I was an equipment mechanic years ago and we suddenly had a run on water in our fuel tanks on a lot of equipment. At first we thought out above ground gas tank was compromised. I replaced the seal on the fill cap and put a lock on it. Still had an issue. Then started showing up in about all the equipment other than one drivers sweeper truck. It turned out that one driver was pulling fuel out of machinery and putting it in his own truck and then replacing the fuel with water.. It was a rule to top off all equipment before going home. Yeah, we set up a camera in the window of the office and busted him on his first night back to work..

Every motorized thing I’ve seen that someone was throwing out or didn’t want because it “had issues” or “didn’t work”, just clean the carb and spark plug, drained the fuel and put new in and they all fired right up and ran great after.
New guy on the crew grabbed a gas can and put some in. Didn't know it was sitting there for a year in the back of the truck soaking up water when it rained. No one has time to mess with it so now it's a good buy for Jesse.
We love your short and long videos. Your subs should start to shoot up soon with people looking for more good content like yours and the wheeler's. It looks like Andrew is posting far less since he hit 1 million subs. Hollywooditis maybe? Thanks for sharing with us and take care!
I would of screwed in a pipe in the oil drain with elbow and then coupling then plug...that way when you drain the oil its easy... Most people dont want to take it to a small engine repair as the cost is like 65$ per hour, so they just leave it...lol...your gain.... not bad for 2 bills....
The exhaust locking nut should be against the engine, so when the metal heats up, the vibration won't loosen up and allow the muffler to start falling, shaking, vibrating down...
@@jmuller86 the pipe to pipe thread is not the issue. You don't need it where it is right now. So just take it back apart. You need to pay attention to the pipe to "aluminum threaded head. That is why it should be there. You don't want the pipe to split the head and there are two sides to that locking nut. It need to face with bite side facing in, to allow it to grab the softer metal in the head, tap it into place, you'll see it bite.
It could get that much just being left uncovered outside. Especially if it was left for a period of time because it was considered to be inoperable. The fuel cap could be the issue with the water getting in though the vent in the cap.
If it were dropped into water or was in a flood the muffler, cylinder, and crankcase would have been full to the top not just partially mixed I do however agree with someone doing it out of anger or stupidity.
Is easy to be fooled by gas smells because it has a great evaporation power, and with its use the lid and threads gets heavily it's smells. Same with hoses and plastic containers since they're coming from petroleum. But that helped the transaction. Great deal! With time you'll pick up a lighter smell to gas due to the presence of water. Also it helped all to be fooled the dark tank. Water has more density than gas & diesel, it always go down so if the tank was clearer you probably end up paying more or buying another so everything worked on your favor this time! That's why people should at least give it a try to clean up their gas in their small engines, winterization they call it, or if they're not going to use it for let's say next 15 days, get the gas out and burn/consume the last drops it has so the oils doesn't gunk the carb little holes and you end up replacing/cleaning them every year.
Seems to me, that such a sharp connection to the pizza pan, could stress both the trowel blades and the pan itself, possibly breaking through. Welding something that simple ought to be easy enough-- you could just grind off those weld beads, and re-use the clips. While you're at it, remove the unneeded "extras" so they cannot possibly get in your way. Re: Water in the oil-- the reason you want gas shut-offs, is to prevent gasoline dripping through the intake, into the cylinder, which goes past the rings into the oil (diluting it). It can happen just sitting, but especially when the tool is transported--the vibrations makes the float slosh, which leaks excess gasoline. Of course, if it's just a little gas, running tool for extended periods heats the oil, which drives off the gas vapors (which are directed into the carb). Now with mostly water in the tank? That's likely what happened-- vibration during transport, water leaks past the cylinder into the oil. As for water in the tank? Never underestimate foolishness-- someone leaving it in the rain, with the gas cap lose or off.... or worse, a disgruntled "employee" deliberately sabotaging the tool to get out of using it...
Possibly someone didn't feel like running that machine one day and put water in it when no one was looking. I was going to comment on that exaust too, but you saw the same thing I did. What about gearbox lube - can that be checked or changed? I'm glad for you that you have 2 machines now. Concrete don't wait!
Another gem of ethanol fuel. When sitting, the bonded water and ethanol slowly settles to the bottom and what actual gas is left stays on top. Probably had just a little fuel in the tank before getting rained on.
I never use ehhonol gas in my small engines, but I did have a water intrusion problerm with my lawn mower last spring. After the engine warmed up I tested the mower for about 15 minuts, then shut it down and topped off the fuel with the gas left over from last year. After lunch I started cutting grass again and the mower died. After investigation I found about a pint of water in the fuel system. Must have been in the Gas can I used from last year. LOL
