Jarred, I have really had heavy on my heard to find a piece of land that I can use to grow food for the needy in this area. To do this, I will need a small tractor much like you have and I think I would also look for a subsoiler. Thanks for sharing and showing us how easy that looked.

i had to run a trench over a driveway that had about 10 different layers of top dressing on it. my sub soiler and an 8n made short work of that. no farm with a 3point should be without that handy lil piece of equipment lol

How come that seems almost impossible with other "Tractor" related Video information? You know what I mean? I really don't need to watch someone operate a implement throughout the entire 10 Acres of a project, right? Haaah ha, Lol. I just picked up a used midsize Tractor and can't wait to use the subsoiler/ripper that came with it! Watching you , the power of that attachment in action surprised Me. ONe of your readers mentions a "Shear Pin" that is vital. If theres something big down there, I'm sure I'll be the one to find it! I will for sure find one. I don't have the sub-soiler attachment, but do have a middle buster, and have used it a few times and love how it works. It is about to be used one more time to dig out a hole to bury my cable from my satellite dish to my house. I had buried one line before, but dug it up by accident and have to replace it with a new one.
Always a way to get the job done!
Will you put some oil on those threads, hate that squeaking noise, and then after all that you still need a shovel and then wait wheres part 2..............something about installing a water line, must be still in progress, but hey nice video thanks for sharing.

Nice video, but dang you now I want one of these. ;) I need to drop 100 feet of main line to the new barn this would be great for that rather than renting a trencher. ;)
The trencher is good if you need to go deeper to get below your frost line.
32 - 36 inch frost line for us. I put 300 yards of waterline in at 48 inches to give us plenty of wiggle room room with a trencher but the electrical can go at 24 inches and it will be in 4 inch conduit The subsoiler would be perfect.

there is a attachment for your subsoiler that will install your water line as you pull your subsoiler
Yes, but good to note that it is likely only useful to folks like me who live in areas with very shallow frost lines. If you need the waterline DEEP, then it probably won't do the job.

Good advice about getting implements for a tractor that don't cost thousands of dollars and can actually help you get some work done. Will that Rhino Sub-soiler cut through tree roots or will the roots bust up the Rhino? I have a 33hp compact tractor and will need to break a lot of tree roots in an area that was just cleared of trees. Appreciate your assist. Thanks
Well, of course, there are hair-sized roots and human-sized roots - so yeah. I'd suggest that there is indeed a limit, but I don't know what that limit is.
Would sub soil plowing be benificial in a low till system? It seems to me that it would be a good first step for reclaiming pasture land to small scale market garden land assuming the equpment waa already accessible with little overhead.

Why not go back with the backhoe after breaking the soil with this? Just curious. I'm running an electric line to the garage and hit solid clay that my backhoe wouldn't touch. It just kept pulling the tractor back and dragging the outriggers. I got one of these things coming to break up the clay and plan to remove the soil, if necessary, with my backhoe. If you make passes along side each other say a foot apart or so you should be able to easily backhoe it out. Just sayin'.
Because I don't have a backhoe :-(

Grease your top link, and that implement would dig better if you angled the tip better. Looks like you adjusted it too much.
How much it costs?
Did you ever try ripping up small tree (under 6" trunk) roots with that implement?
it will do it but I would recommend getting the models with a shear pin in case you hit a stubborn one. cut both sides and then up the middle and it usually pops out.
Thanks for the suggestion. I've ordered the one from Northern and will pick it up Friday. I'm pretty sure it has the shear pin.

Aw, go ahead and dig up the danged electric line. It'll make sure fun of the job, what with the sparks and all...plus then you can run a new electric line with your sub-soiler. he he he he

Are those rears 13.6X38 Firestone SAT 2's by any chance? They look perfect for our sizes tractors. I ask because I'm in need of a new set of rubbers for my Deere and I believe the SAT 2 6PLY bias to be the best overall choice
