I recently became obsessed with collecting and reviving my childhood memories with polly pocket and this video is AMAZING, it includes the answers to all the restoration questions I had! Thanks girlfran ❤❤❤
I am impressed by your ability to get such tiny details exactly right. If I painted a polly face it would be a disaster. It is nice to see someone having fun with the toys and doing what they want.
This was my first Polly Pocket! I just purchased my daughter the Unicorn Party PP for her birthday and we watched your tutorial (no instructions) on that this morning. I had no idea that the most of the items included were utilized in the way you displayed. You are very informative and my birthday girl and I love your nails. Thank you have a great holiday.
Glad you found it informative! I had to read the instructions to make sure I didn't miss anything but sometimes I get ahead of myself and just jump right in. 😂
OK, I know this is 2 years old but I wanted to pitch ideas to you for any future restorations you do: For the Logo = Transfer foil sheets. This is probably how the original was done as well. Brush a thin layer of glue over the embossed logo, lay the foil sheet on top and it should only stick where the glue is. When restoring the dolls = Prime the plastic first (with gesso or specially made primer) so the acrylic doesn't flake off late. I would also remove the old paint from dolls that are so worn like Chelsea, so the finish is smooth in the end. For restoring their faces = water slide decal sheets. Like those decals they use for nail wraps. You can get SUPER fine detail, put it onto their face and seal it with your clear varnish. 💙
I love watching your videos. I was not a Polly pocket fan, but I love watching you with your collection and also restoring your vintage ones. You have actually got me very interested in Polly and her various exploits. Please keep creating new videos for us to enjoy!
I'm so excited I found this channel! I just opened up a vintage polly set and realised one of the figures doesn't have a face at all (it's pretty creepy), one youtube search later and here I am :) This is a perfect video for me, and the instructions/tips are so clear. I look forward to checking out the rest of your channel!
Thank you for making this vid! I found your video with art insider and i’m so happy bc i’ve wanted to clean up my collection so my nieces could enjoy them too ❤️
I just got myself a teeny tiny little polly pocket as a desk buddy (I'm an artist so I got the little "pretty picture" locket) and I wanted to restore parts of it, since it had a little bit of dirt on it. This video was really helpful and with just a little bit of cleanup it looks good as new! :-)
Btw... I was searching for a doll house that is inside a magnet pencil case. When I open it, the 2 door become gardens and the whole pencil case becomes an apartment. It 's not polly pocket but they are so similar. It's a prize I didn't win when I was in elementary school. If you know, could you kindly tell me?
Hello Kerchie, first of all I wanna tell you that I enjoy watching your videos so much. Not only are they informative, I also find them relaxing 🥰 May I ask you how you're painting your pollies without kinda smearing the paint? I've tried, but my acrylics (higher price range) just don't work good on a Polly. And it also didn't look anything like the original color scheme. Not smooth and even. What did I do wrong? Do you have any good tipps for me?
I use acrylic paint and I shake the bottle first to make sure it's evenly mixed. You can also pour some out on a palette and mix it with a stick. Then take a very thick coat with your brush and apply it to the toy. It needs to be very thick so that you're painting with the actual paint rather than the brush, if that makes sense. And also make sure it's not the surface itself that's bumpy. It helps to clean the surface first before painting.
I have ALLLLL my Polly’s from back in the day. If I want to sell them, is it better to sell them as is, or try and do some of these repairs to the dolls?
The restoration of the scuffs and scratches was EXACTLY what i was looking for. I tragically made the mistake of using acetone to try and clean a stubborn spot and ended up melting the plastic :( i wouldn't care so much if it was on the back but isn't the front, it's unavoidable how "dull" the plastic looks there and it's my favourite compact 😞 I'm scared of the "2" novus that it will make the scuff worse
I did this exact same thing on one of the mini books. I used acetone on the "pages" part and dulled it out by mistake. I fixed it by painting over the whole thing with acrylic paint and putting a gloss varnish over it. I'm not sure if it'll work for your compact but you can try to cover the scuff with acrylic paint and gloss varnish. Try to match the paint exactly. I don't think Novus 2 will work in this case. But sometimes we just have to accept the scuffs too 😊
How do you keep your paintbrush in good condition ? I have a couple good super thin paintbrushes but after a little while it gets damaged and it doesn't stay as thin.
The brand doesn't really matter. I just use the cheap .99 cent ones from Michael's. For the colors it's best to test in person because mine are actually a shade or two off but I don't mind it.
I believe to restore the lights, you have to completely deconstruct the entire compact. I'm unable to do it but maybe a professional can? I'm too scared to experiment. 🤣
Hii kerchie what paint do u use cuz my polly is getting scratched up i really need to fix it so what paint and what do u seal it with so the paint wont come off
how to restore painting of the figure that is coming out I have an old figure, it looks perfect, but the top of the hair has faded a little. It was black and a little bluish. original figure how to restore faded hair? please
I don't recommend it because over time, it will become sticky and might ruin your Polly. You can buy varnish on Amazon or any hardware store like Home Depot. Search for "Polycrylic gloss" or "Varathane gloss". Those two are good brands.
Thank you for the video. Unfortunately the product you use is next to impossible to find where I live. Do you know of any other product you could recommend?
I know this video is old, but just an fyi... those jewelry cleaning cloths actually have chemicals in them. The inner, white cloth is the ones with the chemical. The outer (usually gray or green) cloth is for buffing after you use the chemical treated white cloth, and that one has no chemical.
I admire the effort (you clearly have a good sense of detail and accuracy) but just as a note for collectors these changes remove a lot of financial value from the sets. You'd want to make sure whatever paints you use are easily reversible and be careful not to cover up any of the original finishes.

It's awesome that you can share them with your nieces. 😊
I’m starting to get a polly pocket collection soon 😄
Yay!
I sometimes use dry interdental brush and use it as a 'broom'-like cleaning method for the flooring (and it works fine with the sticker carpet)
Great idea!
just wanted to say that I love your videos about polly pockets and hope you'll make more in the future
Thank you! My plan is to make more. 😁
I love the tiny dolls it’s so cute 🥺🙏
They are! 😊
i like the way you repaint polly's face, it looks cute like angel pocket bandai figure :D
I never realized that! I like it even more!
Wow kerchie this answrs all of my quistions thanks for the video🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩😘😘😘😘😘

I have ALLLLL my Polly’s from back in the day. If I want to sell them, is it better to sell them as is, or try and do some of these repairs to the dolls?
Definitely sell them as is. As a disclaimer, repainting them ruins their value. I only do these for my own personal enjoyment.
So the varnish tightened up the pollys that were loose?
Yes! 😱

Novus 2 and 1 will bring back the shine. If it's really bad wet sanding with 3000 grit sandpaper before polishing will help.
more videos please! loved it!
Your pollys look amazing! I'm glad I'm not the only one restoring my old toys! Where did you get your paint markers?
Amazon 😁 it's the Artistro brand which is pretty good so far. Haven't used it much so I don't know how long it'll last.
@@Kerchie thank you!
Love this! Just wish it wasn't so bright so we can really see the scratches and what's happening with them!
It's hard to see in person too unless it catches the light just right.
Do you clean the figures with all purpose cleaner too? Or just the compact?
Just the compact. With the figures I at least just wipe them with a soft dry cloth.
@@Kerchie thank you for responding :)
How do you keep your paintbrush in good condition ?
I have a couple good super thin paintbrushes but after a little while it gets damaged and it doesn't stay as thin.
I wash them in soap and water. I also buy cheap ones so I'm not pressured about taking good care of them.
random thing to use… magic erasers… amazing on stains or marks
Still haven't tried it!
Is beautiful and pretty
Thank you!
Could you please list the color names and brands of paint? I really appreciate it
The brand doesn't really matter. I just use the cheap .99 cent ones from Michael's. For the colors it's best to test in person because mine are actually a shade or two off but I don't mind it.
Not sure if I missed it in the video but how did you fix loose hinges on the figures please?
The only way I know how to fix them is to coat them in varnish. It should help tighten the hinges.
@@Kerchie thank you 😊
Loooooove this 💝 thank you!
Those arnt dislikes, they are likes from the pp compacts left upside-down 😎
💯
You should make a business where you take people’s polly pockets and restore them!
Too many liability issues but I have thought about it for sure 😂
Excuse me , I would like to ask what kind of color that you use to paint figures?
Acrylic paint, any color that matches.
Hi, I bought the sparking mermaid adventure (used of course) and it's missing the logo from the front. How would u fix that? Love your channel. ❤️
It's missing the actual piece that would be the logo? Not sure how to fix that unfortunately. ☹
I use steam to clean dirt out
Love it! Thank you for making this video. The Polly's looks lovely after your restoring.
What material do you use for the wings? Is it Fimo?
Thank you! I use Premo. 😁
Is there any way to fix the catch? Like if it wont stay closed?
I haven't found a way to ☹️
Hello dear, thank you for your useful video. Is there a way to restore lights? I have an old stairligt castle but lights don't work :(
I believe to restore the lights, you have to completely deconstruct the entire compact. I'm unable to do it but maybe a professional can? I'm too scared to experiment. 🤣
Instead of using xacto knife I use toothpick/bamboo skewer to peel off the unwanted part. Sometimes I even paint my polly's face using it. 😁
Those are awesome tools. I always have hundreds of toothpicks on hand.
Do you have a method for discoloured Polly’s? For example..I have a pink compact..that has turned orange. I think it’s sun damage 😕
Unfortunately, I don't have a solution to that. The ones I've read about include ingredients with bleach and I wouldn't take that risk with Pollies.
This is awesome!! Where do you buy your polishing cloth? :)
Amazon. Search for jewelry cleaning cloth. 🤗
Hii kerchie what paint do u use cuz my polly is getting scratched up i really need to fix it so what paint and what do u seal it with so the paint wont come off
Acrylic paint and I seal it with a varnish like Polycrylic or Liquitex.
Where did you get the logo? It didn't say, did you laser cut it?
You can buy it at my merch store here: bit.ly/3fBtG3H
I also did a tutorial on how to make it here: ruclips.net/video/qiTs3EFP8Q0/видео.html
Wow! Thank you for such a quick response. Your video was so helpful
Good as new
how to restore painting of the figure that is coming out
I have an old figure, it looks perfect, but the top of the hair has faded a little. It was black and a little bluish. original figure how to restore faded hair? please
Acrylic paints work really well.
Hi Kerchie, I don't have varnish, can I use clear nail polish?
I don't recommend it because over time, it will become sticky and might ruin your Polly. You can buy varnish on Amazon or any hardware store like Home Depot. Search for "Polycrylic gloss" or "Varathane gloss". Those two are good brands.
@@Kerchie that's great advice, thank you!
Thank you for the video. Unfortunately the product you use is next to impossible to find where I live. Do you know of any other product you could recommend?

@@Kerchie the novus 1 and 2.
Those are just plastic polish, nothing fancy. If you search "plastic polish", you should be able to find some brands you can buy where you live.
@@Kerchie thank you!

Polymer clay! The brand I like is Premo. :)

Acrylic 😊
