As you were discussind the cracks I was saying to the screen, "Don't fill them! Don't fill them!" I guess you heard me. That bowl looks almost like a polished stone. Beautiful! Be well, Phil.
The cracks add so much character to an already gorgeous piece. I was holding my breath the whole time, though! Spend time with your family, enjoy the holidays, and don't worry about a video. You more than deserve a week off! Hope all goes well with the health stuff. Take care of yourself above all else...you are a treasure!
Great decision, Phil, to leave the cracks be. Filling them would have ruined the character of this bowl. It's like the bowl is smiling back at you. I love it. It's vintage, Phil Anderson! Enjoy your family next week. No need to worry about putting out a video. I think I speak for many of us, we are just extremely grateful you share your talents with us. A very merry Christmas to you and yours! We will see you when we see you. Thanks!
Phil, the cracks enhance the beauty of the bowl. Filling them, in my opinion, is a risk that isn't worth taking. Take care of yourself first. We'll be here when you get back.
The cracks show the wonderful talent that you have when such a rough looking piece of wood sits on your lathe. You have a wonderful gift and you offer it for us to enjoy. I love your weekly offerings, complete with cracks.
You always make beautiful pieces that highlight the beauty of the wood. Cracks and all. Merry Christmas to you and yours. I wish you a strong immune system to help you speedily through your health issues. 🙏🏼
I love the shape, the grain, the open cracks, and the sloping transition on the rim from worked to natural edge. That shape combined with the cracks calls to mind the rotary hook on a sewing machine. Also you expressed doubts about the ratio of sapwood to heartwood, but I think that's perfect too. This might be my new favorite Phil Anderson piece!
The colors were beautiful before you started. The cracks add characters to it. Came out looking amazing. Thanks again, Phil, for sharing with your RUclips family
I agree with you Phil, what a beautiful piece. Don’t worry about next weeks video, we’ll be here when you get back. Take care of yourself and enjoy your family. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
One of a kind masterpiece Phil. Cracks are always a feature and never a flaw, just like worm holes and spalted wood. Have a great holiday season Phil and Phil Family.
Phil my wife and I enjoy watching your videos especially because you allow the wood to be what it is. glad you did not change it up and fill the cracks. look forward to your next project.
I like it! I'm glad you didn't fill the cracks. Those are the coolest feature on the bowl! It's kinda Zen also. Thanks for showing us such a beautiful piece of art!
Absolutely love the ball. I love the cracks. It’s just outstanding. Take care of yourself and we’ll all be here when you’re back. Blessings for the holiday season
Hey Phil, this is one of your VERY best (IMO). I loved how you used the "files" your wife left you. What a subtle memory maker. Have a great season Phil.
Phil, you are a man of the times! Just like the uncertainty of so much UAP’s, UFO’s and Drones, you knock out a bowl that can only be from you… well, here it is, the first Drone Bowl in the books!!! 🙏🏼👍🏼😎
You have more faith in wood than I do. But you proved to know what you are doing. My brother is having neck surgery the 26th so I understand. A very nice bowl.
With this the last Thursday before Christmas, I would be remiss if I didn’t wish you and your entire family a very Merry and Blessed Christmas. Wishing you good health in the Ne Year. Love olive wood.very nice, Sir.
Howdy Phil. Cracks & all, your bowl is gorgeous. Like us, it has it defects & problems but that just establishes the character within all of us right? I have a couple of slabs of Olive like yours but the cracks aren't nearly as deep. Now I have a lot more confidence & knowledge as to what to do with them. Don't be concerned about next week's video but concern yourself with your own health upkeep. Merry Christmas to you & all of your great family and have a Happy & safe New Year. I'm sure that myself & all of the other viewers will look forward to your next video whenever it's posted. Take care and keep turning. Bill Riley
Another beauty Phil....the cracks help make it...nice looking finish too. Have a great Christmas with family and friends. Rest up........❤ yeah, you got it...we all love ya.
The cracks are fine. No need to fill. Looks great! I love some olive wood. I’ve turned some beautiful guitar knobs from olive and made new wedding rings for my wife and I earlier this year.
Very pretty Phil. I like the cracks .the grain is beautiful and to me it's a are piece. 🙏 you'll be in my mind this holiday season... and I'll be sending some positive thoughts your way
Beautiful, cracks and all. The cracks are always nice, it’s the risk assessment during turning that makes it turn out well. Glad you were cautious and “lucky”. Merry Christmas.
Hi Phil- What a wonderful piece. Between the Olive wood and the artistic cracks it turned out awesome. Thank YOU for sharing with all of us viewers. You are one of my favorites and I wish you good health and a Merry Christmas with family.

Stay healthy, bless you and have a wonderful holiday season with your loved ones. ❤ 🎉 😊
First of all, enjoy your Christmas and take care of your health. We can live without w video or two. Beautiful bowl cracks and all. It's like life, imperfections surrounded by the beautiful grace of God.
You had me on the edge of my seat! I love the way it turned out. The cracks are wonderful, and I love the way the ledge falls from the top, making the wood look like it folded and slumped. What a great piece! Take good care … 🥰
I love love this bowl! It has so much character! At times I was holding my breath, fearing those cracks would come apart, lol! I love the cracks!!❤ To quote Ricky Nelson in the song "Garden Party", 'you see, you cant please everybody, so you gotta please yourself!' Im glad you kept working on this until YOU were happy and satisfied! Thanks, Phil! Merry Christmas!!🎄🎄❤❤
Beautiful..olive wood is my favourite wood to turn. I have turned 200yr old petrified olive wood in Greece and the colour is dark chocolate brown and caramel..the older the tree the more intense grain and colour..plus it smells amazing when you turn it..
Wow, this one was tricky. I think is the cracks that I can't get my mind around. They add so much to the piece. Thanks Phill. Only the best, my friend,as always...
The cracks are just fine! I'd rather see voids than epoxy. That's why I love your channel. You don't see things like that as flaws, they are natural features and how the wood wants to be. Very nice bowl. Take care of yourself and, if we don't see you next week, we'll see you later.
Phil - the bowl is a piece of art. The amount of time you take on the finish pays off 10 fold. Merry Christmas to you and your family. Prayers for you❤️🙏🙏
