Martin Seligman seemed to have a lot of questions and eager to learn a lot and a lot ,,,
Dr Martin Seligman, you should take sometimes to focus to learn Buddhism, a lot of Buddha's teachings, sutras and you obtain what you would like to achieve.

I'm thinking you didn't mean to say "electrocuted," seeing as that means he killed the dogs with electricity. I'm not comfortable with dog experiments either, but I hadn't heard that he was killing dogs. I had heard he was shocking dogs with electricity.

Martin's learning and very wise man but a wisdom of the awakening or enligtenment ...he's too arrogant to learn and yet what he thought he found "Positive Psychology" is just one of Eight Noble Truth...he should have learned more as he has no time left soon!

As far as what William Poole said about Martin Seligman electrocuting dogs, he makes a good point. But you can say that he was behind the times. For example were Thomas Jefferson and George Washington horrible people? They had black slaves. In a way they were horrible people but in another way they were a victim of how people thought at that time.

I agree that Martin has done some important work. But as part of his work he was involved with some very cruel experiments, where he electrocuted dogs to prove that helplessness and optimism can be learned. So I think the means don't justify the ends, A Buddhist monk would have never of done that.
