A singing teacher once commented on this song that if he wrote down all the singing techniques Diana uses here, he would have a list of all the singing techniques. The song is about an orphan who is about to get married and goes to the river to talk to her parents and ask for their blessing. The river is the connection to the world of the dead. The celebration can be heard in the background. That's the swinging part of the music. You probably already know that Diana was in an orphanage. It seems to be her song. Hence all the emotions she expresses admirably here. Diana's acting, the scenery, the dancers. This is musical theatre - at its best.
