As a new zealander, our accents are generally shocking, we pick vowels at random in our words and we speak way too quickly
You're not wrong, but I find it very charming
"we pick vowels at random" is so real😭😭
Ok grammar police, shocking to your ears maybe but please explain what you mean. How the hell do 'we pick up vowels at random?' 🤷
@@MK-oc4gt Just ask any overseas person. Mainly americans. at time they can't understand us.
Another Prime example Taskmaster UK season 9. NZ Comedian Rose Matafeo is on that season, says the word 'shed' or at least shed in our ears but to the British on the show it sounds like 'Shid'.

@@MK-oc4gt You're renowned for your weird vowels ;)
I'm Australian and I had a lady say that I have a lovely accent and that I must be from Boston. I told her that I'm actually Australian and she said "that's not a real place."
Not a real place? That is hillarious! :D
What's your point?😁
@@zounds13 lol
@@AngieSainty that was the second time in the states. The first time was when I was a exchange student and my geography teacher said that I should apologise for Hitler lol
1:08 say something new zealand lol, then says something aussie instead, Gday mate lol
The first thing I saw her in was Power Rangers RPM as.the yellow ranger. Good to see her in more things. Now on Conan!.
as a kiwi, out accent is tough on the ears. very cringeworthy. worst is the south african accent and 2nd is a coin toss of the kiwi and aussie accent. californian accent and english RP is nice. ny/brooklyn and southern us twang is funny and i do it for fun sometimes, especially singing along to a morgan wallen song.
Conan really did grow into his role better and better over time
Nothing wrong with our accent. I'm happy to speak the way we speak.
I like New Zealand accent more than Australian accent
Yeah cause australians go to a bink to get money to buy fush and chups
In NZ if you say you cant bare to see a bear drink a beer it sounds like you're saying I cant beer to see a beer drink a beer😁
If you ever end up at a church lunch, try asking, "pass the pasta, pastor".
how else would you pronounce them? do americans say these three words differently?
can't bear*
Same with hair, hare and here ... they all sound the same in a NZ accent. lol
As a Kiwi, I lived in Australia for quite a while. I told one Aussie I can't mimic the Australian accent because I am too old. He said gr8. He didn't like Aussies that picked up an American accent within weeks. However having studied many accents ours does sound flat. The most colourful accent/language I have heard was actually Northern Chinese. Very melodic
No way bananas are “the most easily bruised fruit“. Look at guava for example that are so easily bruised they can’t even be exported. Or peaches. There must be another 50 tropical fruits that we never see because they would be mushed by the time they got here.
Lovely upload!
I am so glad to see her . The first time i saw Rose it was in Xena .
Interviewing an angel would probably feel exactly like this
She is just lovely. IZombie was a fun show :)
She’s so pretty
As a New Zealander, she still sounds exactly like a kiwi. If I bumped into her on the street in the US, Id still be able to tell through and through that shes a kiwi. I also notice whenever I hear our accent on tv with say like americans or others, our accent sounds weirder and thicker.
As an NZ I literally can't hear our accent, but wouldn't be surprised if it was unpleasant.
Good accents are upper-class brits, the texan twang, and scottish.
Nz accent is not even that bad
Loved the episode of i Zombie where she pretended to be from NZ and put on a fake fake NZ accent.
Gorgeous doesn't even begin to describe her. My god.
New Zealand accent is very classy ❤
i am a kiwi she has a kiwi accent nothing American about her accent and who is she anyway she is no one special in our country ive never seen or heard of her before and been a small country at that to and yeah that's an Ozzie intro g-day mate is not a kiwi accent
Facts
Rose McIver is gorgeous.
I wish they would just let them keep their accents in shows. It would be more interesting
Why she say gooday mate 😂 did she forget that Australia 😵💫😂
Yeah, you're right. Who's she trying to kid? Even though it's a standard Aus/Kiwi greeting, one real Kiwi saying is 'Chur bro' as others on this thread have mentioned. Now that's one that really don't belong to anyone else!! 😉
We share a lot of slang and colloquialisms with Australia, they don't own it all (plus they pinched a lot of our musicians and actors!) ;)
I could walk around and not hear good day mate ever unless it’s an Australian
@@chellycw Yeah I've lived here most of my life too and have never heard 'good day mate' either-strange
Does anyone her in NZ know who this bird is ? Iv'e never heard of her before.
Don’t like the kiwi accent I love it! I can understand why some Aussies would think about some Aussies though (yes coming from an Aussie)
Dart Board.
What do u call a kiwi in a suit ?? Defendant lol.
What do u call a kiwi in a police car ??
Suspect
Lol
The "I like your accent" then the quick "awww" lol
OZ & NZ accents are like American & Canadian accents sound very similar but whatever you do, don't EVER make the rockie mistake & say they sound the same, especially in a bar
I once asked someone enter their PIN number for an eftpos purchase, they said “I don’t have a pin!”
I said “that’s ok you don’t need a PIN number you can sign with pen onscreen instead”.
He was from NZ and I’m Australian.
Then he’s doing hand signs frantically, like he’s holding a pen.
I’m said “oh, a PEN! Here you go and gave it to him”.
Lol so confusing.
I’m from Nz we have a terrible accent but she still has hers she’s sounds very kiwi to me.
as a Kiwi, she's not wrong. I hate our accent more than I hate the South African accent
I love the accent 💖💖💖💖
Kiwis got beautiful decks 👀
They love their houses
She's beautiful and makes me proud as a new zealander, first time seeing her.
A Kiwi accent is an Australian accent with some of the vowels shifted one step. Australian: "A bed is a thing you can have sex in." Kiwi: "Uh bid is uh thung you cun hev six un."
Hot kiwi girl. The kiwi accent may sound funny to us NZders but it's considered to be a very exotic sounding accent. Chur 😊
Her Kiwi accent is actually not that strong. I'm guessing as an actor, she has learnt to pronounce her words closer to the Received Pronunciation of British English, much the same as Cate Blanchett doesn't sound like your average Bogan Australian
Oh that accent melts my heart. She is so hot and that accent is just delightful.
"What should i say?" - in an nz accent.
gives him an ozzy phrase in a semi ozzy tone. nice.
The kiwi and aussie accents are close but have some differences. I love them both. Rachel Taylors Aussie accent is like music to the ear in Transformers.
That is quite offensive that she said that...if your from New Zealand you should be proud of it all! Wow girl stay in America 👎
Exactly. Didnt have to use the word "ugly". Don't even know who this person is anyway 🙄
@chachi16xo So true, I still have no clue who she is. Thanks for your reply 😊
