- Hi guys! I just want to share to you that I am no longer part of Palfish. I just quit. The moment I received the big memo, I closed all my classes right away. If you have any questions, please leave me a message or comment here. All the best teachers! 🤗❤️

It's such a shame Cris. I was actually looking into applying for a job at the said company too. I am "kind of" missing teaching English already. But yeah, when you mentioned about the salary months ago I was hesitant already. Now this gave me more reasons not to anymore. Well, I'm pretty sure there's still some other ways where you can still teach English if you want. Anyway, all the best Cris. Take care x
Yup, def not worth your time! That's why I left immediately (which is not typically my style coz I still believe in work etiquette) but then, if I stayed longer, I'm just prolonging my burden as well.. So I had to do the hard decision of leaving.. But God gave me something right away.. The same day I left, I got a new job as well. I am still in awe of His perfect timing of provisions!!! ❤️❤️❤️
I am leaving as well and I am an OKC teacher… it’s so sad.. I hope you find something better😀
It was quite hard to leave especially when you get attached to your students at some level.. Bur i had to do what is best for me as well. Thank you ❤️
I’m British and have also left before the pay cut happened. The worst part is that I couldn’t even tell my students or explain why. PalFish are so cruel. Good on you for leaving too! 👏🏼

Same! I’ve been with PalFish for over a year now and it’s really just my students that made me stay. But with what’s happening right now, the environment is just slowly becoming toxic. :(
Sending hugs... Yes it has become very toxic indeed.. I was blessed to be able to leave but I didn't really burn the bridge.. The admins says they would take me back anytime if ever I change my mind..

@@CrisGoosen same. :( I just was not getting any appointments and I had to ghost palfish. I eventually got fired from OKC (I think that’s what they called it) From there I just deleted my account

This is also happening to the native English speaking teachers too. We’ve had around 30% pay reduction and messaging turned off for 2 weeks. We have also lost so many bonuses and incentives over the last year too. I’ve also decided to leave after 2 years with the company because the low level of pay just isn’t livable for me now, however, I’m staying until the end of the month so I can message my students and say goodbye. Such a shame.
I was also thinking the same at that day they released the pay cut announcement.. But I can't focus, I was too bothered by the fact that I was working very hard for less than $5/hr...it was draining.. Plus the fact they kept watching me on my classes like weirdos... There's constantly a message popping up in my last few classes, saying I needed to increase my volume, but I never changed my tools(headset) nor my teaching style.. So, I found that very annoying.. I even got so pisses in the middle of 1 class that I had to verbally ask my student about my audio and she says it was perfectly fine, only then the pop ups ceased.. Anyway, its a shame but i will come back after this week just to say goodbye to my regular students, hoping I can still access my account by that time. 🤞
So weird, if the student is responding fine and not reporting, then I don’t see a problem. I think there are a lot of people leaving now. I don’t know if it is true, but I read somewhere you can get a fine for telling students you’re leaving due to pay reduction, hence why I will wait until I am paid, then message them to explain why I am leaving. I also told palfish I am staying so they don’t close my account, I’ll just close my schedule. It’s so sad when you’ve been teaching the same students for a long time and genuinely care about them. I also spend a fair amount of time before and after class going through lessons, having props ready and filling in reports - I’m already not paid for that! I just hope the company feels the negative effects of treating their loyal staff this way.

Yes teach!!! I waited for two months just for them to launch me as their teacher and suddenly they changed their rate twice! I invested time and effort just for this. Fortunately I got hired from another esl with higher pay.
I'm glad to hear that.. It's very sad but it is what it is now.. Let's all hope for the best!

I quit PalFish last year because they were constantly changing their policies that negatively affected teachers. I felt like lead teachers were sneaky and would rather catch you doing some wrong instead of being supportive and helpful. When I had to change my schedule, I got nasty messages from lead teachers AND parents. If I ever posted a question in one of the forums, I ALWAYS got sarcastic and rude responses from other teachers. And don’t forget to mention how teachers always tried to steal other teachers’ students! It felt like a cult! I switched to Outschool and it’s been a breath of fresh air!
Awww... So happy for you.. Do they ever hire teachers from Philippines in outschool? Maybe not.. Lol

I just passed my TESOL certificate course and was about to apply to Palfish, so once again it appears my life features bad timing. I really need to make at least $15 per hour minimum to pay my bills each month.
I'm sure there are still other companies out there that are better than Palfish..

I got jerked around by PalFish when I applied to work there. During the application process, they alternated between first accepting and then not accepting my TEFL certificates. I’m a veteran teacher, both online and brick-and-mortar, with degrees in language and teaching. Despite all that, they didn’t accept me and gave no rational explanation for why not. At the end, PalFish and others were destroyed by the PRC’s Double Reduction Policy. Oh well.
Palfish is an absolute nightmare! Awful treatment of teachers. It's not on phillipino teachers! All other teachers got a 30% pay cut!
I just found out that they changed it all for everyone now.. It started with us (Filipino teachers)...apparently it's just going downhill... 😔
Does this apply to filipino teachers who are US/canada/uk citizens? I worked for palfish in 2021 and I was making $17-19 per hour when I left. Im filipino, living in the US

I was working for them for a little bit but it was just not worth my time because it gets really competitive With other teachers. I hated how everybody in the group chat was bragging
I feel you Chris. I even had to excuse myself from one of the local group chats because it was a bit extreme for me..they think it was cool.. I thought otherwise... Maybe the intention was purely to encourage other teachers who doesn't get get any bookings at all.. But I'm sure there are other ways of doing that than just showing all their bookings, or their salaries. 🤣🤣🤣

Im still in palfish right now and I didnt even recieve any bookings from them 3 weeks now. I only got pop ups, but very often :(

I would recommend Preply if you want to set your own rate. I haven't explored other teaching platforms yet.
Does palfish have tax?
No they don't take care of tax.. I think you need to do it independently like an independent contractor
