Good luck getting a publisher! I’m still waiting for a Case Blue reprint.

This is crazy. If there are no strategic benefits to Taiwan’s independence (aka we can make the same chips and processors and tech here) and we have a ambiguous policy on whether we will defend them or not then I doubt the US will lose face for not fighting a war that is an entire ocean away while China is a stone’s throw from their target. In fact it would not show weakness but pragmatism and realism, the exact opposite.

@@gregstadermann we definitely would lose some face, think of Europe and South Korea in this case.

Are the strategic threats posed by China retaking Taiwan even in the ballpark for use of nuclear weapons?
Especially since we have reshored processor manufacturers via the CHIPS act? Not like they would gain an asymmetrical advantage by retaking Taiwan (we can produce the same processors here)

@@gregstadermann We are more so attempt to reshore, but will take us several years to get to the size they are currently producing. If we get cut off now our new tech would be on par with early 2000’s as we and Europe produce more mid level chips.
