The band was formed in 2010 with Tim and Scott as the original members. Clay Gober (bassist) joined in 2012 and Clay Aeschliman (drummer) joined in 2016. Because they've been around for 12 years and they started quite young it's easy to watch them change from video to video. Their style has continued to evolve over time like most bands and their most recent single Neurotica feels like more of a throwback to this era of Polyphia but with their current level of technical skill.
You have to react to full album, album by album so you know all the polyphia changes / phases. This song that u react is originaally titled “Light”. They always have their own sounds imo. Anyway, love ur reaction !!
They changed drummers once but other than that Tim and Scott and Clay are all original members. Check out Aviator or Champagne to see hear their original drummer.
Check out "Finale" to see their first or second drummer in action. The song itself is awesome as usual, but completely different from what you've already seen on the channel XD
@@cafetrey If you need to check out how they were at firt, check out thier Cover of Bach Concerto, when they were just known as a cover band, the Old Drummer, Brandon Bukhalter perfectly fit thier old fast metal style...check it out soon
@@cafetrey I've got this itch that doesn't go away, until I listen to some Polyphia! haha. But really, I only discovered these guys about a month ago and I'm friggin hooked. As an audiophile/metalhead, I honestly do not understand how I never found them until now. Apparently, back in the day they had a different drummer when they were doing more Death Metal and Death Core stuff, but just awhile ago Tim and the old drummer did some more work together.
bro plz react to LIGHT by polyphia . LIT is actually the remix of the song LIGHT . so basically polyphia remixed their own song and completely changed the genre but the mellody and the notes are exactly the same . ple react to light so that yoyu can compare both of them . its always fun to see a band remix their own song
This is the sound that come to mind when I think of Polyphia. Lit is actually a remake of Light, more electronic skips and what not. I prefer Light version actually. Tim, Scott, and Clay (bass) are all orignal, and Clay (drums) joined several years ago replacing the original drummer. If you want a bass forward song I recommend checking out "Crush", one of my favs.
I think we all are ingesting large amount of Polyphia since Playing God dropped. They really are unique. I'd recommend checking out Saucy if you're wanting a saucy jam.
Bass is getting mixed better in recent years, but one of the things that got me into J-Rock is that they mix bass right. Misaki from Sokoninaru and MISA from Band-Maid both have massive bass tones and define their bands. also, check out the Taiwanese band Elephant Gym, great math rock centered on KT Chang's bass.
I wish their song Ivory had an official video. The ending riff of that song will have you playing it over and over and over again. Bittersweet does something real similar. But Ivory is my favorite.
I'm not against reacting to songs that don't have a video. I will add it to the list of future videos but I can't promise how fast I can get to it since my day job doesn't respect my channel time.
They had 2 vocalists at the start in 2010 for the first couple years and Clay Aeschliman is their third drummer joining the band in 2016. Lit is from 2017 so it's all the current members from the new stuff. But the band has gone through some changes over the years
@@cafetrey yeah I think he's right about Clay joining in 2016 because the music video for 'Aviator' had a different drummer in it and that was the year before.
The album version is different then music video. Not as choped up and no electronic use. Both very good. Personaly prefer the album version. The guitars and bass sound cleaner.
Definitely more imaginative. This version of lit or light is reflective of there current song. The album version is different and flows better with the album as a flow
Dude I can't recommend Owane (Check out Born in Space) and Intervals (Check out Leave no Stone) enough. I think you'd love Covet too. All extremely talented instrumental bands.
@@cafetrey thanks for replying man, but yes the whole album is good but i think over all the most hated album which has goose, crosty, 40oz and the worst is the best because 4 of the 6 song album are very good in my opinion
dude if you want good polyphia just take any track from new levels new davils their last album (nasty, saucy and bad are amazing songs) and plus more good stuff on tim henson's personal channel like blood moon and sunset.

Thanks for the detailed background on the band. I fully intend on checking out their original lineup's music as well as the rest of their discography
i have to admit I came back to listen to this again with the commentary. Love this track and love to hear someone like it as much as i do
Thank you 😁

Agreed!

Check out Aviator or Champagne to see hear their original drummer.
Champagne is starting to get a lot of requests and is on my future videos list.
@@cafetrey great song!

I will check it out. Especially if it offers something different
haha... nice intro. had me for a sec
That intro is what happens when you get home from a long day at work in 108 degree weather 🤣😂
I was concerned in the first couple moments, you really had us going.
😂🤣
Damn son, you got more subs every time I see a new video. Keep it up
Thank you! This is so much fun.
diagnosis: polyphia, prescription: more polyphia
Polyphia, the only drug you can't overdose on
Thanks for checking it out
And stay safe! Polyphia is hella addictive ... I'mma send some more meds( songs) that will make you feel better 😂✌️
No one is safe from Polyphia.... I need those meds now 🤣😂

Not many have recommended that song but I do love bass forward tracks. I will check it out. I plan on listening to Light and doing a comparison
Fun fact: the female vocal samples are Ariana Grande.
@@cafetrey James Franco is also a super fun listen.

I'm a saucy guy so I will check it out lol
My doctor told me it was just a Faze but I’ve been in this so called Faze for 5 years. I think this condition is more serious then we think.
LOL 🤣😂. There is no cure but more Polyphia
You gotta do polyphia-james franco, its worth it
I may do that one after The worst

Haven't heard this one before. The worst is one of my favorites
The worst you say??? Verrrry soooon....
In the vein of every song you hear not sounding like any other song you should check out Nightmare!
It's on the list and so is The Worst
I think I've come down with the same illness.
We should start a support group 😂
If you react to any track off their EP "inspire" you won't believe it's the same band
They blow me away every time. Any track in particular?
@@cafetrey I'd say either persevere or transcend. Transcend has an actual playthrough video to watch

The Worst will be next. Nasty will be after that most likely.
Nasty and Saucy are on my future videos list.
I used to listen to this album at the gym all the time. Euphoria is another good track
Thanks for the heads up on that track.
