I think this phone is specifically made for Samsung exec's spreadsheet to say they have a thin one in their product line to collect that bonus. Its been Samsung's way for years, trying everything on the wall and see what sticks with little or no market testing.
If they want to experiment, they should bring back the Active and Zoom series like they had in around the S5 series. I will love a s25 Active with the same specs as the original just more thicker and rugged.
I think they are simply doing what Apple is in this case. Solid strategy if you ask me, there's gonna be demand for thin Androids for sure once 17 Air is released.
Battery life is one of the most important things a phone can have. No matter how good or bad the specs are, you still need a decent battery to be able to use them.
Where do you live that if you're not 5 feet from a plug. On top of that if your job is getting on your phone 24,7 then you have a plug on deck . I want this phone cuz I hate having a brick in my pocket
@VasiParam Your phone still drains battery even when you don't use it. If you only use your phone for essential calls and stuff, you don't need a $1000+ phone.

This is for me! Always loved how thin the flip felt unfolded. Love the plus sized screen but didn't want the bulk. Loved the ultra main camera but didn't want the bulk or other features. I totally get it. And I want one ❤
I love how the phone looks in hand! But as you said, once the case is on, who cares? I’d rather see a solid battery life than the thinnest phone every year.
Cases are actually better for thinner phones, once u put the case on, the phone will be the same size as s25 or ultra... Thicker phones become a brick with case or
4:38 Exactly MKBHD. If you polled Samsung customers and asked them "Do you want a version of the latest Galaxy S phone that's 1mm thinner with 20% shorter battery life or a version 1mm thicker with 25% more battery life?", I'll bet the overwhelming majority will say 1mm thicker with more battery life. How many people do we see with battery packs connected to their phones? This phone will not sell well without serious discounts.

The USB-C port isn't off centre though? Even if there was no SIM card slot, the charging port would still be in the centre lol. They'd probably just replace it with a fake speaker
5:20 That's what I thought too. I believe the most important point is that, with the release of the Galaxy S25 Edge, Samsung has, for the first time, launched a new product ahead of Apple. This product could also be seen as a sign that the slim design may be applied to Samsung’s future foldable and flip phone models as well. Even though the latest smartphones are released with advanced specifications, many users do not fully utilize all of their features.
I don't think the average person will care if it has less performance, cameras, or a worse screen. But they will notice battery life. Interested to see how it performs there.
@@faraibeeReally? Phones are way too light wtf? Feels like im holding a piece of paper when I hold these phones now, they need to make them heavier if anything.

I’ve had 13 Pro and 16 Pro since and both disappointed me with their ergonomics because of their weight and center of mass. I want an high end ultra thin iPhone. Let’s see what Apple has to offer. Will be a tough sell from 16 Pro tho.
Samsung is now the only phone brand that focus on innovation... backwards... First they took out the curved display on S lineup, now they put 3900 mah battery in 2025... And still rely on 25W charger... What a genius!
kind of agree. I mean, what else can we ask from phones this days? they can do pretty much anything. Some of their features are actually very useful while some are just cool additions made to stand up from the competition, like the curved screen.
As an S23 owner, they should have taken out the curved screen way sooner. Completely useless and way more fragile than a proper, sturdy flat screen. Objectively the correct choice to go flat and never go back
“Everyone’s bashing Samsung for not using silicon-carbon batteries in the Galaxy Edge, but has anyone noticed Anker and other major battery companies aren’t using them either? If this tech was really ready for mass use, wouldn’t they be leading the way? Let’s be real-there’s more to battery innovation than hype.”
The s25 edge is beyond stupid, the whole selling point of this phone is that it's thin and yet samsung slapped a camera bump on it, literally defeats the whole purpose...
The camera bump is super thin though, and it's about slim body, not the camera bump, you really think fitting a 200 mp sensor without a camera bump is possible?
it's not a model to "make sense", it's to show off that Samsung can deliver a super thin phone with most of the top specs of the ultra, with a reasonable price. The main goal is to put pressure on Apple, which not only is late on the IA delivery but has no thin phone ready to launch. That is a huge victory for Samsung. And personally I think the Samsung Edge will have a good reception and more sales than expected.
Should be called S25 Slim, it makes more sense and it might sell well. If it's called S25 Edge, than it should only have the curved screen, and there are people who still love curved screen phones.
While seeing how thin the engineers can make the components nowadays is amazing, why does the entire phone need to be so thin? Wouldn't it be even better if the phone had some thickness, but the extra space would be used for a bigger battery and more features like a headphone jack? Heck, you could even get rid of the camera bump. Remember the times when you could lie your phone flat on a table without any wobble? That's what I find really interesting about the Pixel 9a. Whilst many people have issues with putting their phones in their pockets, I doubt it ever was caused by the phone being too thick (at least in the last 10 years).
There is a model with more battery and more proportional camera bump, and it is the S25 Ultra (which is thinner and lighter than the S24 Ultra, by the way). Headphones jack are gone, you should move on about it, but you still can buy a usb-c to P2 adapter with an internal DAC to convert from digital to analog audio. The purpose of this Galaxy Edge is not to please a large amount of users, it is to show off what Samsung is capable of,. An incredibly thin phone with most of the top specs, before Apple, and with all the IA features working right now (ouch again, Apple). For me it is a surprise that the price is below the Ultra, that will make it really appealing for more people.
@@hjb2tube I prefer smaller phone with bigger battery not a brick in my pocket like ultra. As for edge yes it's light weight but I don't care for big screen and battery is gonna be shite.
@@Tech_Bro5 I hear you, and Samsung should too. For me the ultra is more appealing because I want the extra stuff even at the expense of battery life. No way this is more technologically advanced than a foldable phone. It's basically foldable phones' component in a slab phone
There are also budget phones that are nearly just as thin with 5000mah+ batteries

Foldable phones do have 2x the width, slab phones dont have that extra room
@@Urban_Goose There were already thinner phones more than 10 years ago. Just to name one, Allview X2 Soul, which was exactly 5.6mm by that time. (i'm pretty sure, the same phone was released by numerous other brand names aswell)

In this thread alone, multiple people have shown interest in this form factor. Guess what, people exist that will buy this phone

Battery life is one of the most important things a phone can have. No matter how good or bad the specs are, you still need a decent battery to be able to use them.

@Loading...440 they'll say, "Apple has done it. They managed to make a pro phone that's lightweight and comfortable. Easy recommendation."

Will be a tough sell from 16 Pro tho.
Samsung is now the only phone brand that focus on innovation... backwards... First they took out the curved display on S lineup, now they put 3900 mah battery in 2025... And still rely on 25W charger... What a genius!
True
kind of agree.
Objectively the correct choice to go flat and never go back
And no more bluetooth on the S Pen
Curved displays are so dumb. All these show are light reflections.
Over time when the battery health declines, you'll see how bad the battery gets.

Yeah, flagship prices for an entry level battery with a top of the line chip. This thing will be lucky to have a 5 hour battery life.
Immediately paused the video when I heard 3900 mah... In 2025. Tf
There's literally a camera bump in 90% of the phones today
It's 200mp sensor btw
it's not a model to "make sense", it's to show off that Samsung can deliver a super thin phone with most of the top specs of the ultra, with a reasonable price. The main goal is to put pressure on Apple, which not only is late on the IA delivery but has no thin phone ready to launch. That is a huge victory for Samsung. And personally I think the Samsung Edge will have a good reception and more sales than expected.

It’s less that + plus though but more money
The video demo was 🔥🔥🔥 If real life is even close, this will be a legend!
I own pixel 9a. It's great.
none of the visor pixels wobble, not even the predecessors to the 9a.
The M series are the ones with big batteries, but at the expense of having everything else worse in terms of specs. With Samsung, is either this or that. Let's hope for new battery tech for the s26.
