"Alexa-Pure"water filtration system is what I owned. Last year I was extremely lucky in being my family member presented me with a"Kagen"water filtration system.
I remember when I was a kid, our house had 4" Italian white water filters that you needed to rub with steel wool to clean the outside surface then reuse. Lasted for years.
Hi again. I used those exact filters and the black carbon elements. So I had 4 filters and 4 fluoride filters that attach underneath inside the clean water tank. I always had to prime them too. Glad you are getting good water filtration. Very important to be sure.
We slaves allow chemtrails... we allow fluoridated water. Then we spend a ton of money to remove the fluoride because we are afraid to publicly oppose it.
I don’t have a Berkey water system in my van ( minivan) I thought about getting the travel Berkey. But instead I purchased the 24oz Grayl water bottle that filters water. So far it works great. I watched a RUclips channel on hiking and backpacking. I carry 6-2.5 gallon water jugs ( for 15 gallons of water) that way I can keep clean as well as make tea and cook. To keep my jugs clean I add a few drops of bleach and let them sit for a bit then refill. This system has worked for me for close to 2 years now. I am not full time but my adventures are about 6-8 weeks out at a time. The refills for the Grayl are 30.00 a piece and last for a long time. As a back up I have a couple Sawyers mini’s. Fantastic video! Because water is essential and every one should have a back up plan other than hitting the water section of the grocery store in case your somewhere without the ability to buy water.
Wow! 2 years for $45? Compare that to the $ & landfill impact of bottled water! Even our Zero filter is more than that: a LOT! And it looks like you saved a lot on the container too. Great video Scott. Thank you. Your research & attention to detail is really important.
i have used a 2 gallon BERKY water filter with the black filters for 6 years before i changed them, i have not had any problems with this system since i owned it if i need to buy another system it will be a bigger system i find my self refilling multiple times a day
Look into courier work. Medical couriers are needed and if you are an independent contractor you work when you want using your own vehicle or a company vehicle. I live in TN, but woke up in IN delivering to a hospital.
Oh wow, that's one of the simplest ones I've seen, thank you for sharing the link! I have ocd about watching things in order, but I've learned to overcome it RUclips 😂. But it can be hard to find a video on a channel, so I appreciate it. And im all about saving money so I made note of the filter brand so I can stock up for future use. I can't wait to be out there exploring. I hadn't thought too much about traveling thru Cali but I've never been. I guess i just assumed it would be too crowded of a state and I would hate driving the highways. Now that I am in my 50s I don't care for highways or interstates at all but I know I'll have to use them. The route you took to cross the golden gate bridge didn't look bad at all and I have always wanted to see that bridge.
I probably will try a different brand of filter next time. They work but seem to need a lot of cleaning. The Daulton ceramic filter candles were my favorite. Driving around the big cities in California isn’t pleasant. The area north of San Francisco, along the coast all the way up to the Oregon border is really nice. It’s a whole other world there. Friendly people and stunning views.
@@StaticCamperVan I love how the containers are clear. I've seen people make their own filters with sand, gravel and charcoal but I just don't feel comfortable with that for some reason. I wrote daulton down. I think I forgot to do it but I'll add that video to my "retirement" list. Lol that's what I call the list for my future adventure anyway. Yes, I would do what I could to avoid the cities. I recently bought a road atlas so when I watch videos I can write down the places that would be good for free parking or beautiful scenery directly on the state map or on a sticky note on the state. I've written down a few of your stops too. I would really like to have a road atlas of a few of the states out west as well but this works for now. I will watch to see if you find a better Berkey filter alternative again. Happy trails!
Yes, you are correct. Rather interestingly, the more filters per unit equals a longer service life. If you can afford more filters up front, it pays off in the long term.

I would prefer glass containers but they pose a bit of a danger in a moving vehicle. Restaurant food containers are generally regarded as the safest plastic option.
@@StaticCamperVan I have a 5 gallon water tank that I fill up at the grocery store. Are you saying that water might need to be filtered? I used to fill up my water anywhere I could find a hose and filter it, but now I feel safe. And I'm happy the taste is always good. But I will look into filtering it if I have reason to. Where do you get your water? By the way, I'm in the same Promaster City as you.
I usually buy my water from a machine. But I also will get water from parks or the random spigot. I definitely notice a difference in the way water hydrates me depending on the type of water. So for that reason, I filter all my drinking water through the Berkey. But I’m extremely chemical sensitive. And I tend to be suspect of any water that hasn’t come directly from a natural spring. The last thing that I want is to cause worry or doubt. But I filter all my drinking water regardless of the source. Why I think everyone should have a water filter is because any number of things can happen to the water supply. Earthquakes can cut the water supply as well as a power outage. It’s my opinion that we should be as prepared as well as we can for emergencies. A simple Lifestraw could be useful in an emergency. I prefer to have and use a Berkey filter because the overall cost is low and it provides a bit of peace of mind.
@@StaticCamperVan Scott, thank you for this reply. It makes sense now. And thanks for the information about the Berkey, I'll look into it. Safe travels, Jared
Good info on the filters. Thanks Scott
Good clean water is an absolute must!

Hello 👋🏼
Beautiful sunset. Be safe.
Thanx for sharing ... I really appreciate it. 🙋☕🌄
Beautiful sunset and music!
I wish I knew how to build my own berkey. I bought the traveler berkey several years ago and love my water. You have such a great mind!
There’s lots of advantages to buying a proper Berkey. As long as you don’t drop yours, it will last forever.

Think you get the containers from smart and final... that's where I get mine from.
These particular containers were bought from a real restaurant supply store. Smart & Final sells them, but only in three packs.
Very creative to make your own:)
Just changed the filters out on mine last week.

I suppose one could fit more candles in the top chamber for faster filtration and longer filter life, if it's not too much of a financial hit.

It probably doesn’t help that Berkey filters are expensive to begin with.

Are you saying you need a water filter if buy filtered water from the store?
I’m saying sometimes the water machines aren’t working. And bottled water is very expensive and not as clean and pure as we might think.
