I have a lot of respect for Senator Flake. I'm not a Republican, but I respect (not necessarily agree with) the basic tenets of Republicanism. I respect this guy's character and courage in standing up for his convictions, against those who would destroy our country with hate, ignorance, stupidity and divisiveness. Evil will not win.

You can tell he is a bit afraid there, tries to hide it with a smile. No shame in that. Probably afraid of the future of the US and for himself too. He knows that if Trump gets DOJ and intelligence agencies under his thumb, Trump can retaliate against him. Brave man, more republicans need to resist Trump.

Some here question Flake's voting record. I must say either they haven't listened to the speech or without giving enough attention. Flake speaks very clearly his political philosophy has not changed but the danger Trump has caused is much more important than any policy differences, thus either democrats or republicans we must resist Trump. So Flake has no consistency problem. He has been consistent since the start. He sticks with his political beliefs while advocating Trump's harmful administration.

Unfortunately, the 3 Republicans who seek to replace these 2 honorable men aren't so honorable.
There's Sheriff Arpio who is reviving the birtherism B.S. Kelly Ward who was annoyed with McCain for not stepping down and letting her have the seat last election (endorsed by Trump) and one more I'm trying to forget because just as bad. Don't know who's the blue candidates but am going to find out.

@Helen We're looking at them, too. I can tell you we've already decided against Kelly Ward. In addition to being rude and crude, she's a nut cake. Chemical vapor trails? OMG! Arpaio never was even a dim possibility for us.
When we lose McCain and Flake, I think we are going to be firmly in the Independent category.

      R. McBride ironically, FDR supported no war with Germany while hitler was also appreciated by democrats accross the USA at the time. Also it’s noted that both the left, & the alt right in Europe are only the leftist agenda in the USA. Now, when Jeff Flake blames trump & everyone republican for creating such facisism wich is currently employed by the democrat party who owns 90% of the Media just like the nazis did.
Let’s not forget, democrats supported and used the JIM crow laws. Let’s be prideful of our history as democrats. I’m cheering for using the democrats as historically the people that own how others think. Now a days, seeing republicans also actually being owned by the Hillary hate machine is kind of funny.
Trump is just a funny guy who calls out bad things. Even if he really if it’s just said or used as news for liberals heads to explode, it’s always fun to look up gold digging women that try to have you grab them by the puss if you are rich. No it’s a real thing. Democrats and most women teach their daughters to pimp themselves out by finding someone rich.
Maybe because thinking like everyone else and conformity like a democrat socialist in the Nazi party seems wrong, I think that’s why I would say no to bad things.
Wiki has been converted over time to show only republicans should be blamed as nazis or kkk members, even though there is enough articles movies and media from the past show that otherwise. Don’t expect democrats who push for sanctuary cities to connect plantations full of undocumented workers to California gated communities & companies full of undocumented workers. It’s all about making money and getting votes for the democrats party. What will they get away with next.
You may not understand this until you read it several times. But what I have said sinks in when you start looking it up too.

I am not a Republican, nor from Arizona. I'm also not a lawyer. Eloquence such as this keynote address cannot be but universally admired. A crisp message, no crude underlying tones, and captivating content. However, reading some of the feedback below, it seems suitable for learning from Jeff Flake's example:
    (1) When you quote, quote with full context and analysis of how it is applicable. "The first thing we do, let's kill all the lawyers" is attributed to William Shakespeare, in his play "Henry VI". Not in the context of building a "great moral society". Rather the context of helping a future King tout his own greatness and supremacy. So the quote might be valid for the context after all, but more to the point that Jeff Flake is trying to make.
    (2) When you attack, do it with dignity, and based on recognized short-comings. Calling the Harvard Class of 2018 "sissies" without validation or cause, seems to be more an act of jealousy, rather than an informed and constructive statement.
    (3) When you provide arguments, provide verifiable and relevant observations. Again, calling people who disagree "commies" fails to convince me of whatever argument the accuser is trying to make.
In short, I was expecting negative feedback, but unfortunately some of the feedback is exactly what the keynote is calling out against: divisive, spiteful rubbish. Jeff Flake poses that any situation can not be resolved adequately if there are no opposing viewpoints. I agree. But with Jeff, I believe that there is a constructive way to find the compromise that is the solution. And the disagreement can be walked through the hallways of mutual respect.

I'm as hetero as they come, but I'm falling in love with this guy.We need Statespeople, not demagogues. We need politicians who state their case with cool intellect and persuasive logic, not Hitlerian minority-baiting and histrionics. It'd also help if we had an educated electorate that was taught critical thinking skills, and who realized that America was never meant to be a Lefties or Righties paradise, and that a healthy, functioning democracy must rely on a fair modicum of consensus and compromise,Thanks,Jeff - God bless. Please!Don't be a stranger. We need to be reminded of what a real Statesman and a real Conservative Republican look like.

Fact Matter Facts don't matter to you. 50% of US voters approve of Trump. Rasmussen. CNN never told you that? Jeff Flake brainwashed you into believing that HE'S the moral majority? LOL! Institutions like the FBI are weaponized and corrupt. They spied on Trump. The IRS targeted the Tea Party. All of your "Trump is dangerous" is falling flat. Economy booming. Trump bringing North Korea to the negotiation table, freeing hostages. You are an idiot.

I was deeply offended by Senator Flake's speech because he had the opportunity to apologize for his role and those off all federally elected officials who have the responsibility and moral obligation to properly do the business of the people of the United States and have failed in that task. Our Presidents are chosen as set forth in the Constitution. The quality of that person is very much a subjective choice of the people who vote. I do not believe a voting majority would select a person of lower quality over one who is clearly superior in their ability to lead the nation unless a deep perception of failure to lead has been a constant issue in our Democracy.
