I remember that day. I watched it live. It was a beautiful game. It's after this game that Mourinho started to get nasty and the Clasicos became a war zone haha These games were the pinnacle of football, watched by millions of people around the Globe. Every game was a final, super intense and dramatic. With Ronaldo, Ozil, Alonso, Xavi, Puyol, Pique, Messi, Casillas and Iniesta in their primes.
It was poetry in motion. Also, it was the golden era of Spanish football with the Spain national team winning everything from 2008 to 2012. It was just beautiful.
And all thanks to Catalonia

I think the biggest difference between this team and the current one is the amount of movement, pressing, confidence and bravery.
The main difference is the width. Just look at where Villa and Pedri are, almost the whole game they are by the sidelines.

Every manager after has neglected the high intensity pressing, they and the players as well seem to think possession alone will overcome opposing teams

This is what we miss these days. This barcelona was like a well oiled machine with every piece doing what its supposed to do. They were all independent individuals with decision making capabilities at critical moments. But now everybody is always passing the ball to messi, they'd be in front of the goal without goalkeeper but still pass back to messi and this is not entirely their fault, but lack of bad management and mindset that Mr. Valverde provided to players. I'm sorry to sound harsh but he just didn't had enough balls to tell big players what he thinks they should do. And the end result was, well, we all know that. Now we should forget signing players for millions from other teams and focus on bringing la masia players more. We might suffer a bit in the beginning but will gain a lot in long term. In the end no matter what, "VISCA BARÇA, VISCA CATALUNYA"

But it's not about one single player, one single team, it needs more than that, the La Liga backed with the country has given us a golden era in the futbol history.
