Donating electrons, pH... I love you Angie! I’m an esthetician and your approach is similar to the approach I’ve always taken when talking to clients. Ingredients and efficacy is all-important...NOT price point.
Thank you for saying so. I love my esthetician but I often feel like she’s pushing me to medical grade = expensive skincare that they sell. I have a hard time dropping $150 on a serum though I know it’ll probably work. Fortunately she is also honest about some more affordable brands and ingredients when she deems them worthy although it’s a task to find them.
Your makeup looks beautiful today. Honestly it always does but today it’s even better. I hope you will do a quick tutorial. Thank you for your excellent content!
I loved this video!! I appreciate you going above AND beyond, taking time to perform a PH test on these products. You help us consumer spend money wisely! Thanks Angie!

I'm so thankful for your channel. I'm 52 years old and never thought about my skin until I found your videos about a year or so ago. I follow your morning skin care routine and use everything you do. At night all I use is my cleansing balm, cerave facial cleanser along with my tao facial brush and my curology with tretinoin. That's it and my skin has never looked better. Thank you so so much, Angie, for doing all the research on the products for us. You're the best ❤
Same goes for me.. except that I am 54.. I discovered you during the beginning of the pandemic. My business (a gym) was shut down for two months and I watched many of your videos (while rowing on one of my rowers that I brought home from the gym) .. I finally had time to invest in my skin care. Thank you for doing the research and sharing it with us❣️
Timeless for the win! And it’s SO affordable. I’ve been using it for over a year based on your recommendation, and it’s given me beautiful results. Also, Timeless has a sale every few months so I stock up, and keep it in my fridge.
OH EM GEE ANGIE! PLEASE do more like this! Everyone has different skin and not all makeup works for everyone, but THIS! This science REALLY speaks to everyone! THANK YOU!!
As a biogeochemist, I love it when you do these videos. One thing you can do is get the ordinarys l-ascorbic powder, mix it with water and their alphahydroxy toner and their Ferulic acid, get out your handy test strips to figure out best ph, put it in brown glass bottle, and whamo very fresh, water based vit c serum. I mix up about 2 weeks worth at a time. So for about $30 I can make up about 6 month supply. And I put it on my hands/arms/chest too
To make things perhaps a little easier, Michelle from labmuffin beauty yt channel has the exact recipe for mixing l'ascorbic acid + water to reach the correct PH. She has a PhD in Chemistry and cosmetic science.
I have been using Timeless Vitamin C for about a year, due to your recommendation. I too am glad to know it is still the best! I also use their Metrixal Synthe 6 and CoQ10 serums. I've been very happy with all Timeless products I've tried.

I had tried the l'oreal version of silicone-based vitamin c serum and thought the same thing - my other products aren't going to get through that silicone layer to do my skin any good. This was before Timeless put their Vitamin C serum in the pump bottle and I was trying to find something that wouldn't oxidize on me before I used it up. Now that I can get it in the pump bottle, I'm sticking with my tried and true Timeless! Thank you for this very informative, invaluable video!
Angie thank you for this video. Your fact finding is so helpful and really helps us navigate all the deceptive marketing created by the cosmetic industry.
I posted the same question, not sure what happened to mine. I think as long as you add it to a moisturiser that has water in it, you should be good. I mix mine with cerave lotion, which contains water.
Ok, this may be my most favorite video you have done.......SOO GLAD Timeless did well......I use it because you have always noted how well it performs....THANK YOU ANGIE!!!
A dermatologist on another channel said that the Cera Ve vitamin C is a good choice to apply it after washing with a low pH wash. She also said not to use it at the same time as you use tretinoin.
I just love your videos, Angie. I can figure out what I want watching your videos, not staring at an Ulta aisle for 20 minutes and leaving with nothing because it's all just too overwhelming. I also LOVE the fact that you list everything you're wearing. I want to try your lip colors that you're wearing today. Beautiful! ❤💜🧡💛💚💙
Yay for science! That was fun! The sound effects were a cute bonus! There is no way we could go shopping in Target like you did and figure this out ourselves. I was about to buy the Cerave. Thanks for saving us the time and money. And please thank your dad too 🌸
I am so impressed with you! I am a biochemist by training and even I have not tried this!! Love it!! I gave up on vitamin c a couple years ago bc I did not want to do the research you’re doing!
I tested the L'oreal Revitalift 10% Vitamin C serum to a pH of around 2.5. I've seen it priced as low as $18, and think it could be a nice drugstore option. It's a waterless formula packaged in a metal squeeze tube to prevent oxidation. The tube is a little annoying, but the product is stable, isn't irritating, and feels moisturizing, which makes me think that it would be a good option for beginners or those with dry and/or sensitive skin.
Timeless serums are the best and most trustworthy... thank you Angie for recommending them...I have been using them for few years even though it costs heaps to have them shipped to Australia.
I'm so glad to hear Timeless is good. I have a problem with the adding of Vitamin E because it can be derived from wheat germ, which ends up making me sick since I can't have gluten. Timeless has said they don't derive theirs from vitamin E so that one is safe. I will also find one that just doesn't have that ingredient in it at all. It normally wouldn't be that much of an issue since it's on top of your skin, but in this case it seems to because you are adding it daily and in areas where it could travel into places it can be absorbed such as the edge of your mouth, nose or eyes. So I'm glad to hear this about Timeless. They went to their supplier of vitamin E and found out from the source that it does not come from wheat. I like that about them - it shows they care about their customers. Thank you so much for doing this, Angie! xox, Melissa
Mellissa 🌺 I hope you don’t mind some extra skin love. Yes years ago Vitamin E was only derived from wheat. Now there are alternatives. I love PILI oil a strong and healthy source of Vitamin E from the PILI tree in the Philippines. When used along side Vitamin C both become even more absorbing and more powerful ( there are actual studies on this). Vitamin E does penetrate the skin. I have used this for years and I just thought I would share another option. Blessings Mellissa and Angie. 🍑🙌🏻Lisa
I'm not sure whether you have an actual allergy to wheat (gluten) or a Gluten malabsorption syndrome (such as Celiac, Sprue), but in general, people with gluten malabsorption through the gut, (which is a mechanical disturbance in the gut which disallows it from getting into the system, and passes through, causing bloating, and other issues, such as weight loss) can generally, tolerate it well, through the skin. Vitamin C, is very unstable, and needs a vehicle such as vitamin E, to penetrate the skin, and give the most benefit. I'm glad you brought this, very interesting topic up. God bless you, and stay safe.
@@mueeza1 Oh thank you for that! Mine is Crohn's Disease and suspected Celiac so I try to avoid it. Yes, most things with wheat in it that sits on the skin I do just fine with, and don't give it a second thought. And it shouldn't with C, and E. But for some reason, it seems to. Now it could have been I was going to have a flare with my Crohn's at these particular times anyway, and it was coincidence that I had starting trying a different one. I've also had really good luck with Skinceuticals AOX 20, which doesn't have the Vitamin E, but it is just ridiculously expensive! I was just struck that Timeless notified people that they had checked and theirs wasn't sourced from any wheat products. I thought that was really good of them to do that, whether it was for good PR or not, it was still a positive thing, I thought. Anyway, I have enjoyed discussing this so much! I always get so much information from reading comments because people bring so much knowledge.
Love the chemistry lesson! I appreciate the educational aspect of your skincare vids. Also, I am excited about The Ordinary being effective and so affordable. I have been using Timeless for a few months now, which I am also loving for a reasonable price.
This is fascinating! Thank you. I bought Timeless on your recommendation. But I also wanted to mention how obsessed I am with your natural makeup application, much of which is drugstore palettes. Could you do a video on your favorite palettes some time? You and Stephanie Marie have the most consistent, weareable, every day, no makeup makeup look of everyone. I hang on every word.
If your skin is dry, I wonder if you dampen the skin and then apply the Ordinary vitamin c if that will help the crystals dissolve? Plus, products go deeper into the skin and quicker when damp.
@@kmjdebay dr dray for instance. Actives should be put on dry and hydrated skin. So normal humectants and creams on damp skin. And then once completely dry, put on actives like Tret and vit c
What a great experiment! Wish you had added L’Oréal Revitalift Vit. C serum, too. It’s a waterless formula- excellent reviews, and honestly, after finding the Timeless to be a bit too harsh on my skin, have been loving the L’Oréal. Hope it’s not just in my head! 😅
Thank you for the work you put into the topics of skin care and beauty products. I work full time taking care of patients (hint, science is what I need to know about a product). I don't have the time to do all of the research that I want to know about (exactly what this video helped me with). I like timeless, I don't like the new packaging, unfortunately, it's me, so I needed to pick out something else for my vitamin C step. Thank you again.
I don't know if I've gotten lucky or what, but my Timeless bottles (bought the 4 oz big one last time) so far don't leak. I probably jinxed myself by saying that and the next one I buy will be leaking all over the place.
Thanks Angie for the update, I’ve had good results from The Ordinary Ascorbic Acid 8% plus Arbutin and also Melano CC, I tried timeless it did nothing for me at all, just goes to show we’re all individual and you don’t need to spend ££’s for good skincare x
I’m a chemistry nerd myself and I was geeked out over the pH test! Thanks for sharing such great info . I also use Timeless ... just mix it in with my cerave moisturizer in the morning and I’m good to go! Glad I was using a great product to begin with and at a great price too 😊
I had tried timeless a long time ago when it was in a dropper from your recommendation and it gave me blackheads. I hated it. I tried SkinCeuticals, Maloove, Dr. Hendrics, and ordinary Vitman C in the silicone. My favorite is......drumrole pleeeeasse. It is the L'asorbic acid powder from the ordinary with their and I mix it myself with Ferulic Acid, and reversortal. It makes such a difference in my skin that other people comment all the time.
Always love your scientific videos! I'm wondering what you think about lasorbic powders? If mixed with vitamin E, would this be a good alternative (perhaps better since your mixing at the time?)
I have tried many vit c formulas and had best luck with the TO 23 percent it showed the best results on my skin but I don't wear makeup daily so the granular texture doesn't bothet me
The best vitamin C serum is by Obaji. I’ve tried them all on the market and nothing compares . When u put it on ur skin physically changes in front of you , almost like u got a face lift and your face looks so glowy and beautiful
Yay SCIENCE! Thanks Angie. I'm sticking with Timeless. Price is right and it works. I thank the universe every day that I found you. You are the voice of reason... and science!
I was wondering if you ever used any of the Paula's Choice products and if they are worth the praise they get? Thanks for the video, very informative as always, xo-s
Some are really good, some are overhyped nonsense she always complain about but now that her company was bought, prices are way up higher and unnecessary amount of redundant products, that being said, the good thing about this brand, always fragrance free, proper PH for their exfoliants to work and accurate concentrations or active ingredients, like any brand, they have good and soap products, it’s commendable these products are not potentially harming like some companies have obnoxiously harming products.
@@Watcher8888 I agree that Paula's Choice has some good products, like 2% BHA Liquid exfoliant which I love, also used to love her cleanser but after trying The Ordinary Squalane Cleanser switched to that because it really cleanses the large pores on my nose. Mostly using The Ordinary products now except Vit C because it feels gritty. Agree about the over-hyped useless products! I'll have to try Timeless!
I love the science behind and the logical way you present and compare. I love that your Dad helps out. I trust the advice from you and your Dad. I would welcome your thoughts on the Geek and Gorgeous Vitamin C serum. Thank you for keeping it real.
Oh my gosh… I love the scientific side of you and his experiments were amazing. I’ve been using timeless now for about four years… Just do not see a reason to change it works it’s reasonably priced goes on sale a lot, I’m all in.
She said in her other Vitamin C serum video that the other The Ordinary Vitamin C products are made with the ester forms of Vitamin C which she does not recommend.
Angie as a fellow science nerd (I'm a nurse) I love your reviews. Why on earth would a manufacturer put petrolatum in their skincare? So appreciate your solid information. You've saved me much time and money over the years. Many thanks. You look gorgeous by the way.
I do some amateur cosmetics formulating. [Personal use only, I don't sell and never will.] I don't use petrolatum myself, but it does have uses. First, even though it's derived from petroleum, it's so highly purified that it's safe to use. Petrolatum is an excellent occlusive, trapping moisture on your skin. It's one of the few ingredients that are FDA approved occlusives. It's also consistent. Natural oils, butters and waxes can vary a little from batch to batch. I don't mind if the products I make for myself are a little thicker or thinner, but manufacturers need to be sure every jar is identical to the others. Finally, it's inexpensive. As we know about glycerine, inexpensive does not mean bad. On the negative side, petrolatum has a very greasy feel and is often *too* occlusive.
@@lizcademy4809 I've been a registered nurse for 30 years and involved in pharmaceutical clinical research for 20. Would you be so kind as to provide the source of the information you quote here: "It's one of the few ingredients that are FDA approved occlusives."? Thank you.
Thank you for this! Makes me happy that I switched to Timeless when you first made your recommendation. So many bottles later, it’s nice to know it’s still the best.
The alcohol might be in some of those products to facilitate absorption. Alcohol is not drying as much as people think-Michelle at labmuffin and Dr. Dray here on RUclips have videos on this topic. Have a nice weekend. :)

QUESTION 🌸 Vitamin C causes my face to flake. How do you avoid this so you can continue on with sunscreen and make up?
Thank you for doing the hard work figuring out all this stuff. I just want to know the best skincare for least money, if possible. Yay, Timeless won!

I hope you don’t mind some extra skin love.
@@PeachesSkinCare Oh that is so good to know!!! And yes, it's always good to have some extra skin love!!! Take care Lisa. And thank you!

Thank You for your lovely and kind comment. Have a blessed day 🍑🙌🏻Lisa
Love that you tested these products to prove whether they will work or not!! Excellent. Thank you!
I discovered a new brand, Geek & Gorgeous and their vitamin C appears to tick all the boxes, yay!
Thank you so much!!! Fantastic video; very helpful! I wish dermatologists on Instagram would do experiments like this before recommending products.
Love the chemistry lesson! I appreciate the educational aspect of your skincare vids. Also, I am excited about The Ordinary being effective and so affordable. I have been using Timeless for a few months now, which I am also loving for a reasonable price.
Since I try to skip silicones which we know now paricipate so much in ocean pollution, I am using the Timeless so happy to see it remains the best!,
This is fascinating!
Yes, I love Stephanie Marie as well!
If your skin is dry, I wonder if you dampen the skin and then apply the Ordinary vitamin c if that will help the crystals dissolve? Plus, products go deeper into the skin and quicker when damp.
I think it would cause irritation.... you shouldn't put actives or acids on damp skin
@@sarahhelenesarmast where did you hear that? Every dermatologist on RUclips says the opposite.
Maelove' The Glow Maker has 5% less C than Timeless and I find it to be very non irritating. It has Ferulic an E also.
Angie has covered the L'Oréal serum in a previous video!
Have you tried the inkey list? I was curious on that one. I love my timeless but I have a few issues with the bottles leaking lately
So many people have mentiined leaking bottles. Why dont they fix it already? Lol
I don't know if I've gotten lucky or what, but my Timeless bottles (bought the 4 oz big one last time) so far don't leak. I probably jinxed myself by saying that and the next one I buy will be leaking all over the place.
I use The Inkey List vitamin C and love it a lot.
Love the science behind it.....you are so real Angie!!!
It would be interesting to do this same experiment with the ordinary’s/ deciem oil basic vitamin c which I often add to moisturizer at night
Thanks Angie for the update, I’ve had good results from The Ordinary Ascorbic Acid 8% plus Arbutin and also Melano CC, I tried timeless it did nothing for me at all, just goes to show we’re all individual and you don’t need to spend ££’s for good skincare x
This was a great, informative video. Thanks for doing all of the research for us so that we can spend our money on the best products for our skin.
What about the ph of any other products applied with it? Thanks Angie
At least we know the products to trust and may be use it in other body parts dealing with hyperpigmentation! Thank you
How about Geek and Gorgeous’ “ C-glow”?, Ferulic acid, vitamin E, cheap, made to order.
I’m a chemistry nerd myself and I was geeked out over the pH test! Thanks for sharing such great info . I also use Timeless ... just mix it in with my cerave moisturizer in the morning and I’m good to go! Glad I was using a great product to begin with and at a great price too 😊
You are THE skin care guru!
Yes, the powders are good. Look for one that's 95 - 100% pure ascorbic acid.
Thank you for explaining the pH test. Happy to be using Timeless.
I'm a Timeless lover!!!! Great to confirm that it's the best!!
Me too!❤️
It sure is!
Just got my 1st bottom of Tikmeless. Glad to know I made the right choice.
I have tried many vit c formulas and had best luck with the TO 23 percent it showed the best results on my skin but I don't wear makeup daily so the granular texture doesn't bothet me
If I'm not mistaken, you apply your latic acid after you apply your vit c. Does the latic acid affect the ph of the vit c when applied that way?
The best vitamin C serum is by Obaji. I’ve tried them all on the market and nothing compares . When u put it on ur skin physically changes in front of you , almost like u got a face lift and your face looks so glowy and beautiful
You always go above and beyond for us Hot & flashy gals ! Appreciate the scientific approach! ☄️💥🔥
@@Watcher8888 I agree that Paula's Choice has some good products, like
2% BHA Liquid exfoliant which I love, also used to love her cleanser but after trying The Ordinary Squalane Cleanser switched to that because it really cleanses the large pores on my nose.
Stickin' with the Timeless! Thanks so much.
Oh my gosh… I love the scientific side of you and his experiments were amazing. I’ve been using timeless now for about four years… Just do not see a reason to change it works it’s reasonably priced goes on sale a lot, I’m all in.
The Ordinary has a bunch of newer Vitamin C products. Could you review those please???
I was thinking the same thing. They have one they say is less gritty now.
Yes please! I use The Ordinary Ascorbyl Tetraisopalmitate solution 20% in Vitamin F. Hope you approve.
@@silviamaccon2445 this is what I use, I would love to know what Angie thinks
She said in her other Vitamin C serum video that the other The Ordinary Vitamin C products are made with the ester forms of Vitamin C which she does not recommend.
Your hair, makeup and texture of your skin are all beautiful. Thank you for Vita C tutorial.
Good morning Angie, I enjoyed your video! Thank you so much!! Have a beautiful day!!! 💗
I am just going to stick with my Timeless! Thanks for the science lesson. I loved it!
I just read on the Omnilux LED mask tretinoin users should not use it! What’s is ur opinion?
Thank you.
Still not giving up my timeless. After giving up the super expensive drunk elephant... I have to say- can’t go wrong with Timeless.
You've turned me onto so many great products. I ordered the Timeless Vitamin C based on your review. Thanks for doing the research for us!
Ooooh! I appreciate this info! TFS!
Thank you for this! Makes me happy that I switched to Timeless when you first made your recommendation. So many bottles later, it’s nice to know it’s still the best.
Sticking with my Timeless. Thanks Angie!💕
I depend on you for all my skincare! Thank you Angie. I will stick with the Timeless too!
The alcohol might be in some of those products to facilitate absorption. Alcohol is not drying as much as people think-Michelle at labmuffin and Dr. Dray here on RUclips have videos on this topic. Have a nice weekend. :)
VERY knowledgeable!!!! I always learn!
Love it! Great job! Listen, don’t waste money!
You should make a lab coat looking dressing gown/robe. I would wear it am/pm while doing my getting ready/unready routines!
THAT WAS AMAZIIINGGG!! I WAS NOT EXPECTING THAT ACTUAL SCIENCE EXPERIMENT, I loved it. WOW
