Face/Off is a great movie by John Woo. It's unfair to say this, but you can almost reduce John Woo movies down to 'Slow motion' and 'Doves'. Other movies of him that I liked are MI:2, Broken Arrow and Hard Target. There are other great movies that I have not seen. Many people complained about Mission Impossible 2. I believe these are people that mostly had not seen any of his previous movies including Face/Off Face/Off is a masterclass in acting and mimicry. John Travolta mimicking Nic Cage is brilliant and Nic Cage's over-acting was neccessary to establish Castor Troy's style so quickly. This is really good movie and I am glad you enjoyed it.
If anyone's interested in watching Cage's newest films one I highly recommend is Renfrew. Cage playing an even more out of control Dracula is well... Something that's been keeping me a fan of the guy all these years.

Nicholas Cage's most serious and committed role was in Leaving Las Vegas, where he played an alcoholic, he won the Oscar for that performance, which is very heartbreaking, Nick was going through personal problems at that time and it served as catharsis for him to play that character. From then on he began to attract the attention of Hollywood and he was called for many films and followed a more commercial career with movies like FACE OFF; THE ROCK, CON AIR, GONE IN 60 SECONDS; LORD OF WAR, etc.

People used to have 5++ kids, lose all but 2 or 3 of them before their 20th birthday, and both be with the same person their whole lives. And be reasonably happy.
@@twizzm. Of course but if we're talking about economics (which i wasn't), you're better off living with someone you can trust and who can trust you (and does) than being alone or switching partners because of a bad feeling. But the conversation was about the idea that it's normal to feel that the relationship is ruined by the untimely loss of a child, which if true, might suggest there's something wrong about staying together in that event. Economically and environmentally, having 2 or fewer kids is better than 3 or more. The #1 reason they used to want more is not because of economics but because so many of them died before middle age, so it was often seen as the right thing to do from a social, spiritual or patriotic PoV even if it did cost more.
If you like actors in serious roles that you wouldn't expect then I highly recommend the Jim Carrey film Dark Crimes, it's certainly not a comedy and shows that he can properly act, it's little known but a good watch.

People used to have 5++ kids, lose all but 2 or 3 of them before their 20th birthday, and both be with the same person their whole lives. And be reasonably happy.
And now people can't afford to take care of themselves let alone others
