My hubby is from Belgium and he is very proud of Belgian foods. When he lands in Belgium, the first things he will eat are the Fries and Brochettes...and beer, of course! And a good Filet Americain inside a good baguette. I am hungry just thinking about it!
I have watched dozens of Brussels' food vlogs...and this one is the best!!!!! You have to tell me your secret though. No other vlogger got it right like you do. You seem to have found (mostly) all great places to eat. You missed one or two but then they are places that many Belgians want to keep non-touristy 🙂. Anyway, great job!!! Maybe you should contact the Brussels tourist board. They should pay you for making such a wonderful overview of the foods to eat when in Brussels.
I just came back from a Europe trip where I stopped for some days in Bruges, Ghent and Brussels. I had some GREEEEEAAAAAT food! I LOVED the "stoofvlees" which is the beef stew, but it was served with fries, not mashed.... probably my favorite food in ALL of Europe, for me anyway. I wish I had seen your video. So much I missed!!!!!!
Places I enjoy eating at in Brussels: - L'Intermezzo, if I want to have pasta - Gatsu Gatsu, for a quick noodle fry - Bia Mara, a Fish & Chips place where I go to eat their spicy Cajun Chicken (as I don't like fish) - Le Conteur, for some really delicious middle eastern food - My favorite place for fries is Fritland - As an alternative to Waffles, visit Maison des Crêpes - Or try Lilicup for some cupcakes - Try Feux de Bengale if you're craving Indian food - Yaki, near Sainte-Catherine has the best Panaeng curry - And finally if you'd like to try some really good horse steak, take a 10 minute train ride to Vilvoorde and visit "De Kuiper". It's the only thing they serve 🙂 Happy to see you enjoyed your time with us though.

As a Brussels resident let me say that Tonton Garby is a terrible place with only tourists as customers. If you want good sandwiches there are plenty of places but a standout is Catherine a cheese and cold cuts store that also does sandwiches. The cheese is perfectly aged (as opposed to Garby's garbage) and the bread is outstanding. For fries forget your choices. instead go to Patatak with home made sauces, or the fry stand on Place Saint-Josse or the two Tabora stands. And for beer there are so many more pleasant places to try the hundres of Belgian beers than the Delirium mess.
With all due respect, I disagree regarding Tonton Garby. 😅 I work nearby and every time I pass by Tonton Garby at noon, there's a long line of mostly locals standing there (en général, ça parle français ;-)), who work in the neighborhood and are on their lunch break. I have yet to meet the first tourist or international person who knows about this place. Also, Garby is a nice man who deserves his success. So I agree with this review. (And I am not related to this man or his business in any way.)
@@carol3640 The place is an internet star. Don't agree about the clientele . However nice Tonton is his cheese is not matured so mostly tasteless (I tried three different sandwiches). The thing is there are at least five places downtown with much better product and many others with better product.
As a Brussels resident, I've known Tonton Garby for more than twenty years and been his local customer when his shop was in Molenbeek, so long before he moved to the city centre. I've always found him to be a competent shopkeeper and gourmet. He's a seasoned traveller, with a genuine interest in many culinary traditions.
What a difference between the Netherlands and Belgium in terms of food! Most Belgians are gourmets (and quite knowledgeable about wine, to match with the food), while the Dutch just have no culinary culture.
@yagi3925 guess my trip to Amsterdam will be short lol. My list for France was huge but looking like Belgium, Netherlands and Germany won't be anything special food wise
Nice video. Very informative. I’ll be heading there in December for a few days as part of my 10-day EuroStar trip from London>Brussels>Cologne and Amsterdam. Will visit some of these places highlighted here.
Will be to brussels for on layovers (there and back again) on my next Shanghai trip. This video was incredibly helpful on where to go for food and drinks. Thanks a lot.
Awesome video guys! It’s really well made 👌😊 we just came across your channel and definitely subscribed. Loved the narration/voiceovers, very well worded and entertaining.
Oh yeah, I forgot, you missed one of Brussels' sognature foods: Shrimp Croquettes and the place to get them is Fernand Obb Delicatessen which also has incredible fries in the shape of waffles and a boudin burger that is peerless.
The prices of 'T kelderke kind of shocked me. That is very affordable for Belgium. So extremely affordable for a tourist trap like Brussels. I am not sure about the pirce for Mussels from "Le Zinneke". 30€ is about the same price you pay here at the coast, but I don't think we should pay that much for mussels. They cost around 9€ for a kilo. It's better to make those creations yourself and experiment. Or visit france were the prices for mussels are acceptable. If you do want to eat real Belgian food for a good price, avoid tourist traps. Go local, we do have a very nice kitchen. Oh and avoid the fritures where you pay 5€ for a small portion of fries. 5€ should give you a family pack outside the tourist zone.
Speaking as a local, places to avoid = Kelderke, Le roi de la gaufre, la Belgique gourmande, delirium bar, all the restaurants between the beginning of Rue de la Montagne going to the end of the street (Place Agora) : they are nasty tourists traps (nothing's home made, some of these places have high hygiene problems and their food is junk food). Places also to avoid = all the restaurants in the Rue des Bouchres around the St. Hubert's Galery. Avoid places where you have that little blue french fries man (or a huge ice cream) = tourists traps. Avoid places where they have coca cola refridgerators. But otherwhise, I see you have found other good places. Ofcourse, we as locals are not going to tell where we go out for food and drinks ;-) but your video is good for tourists and visitors - without falling in these tourists traps. Bon appétit!
@@hassu2149 no just in tourist trap, if you see a restaurant having it, you already know that it's that less that they put in the quality of ingredients
This obsession on streetfood people have still baffles me. Most Europeans would prefer proper lunches and dinners that you can actuallly eat with a knife and fork. 🤣
An excellent and entertaining presentation -but, for greater authenticity and credibility, please work on the pronunciation of the local dishes and products you're featuring. It's not quantum physics.

Wow thanks so much!!! We just took the best parts from other people's vlogs and a dash of suggestions from Reddit 😅😅😅

Hi 👋🏻 love your videos. May i check if most of the places accept card payment or cash only? Especially the fries and waffle places. Thanks
Hello! The majority of places did accept card although we did pay in cash at Friture de la Chapelle. We carried cash all the time anyways just in case
Some tourist that know were the need to go in Brussel. Are you bin to other city like Gent ore Antwerpen
Food in belgium it's the best !

Indeed, nearby I would advise l'anatheme or the new brasserie in the bourse for the food and tpoechenelekelder or le coq for the beers.
Imagine gatekeepers food restaurants.. is that a European thing?

Horse meat s where I draw the line
Is it possible to order the frites/fries without the sauces? Condiments nauseate my nose and stomach.
Yep the sauces are optional 😊
was about to scold you on the waffles...
So why didn't you? 😅
28 am with U ♾️ tc
hi where did you stay in brussels? I am looking for hotel to stay.
We stayed at Centerstay Brussels which was a pretty basic accomodaction but very central and had a great view of the Grand-Place!

is being vegan possible in brussels?
Probably, we just didn't go to the vegan-friendly places 😅

Cuz street food is the best duhhh
Lol you guys stayed within a 500m radius…
But Maison Antoine and Le Zinnecke are 3 kms+ so 😂
It's called "Grand Place" (or "Grote Markt"), not "Palace" ... I'm out. Greetings from Belgium!
😂

You lost me at “grand palace”
How to spot tourists in Belgium: look at the ridiculously excessive toppings on their waffles. How are you even supposed to eat that :D
You eat it very carefully
Belgium food suck same in the Netherlands
