Hummel Aviation, Hummel UltraCruiser, Hummel H5, Hummel UltraCruiser Aircraft Builder
The UltraCruiser was designed as the first all metal ultralight in 1998. First flights were in 2000. First plan sales were in 2001. Intended for first time builders as well as first time pilots, the UltraCruiser is an easy to build and even easier to fly aircraft.
The design can be built straight from plans up to, and including a full kit. The kit includes predrilled laser cut components. All parts are formed prebent or welded. Wheels, tires, brakes, harness, and even the seat cushion is included. Wing Spar is pre-assembled.
The kit is very complete. Everything is included to complete the aircraft less the engine, prop, spinner, and instruments.

I really like the looks of that H5! Am currently a Sonerai S2L pilot/owner, but really like this H5! Probably not as fast as the S2, but likely a bit more forgiving lander with a slower stall speed and easier to fly correctly, I would guess. There may be an H5 kit build project on the horizon for me! :-)

Thanks for the good interview with pretty good sound in the noisy environment (although you need an even longer shotgun microphone held just under the chin) but not for the reverse stereo.

He was operating from an uncontrolled airport is my guess, if I recall you don’t need a radio to fly unless you’re in controlled air space

This gentleman said he went down to the airport to taxi around. How he was able to do this without the proper communication devices to be in contact with air traffic control?
Or do you even need permission to fly an ultralight?
I would like to buy a Hummel but I'm trying to understand when and where you are allowed to fly. Must you always 5ake off from an airport ?
