Got the exact one. Love it. It was given to me free. All's I had to do was break my back moving it. No, seriously....it's LOUD, and heavy.
What a beauty!!!!
got mine last Saturday same kind.good grief it was heavy with 2 people.it's awesome
That is a beauty!!!! What a great find!!!!!
We had one just like that. Very powerful console 8 speakers I think 2 15s 4 4s 2 horns.
Это же музей! Мало того, что красиво, к тому же все прекрасно работает, сенсорное управление до нашей Эры и винил Atlantic. Я в шоке!
THIS IS THE BEST CONSOLE IVE EVER SEEN. BUT THE FISHERS WOULD GIVE IT A RUN FOR THE MONEY
Pretty and sounds great! I want at least one good Zenith console myself.
How vinyl was meant to be heard. Just listen to that warmth.
this console was priced 859.00 in 1971
I have TWO like this one. One with the exact same cabinet--one of the louvers somehow got damaged in my old storage garage...and i JUST acquired another one exactly the same EXCEPT that the cabinet is a lighter color. That "320watt" rating is PEAK..BUT a more realistic rating would likely be between 40-50 W/CH. believe me...with it's 15" 3-way speaker system..and a good signal like a CD or Ipod...this console can REALLY ROCK !! One thing to remember...ALL of these old Zenith SS stereos have a lot of "callins" branded capacitors that WILL be bad..and if you want these to sound like they should you HAVE to replece them all. Also..those large germanium outputs on the large separate amp chassis CAN be replaced by silicons such as ECG 130 or maybe 281..with a few mods to the driver ckty. Or just put in ECG 179.
Do the louvers really do anything? Would you be better off without them? Don't get me wrong, it's totally amazing, a very cool unit, but it's look is from AFTER the super cool Mad Men era of really sleek, high-end bachelor pad design that many of the '60s Zenith consoles really exemplified. It's got that overly ornate '70s look with those drawer handles and those geometric panels in the front. Not as bad as some of the later '70s ones with the attempted Moroccan or Spanish look.
I have my parent's old console of that era, complete with Instant Touch. I live in Shreveport, Louisiana. How in the world do I find someone to service it? I was really happy to see this. These units are so cool!
Looks just like mine!
Nice unit .
Those had solid wood cabinets too. No particle board. Very heavy.
I just purchased the same stereo in an estate sale for $50, works great not one scratch on the cabinet. The only thing is the light bulbs burned out in the receiver and I want to replace them. I was able to replace the 4 bulbs for the AM - FM tuner from accessing from the back, however the other lights that are burned out are too far to reach. I was wondering if you have to change them from the back or somehow access them from the front by removing the face plate. If so there doesn't seem to be anyway from the face plate. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
Sorry, I do not know how to remove the panel. I hope someone else here can help. Enjoy your console.
It is such a clumsy control panel with the instant touch chassis
interesting ...the touch control panel is cool...mrfsac you like Kelly Clarkson???!!!..she was singing on the FM radio...the song is (What doesn't kill you) Stronger
Hi! I just purchased the exact one...model # B966. Curious if you're able to provide me a good link for where one can purchase replacement needles for this? Are you willing to email me the original manual?? That would be great if you could.
I'm trying to find the original turntable to this console. I have one too
My brother has this model
Really wish I could get my unit like this services as well! Can you post a video of the arm of the player so I can see how the wires attach? Pretty please!
Shana carreon please is not needed it's annoying
There is a brochure for the model a year older than this one--with the EXACT SAME layout. It sold for $800.00 at the time.--in late 1969-early 1970. That is a LOT of money--WAY over 5 THOUSAND..by today's standards....and to think I just got one for ONE DOLLAR !!
I just bought this same Zenith Console for $80.00 dollars, the radio works but the turn table needs repairs and a needle. Can you tell me the needle model number, please?
Sure, change to the radio in the middle of playing a record, ya that'll work...
i have a similar one, just need the needle for the record player and having troubles finding it, any idea what specific one i need?
order on ebay
I'm 63 years old and I don't know who was a big enough fool to buy wooden stereos back in the seventies LOL. I was like 13 or 14 back in 71 and even I was buying component stereo pieces.
I would like to try to find this. What is the model number?
Owner's manual shows Model 966 and 960. Pretty sure this is 966.
do you want to sell this?
