What poet writes about climate change? What a horrific topic of poetry. Is this even about literary merit anymore??? Or is this some jacked-up recognition of woke culture?
Just because the topic is unpleasant doesn't make it not poetry. The arts have always been about exploring humanity, the good and the ugly. We would be remiss to turn away from painful truth just because it humbles us and shows us for the flawed beings we are.
one of the biggest purposes of poetry is to shine light on subjects being silenced and elaborating on the emotions, etc, but its also her usage of literary devices that set her apart, not the subject of her work.
Forget her age or anything... Just that there is a successful poet. That's amazing.
