When I went 5 years ago with some friends, we stupidly thought we could drive all the way to Paradise during spring break. Somehow we didn't think it was possible that it could be still snowing in March...
I like how Rocky Mountain women say, "Whooo. Let's back up a little." And then they start explaining things. My mom was one of those Rocky Mountain women. America never had a Rocky Mountain president, right?
Do you think theyll be mad if I tell them I drifted the whole way up and took off my snow chains? Cuz I did. Today. I have snap vids if anyone wants to see lmaoo.
This video lists reasons why the road might close, so which of these reasons apply to the recent and numerous unexplained failures to open? Was it avalanche danger in an almost El Nino year where the snowpack is not built up? Or was it ice on the road in a season with record breaking high temperatures across the region? Or was it perhaps related to the reference made in the video of "staff to provide services"?
Salt only helps with ice and light snow if u have snow falling at above half an inch an hour or more salt has very little effect that effect is worse the colder it gets.
No, this video is referring to Paradise, a developed area within Mount Rainier National Park in Washington State. Learn more at www.nps.gov/mora/planyourvisit/paradise.htm
Great video, Ingrid! VERY Informative!
Good hospitality and great location to visit for tourists or locals. 🥰
Is this video like March? I assume snow sticks for a long time until mid-summer.

Informative video. Thank you!
I am pretty afraid of winter driving honestly. If it weren't for that I'd have no complaints!
Does anyone know if the roads are good right now? March 22, 2019....
Check Road Status at www.nps.gov/mora/planyourvisit/road-status.htm or Twitter for daily updates in the winter at twitter.com/MountRainierNPS

Only 3 days of plowing were wasted on this drivel...
Why is it drivel?
I grew up snow camping there. I loved how deep the snow was. We would always dig caves into the hillside and sleep nice and warm in our ice hut.
No salt?
are you guys nuts?
