Sadly not just you. Fortnite changed how Performance Mode operates visually by increasing the black point (shadows) or luminance/dynamic range - this worsens FPS on RTX 20 cards & lower. The new map means CPU usage is naturally higher too!
Follow this video and change your Display Resolution to 1280x720 (or use a Stretched Res) and lower your 3D Resolution to ~75. Ensure your NVIDIA or AMD GPU control panel settings are optimised too!
the disable cosmetic is no longer there with this update. i had to change my config files awhile ago to get the game to even run. now the game is back to being completely unplayable for me even with all the config file changes and all that. Hopefully, hopyfull an actual new config file will drop. btw im running on a 2060 Super, and a ryzen 7 2700x. i deff should be able to run this game, on performance mode but guess not.

If you have an NVIDIA Graphics Card, try capping your FPS directly in the Control Panel ‘3D Settings’ tab or NVIDIA Profile Inspector - it should be called “Maximum Framerate Limit” or “FPS Limiter V3”. If this doesn’t work, cap it manually in your game config (GameUserSettings) instead.

I ran an experiment using the most common school laptop accessible currently: A low end HP -Core I3 -4GB Ram -No Graphics Card -old system (Idk what the tech term is) Fortnite was a literal nightmare to play, as to be expected. I tried the tricks that I usually use (tuning graphics, config, etc) for a while it ran fine up to the end of OG season, albeit looking like trash. Chapter 5 is where I concluded the experiment as the game no longer was playable. -Map Floor not loading -Consistent 5-10 FPS -Freeze Framing -Lag So yeah, it's gonna be rough for majority of players
