A lot of things in this video like looking rude (appearances in general), being careful of males, etc don't just apply to kpop. It happens to almost every women! And most of the time society doesn't care about it 😒

i'm pretty sure that in the last lolita movie there was a scene with the little girl wearing smudged lipstick. not anything to do with the japanese fashion, just the book "Lolita" and everything derived from that book. that's why the smudged lipstick was considered like lolita imagery.

i feel like this video should have included some specific cases because alot of these seem vague and come across as dismissible but when you know the actual cases shes talking about it makes it alot more sickening

SK is toxic af, not just towards female idols, but towards idols in general. They get criticized for any minor mishaps, that may not even have been noticeable if someone didn't bring it up. The comments towards Hani taking off her heels really upset me; the girl was IN PAIN. LITERAL PAIN. Ingrown toenails are no joke. I suffered from that condition for a long time, and let me tell you, it's not fun, even if you're not constantly wearing super high heels. I'll never understand how critical & objective SK society is towards idols, and women. This needs to stop. I hate SK law, I hate how desperate and how sociopathic K-netz can be at times. You may come @ me for saying this, but I had just about enough of this bs. Thank you to the creator of this video, this needs to be talked about more.

Even though they are serving in the military, they also have a break where they can go out and have some time with their family. For exam, when Suho had a break, he spent it with Sehun and they watch Xiumin's musical. Something like that. So in case of Chen, he can have chance to go out and visit his family during break.

The Red Velvet and Irene debut received a lot of criticism from toxic fans, but now they are even the best idol group alive.
The haters criticized irene for being arrogant. In fact, irene is very warm to her members and fans and to others. No matter how many haters you pull down, she's still top visual of 3rd generation GG and stilll achieving success.

I love that y'all are talking about this stuff but that channel doesn't always present everything fully correct just an fyi. she even framed the recent ban of certain idol activities (which includes "effeminate men" btw) in china's industry as something progressive, like... the channel serves her own perspective as facts in a nuanced way that easily can mislead your own opinion. also she leaves out a sh!t ton of actual situations she could of talked about.
looking forward to more opinion based vids though. maybe look up more of the countdown vids? or blog posts? idk 😊
also your opinions on this topic in particular are very warranted and genuine and appreciated, especially as males trying to understand. The dieting is for bg and gg and is extreme but like .. twice was said to have eaten only apples or something for awhile... and a lot of female idols dorms are cctv 24/7, which some male idols deal with too but not as often. The girls aren't even allowed to read books with out the public sending death threats if the book is in any way something they don't like.
a lot of what was talked about in this video can apply to both bgs and ggs tbh - a lot of fans seem to not think about how their male idols are weighed weekly, told when to lose the weight and how, forced to show abs they have to work their asses off to get, there are boy groups who were literally beaten by their managements and sent to "entertain" ppl and were living in no electricity dorms and living off of packets of ramen between them and more, girl groups as well but these are issues the whole industry faces... however the females aren't really allowed to show personality traits imo that are anything but soft and proper. the groups who do are more popular internationally but not in Korea itself. there's a lot of hate the girls get that the guys don't. they're critiqued on a whole different level of intensity.

I think theres one same version for Male Idols... I mean not exactly same... But theres also a video about a mistreatments towards male idol from somewhere loll... I remember I watched it... But I'm not sure if its from her channel too or from the other channel... So, I hope you can react to that too... And make you realizes that overall S.Korea is full of toxicity when it comes to Kpop

I appreciate you guys reacting to such topics and being so respectful and supportive, but i also feel like this video was not enough, I’ve seen that kpop female idols where mistreated by their managers, staff taking sneaky pictures behind their backs , female idols being touched in places hands should not be on, female idols receiving disgusting comments from hosts in tv shows, female idols being sexualized as they always have to wear short skirts where we can see through whenever they dances and they always feel uncomfortable with those as some assholes in the crowds would enjoy taking sneaky videos, and more and more… this video just talked very briefly about things, there is more troubling and disturbing facts that wasn’t said in that video

I don't love the tone of the video (not the reaction but the video you’re reacting to) to be honest. There are many inequalities in the Kpop industry and things that female idols have to deal with that male idols don't. But I think some of the points made either lacked context/proper examples or were simply just not really incidents of gender inequality. The last one for example, I can think of at least 3 boygroups that were mistreated in the exact same way or even worse by their companies. So was the group in the video really treated this way because they were girls or was their company just shit?
Also, it might be true that there is more focus on female idols appearances
, but it's not like male idols are free to look however they want. Male idols might not talk about it as openly or specifically but following stray kids closely, I know how often they go on diets, and stop themselves from eating and how much they worry about their weight. Male idols also have self image issues and often times eating disorders bc of the industries standards, so the language being used in this video does feel a bit dismissive of male idols and their issues here and there.
As for dating scandals, I feel like it really depends on the particular case. Sometimes the female idol gets more hate, sometimes the male idol gets more hate and sometimes people dont really care.

Exactly. I really dont like kookiliets videos. This video gave me some antiman feels and i am not here for it. The body image thing and Media and "Fans" critizing idols about their looks, weight and behaviour is sadly universal. One of the examples i can think of is txt yeonjuns weight being evaluatedt a lot and soobin telling the comenter to Look at themselves first before commenting. Saying he works hard on his weight and looks. My brother has bolemie so i know how such comments about weight can effect your View on yourself. Its not gender specific. Same with the uncomfortable advances by seniors. It hAppens to all genders. Remember everyone could become an offender and or make others comfortable its not about being men. And i know this might sound weird but i actually dont have a problem with dating bans that last for like 2-3 years bc that is the time it normally takes for idolgroups to establish themselves. So it makes sense to have this ban to ensure there will be no distractions. And if the company decides to kick them out of thr group for literally BREAKInG the contract they themselves signed then i am sorry to say this its the idols own fault. Its not just some rule its literally in the CONTRACt. If u break your confidentiality to your work then you are also to be fired.

exactly what I was thinking too. this video showed what idols have to go through in general, not specifically female idols. female idols ARE held to a higher standard but this video did not provide good examples

    • @jebalifyouplz
      @jebalifyouplz 2 года назад +8

yes. we all know how intensely unfair the gender double standards are in the entertainment industry and in the kpop industry itself. but kookielit always frames things in a way I don't like. this video didn't talk about the huge issues some female artists and groups have had.

Women all over the world are still experiencing these double standards. Job wise or just in general...like in some countries they are not allowed to go to school and pursue an education or are allowed to vote. So this is not just a problem in kpop...it still is a problem in general. For the kpop references this video featured...well yeah, it is morally questionable...no debate there but we have to look through the South Korean lense and not the western one. They have very distinct ideas of how a man has to look and to behave and how a woman has to look and to behave. Strong woman aren't really desirable there...bc then the man can't fulfill his toke as the saviour and superior.
That's is...thank god...something that is gradually changing. I hope that one day females all over the world can live in peace and how they want to live. Same goes for female idols.
