Thank god there isn't an achievement for all golden berries but only a different save file colour and I think a stamp Edit: I found out about golden flags :(
Such an amazingly sweet video, you really captured the emotional vastness of Celeste and how it communicates its ideas through how the game mechanics make the player feel. Especially your interpretation of Mirror Temple felt so fresh, I haven't heard anyone on RUclips talk about it through this angle! Subbed, can't wait for more great videos :DDD Also side note, you might wanna try wrapping a sock or an arm of a sweater around your mic, it'll help soften up the sound quality!
The eyes are a look at Theo's stress and anxiety. As an influencer, he feels like he always has so many eyes on him and it makes him feel really pressured. The crystal shows how this makes him feel trapped by his audience's standards and expectations. The eyeball at the end represents the culmination of the pressure he feels and Madeline helps him to strike back and realize that he shouldn't feel that pressure from others, and should focus on himself.
I can't believe I forgot to favorite them. Thank you for pointing out this grand oversight of mine But yeah, they're amazing. Up there with Resurrections, Farewell, and Joy of Remembrance (My other three favorites)
i think chapter 3 has much more hidden connotations that lead directly from madeline's codependent relationship with her ex and potentially mother (from the dream phone call sequence at the end of chapter 2). oshiro being a ghost is perfect as its as if he is haunting her like her ex still clearly is mentally. the way mr oshiro acts is exactly how madeline's ex is inferred to have acted towards madeline. i also think the hotel as a setting is perfect, because while its a place of accomodation, its not a home, which is probably how madeline felt living with her ex. however, i do get why this would be one of the weakest chapters story wise because the connotations are a lot less obvious than chapters like 2, 5 and 6 which are very in your face about it also fun fact: the sheet music for scattered and lost is extremely interesting, one of the reasons being that lena stacks a bunch of sharp symbols in a row in some places, with more and more every time. this eventually becomes super unconventional for musical notation, which means that the only reason that would make sense for doing this would be the fact that its meant to represent clutter/cobwebs
@@xela953 it’s been almost a year since I’ve made this video and my thoughts have shifted a bit on chapter 3 it’s still my least favorite but a lot of elements have grown one me. Scattered and lost is one of my favorite tracks from Celeste and I never thought about what Oshiro was meant to stand for, it’s a really interesting idea the game goes with but they really don’t use him as much as any other character which makes him my least favorite part of the game and makes chapter 3 the weakest for me still most elements form every other chapter are important to the overall story in some way (Theo in chapters 4 and 5 or chapter one introducing you to the game)
your editing style with the transitions between ranking reminded me alot of Schaffrillas Productions. That's when i realized: damn, schaffrillas NEEDS to play this game and make his own ranking
18:37 this is really true and important imo unfortunately I cheated part of farewell out of frustration when I was a kid and now I feel like I'll never truly be able to enjoy celeste's story
I understand people disliking chapter 3, but I still feel that many simply dislike it because the chapter is probably the most frustrating. It has a major difficulty spike over chapters 1 and 2. Story wise, Ridge might be more significant because of the end with Theo. However, speaking of mechanics, I kinda prefer Chapter 3 over those of Ridge. Casually, wind is annoying and snowballs are interesting, sometimes mildly irritating. From a speedrunner's perspective, the wind isn't there and the snowballs can fuck off. The number of times I have died at the very end of a room because a snowball was thrown and I had literally no chance or way to dodge. So annoying.
It is easily the worst chapter, but also still amazing. Even the worst chapter of Celeste is some of the best gameplay to exist, and that goes to show just how amazing this game is
Surprised reflection made it as high as it did. I found the feathers to be one of if not the only mechanic in the game that felt somewhat unintuitive and janky (using it with arrow keys is HELL)
I agree, but the thing is, as with (in my opinion) every mechanic in celeste, once you have spent like 20 hours playing with them, you achieve enough mastery for it to feel snappy and exhilarating. The only exception imo is the wobble on reflection boosters
Doesn’t that like add to the dash mechanic in the chapter? Shows how you can get through certain areas of the game without dashing at all which the game later uses
I think of forsaken city as a platforming challange where you are interduced to some new mechanics. I feel that all the moves (jump, climb, dash) are given equal priority. Whereas in old site the main mechanics is dream blocks which are a regular block if dash does not exist. In old site you will dash a lot more than climb or jump. As the level is centred around it so I feel old sites main mechanics is dash
@@adithyarajesh6750 I think the mechanics of jump and climbing are in the tutorial level where they’re the main focus they’re already mechanics in the game and they’re the main ones so of course they would be used a lot in forsaken city
