciation of the culture is with the producers and nsrrstor, not those who gave thumbs down. I can't decide which to give because some of the ingomis interesting. I prefer the BBC's "Italy Unpacked"

    I think I will agree that Italy Unpacked IS better and Sicily Unpacked too! We spent 33 days, 9 stops in Sicily - sublime. I get so fed up people going to Italy and wanting to eat just pasta and pizza!

    I would like to know how Kathy’s beautiful parents are doing. Especially her beautiful, sweet mother that was on her show. I loved that show where they back to her grandparents roots and Beautiful Our Lady del Grassia!

    At 8:50, why not just put the dough on the thing used to put the pizza in the oven, before putting on the toppings?

    • @sharknado623
      @sharknado623 6 лет назад

      E C what do you mean? You put the topping on and only then you put it in the oven, that's how a pizza is made! At least, the original Neapolitan pizza.
