I really like this method, going to try it on my latest acquisition - a 2003 2500HD extended cab. Removing the frame looks like a HUGE pain, and unnecessary in most cases.
My 96 gmc passenger side got hit by a bird and broke it. I wanted to replace it with a stationary glass. I looked everywhere to find out how2.But to no avail I decided to try it myself. After taking all the inside panels and everything off,I found there was no need what so ever to do.I took a sawzall and cut the three brackets off . All I had to do is put the window adhesive strip on and that was it. I wish someone would have told me that to start with. Thank you for your video. I hope my input will save someone a lot of time and labor.

Great video! Thanks! I heated the receiver slots on the frame a bit with a heat gun before I popped the glass into them. I figure when they cool they'll snug down onto the hinges nice and tight.
@@ifscottcanyoucan Sorry, didn't see your question. Seems great, watertight, I'd call it a success! Thanks for your inspiration. Local glass guy quoted $100. I did it for nothing, past the purchase price for the replacement.
I think it’s called a sheet metal screw because of the coarse threads?? 😂 I’m still watching, but judging by the comments, I need to study this video. Thank you for doing this!!
I know how to install these windows with the frame you just unscrew the screws that are behind the panel and then carefully cut through the urethane. Then you got to peel all the urethane off of the metal and clean it up real good with acetone let it dry then you get some urethane from your local automotive store and boil it in hot water in a pan in the kitchen once it's been in there for 15 or 20 minutes it'll be more than soft enough to stick in your regular caulking gun and you squirt a bead all the way around the perimeter of where the old urethane was stick your frame and your glass all at once in the opening with the glass latched and then you apply the three screws and you should put some blue or green frog tape around the outside of the window so it doesn't shift if you immediately have to use your truck if you can afford to wait overnight you're better off then you put your door panel on.
This is exactly what information I was looking for. My window latch was broken and I got both a window and frame for it at junk yard paint about 60 dollars. I have to take off my frame to install the new one and this information is very very helpful thank you!!!

That wasnt the right way to do it u will have air leaks and water leaks
It has been over 6 months and not a single drop of water has gotten in. It may not be the established way to do it but it worked for me. I appreciate your comment.
2 years with no leaks!
Ok what is the right way to do it to stop air leaks?
Fuck I got a 94 Sierra and thief’s popped mine off what’s the best way I should go about fixing that? Have been having trouble with finding someone who can do it and parts aren’t made 🥲
They don't make a rear window and frame for a 94 Sierra? Try a junkyard. You could install it yourself or take the part to a mechanic.
