I’m watching all of the videos I’d watch as a kid and I never realized how much nostalgia this would bring me. Your channel was literally a part of my childhood, and for that I am SO thankful
@GinasDiary I think that this was the case when you had to dissolve the yeast in water or milk and let it sit until it got foamy, salt would hamper that for sure. With the instant yeast, you can use it right away and the contact with the salt is for a short time, not enough to kill it.
@TheMimochan Depends on what you are measuring, a cup of butter will have different weight than a cup of flour. A cup is 250ml of volume. We use this same cup to measure out all the ingredients.
@enjoydotcom I think that this was the case when you had to dissolve the yeast in water or milk and let it sit until it got foamy, salt would hamper that for sure. With the instant yeast, you can use it right away and the contact with the salt is for a short time, not enough to kill it.
@hobomoviessss Make sure that after the first rising that you beat the dough down and flatten it to remove any large air pockets before letting it rise again. Also sticking the pieces of dough together with a bit of water will help prevent their separation during baking
@hargie56 It is just regular white bread (with colour in it), it toasts up just like any other bread does. I had panda for breakfast for a couple of days :)
I've seen most of your videos -- they're always so informative, interesting, and the results look great and delicious! This is one of my favorites. Thank you for putting so much effort into your work.
@Yueelie If you keep it in the refrigerator probably a good week, same length of time not refrigerated but it may start to taste stale. Also freezes well
Yes double rise, make the dough, knead it and let it rise once. Punch it down (to remove air bubbles), form it into a loaf shape and put it in the loaf pan. Let it rise a second time and then bake :)
You are so right, I do pay attention to the negativity more than I should sometimes. There was an unusual number of negative comments on that video for some reason. I shut the comments off for a while, turned them back on and it started up again, I think it has something to do with the associated videos that bring viewers to it. Not sure.
The rainbow bread is a bit easier because you don't have to worry about the position of the layers, but the panda bread has fewer colours to mix in and probably takes less time to do.
@OrangeSunshynEmbrace One thing about bread dough, the more you knead it the happier it is. You can't over knead bread (different from cookie dough for sure)
I can't wait to make this for my daughter in college! She's in a sorority whose mascot is the panda, and she is going to love it! Thanks for the video!
So what do you prepare food on? Cutting boards or mats have to be cleaned too, clean your counter the same way and you will be fine. Good old soap and water and elbow grease is all that is needed.
I found that when you slice the bread, it's best to slice it down the middle. The little half-loaves look like little panda bodies with the face on the sliced side. :D I made this recipe, and when I cut the loaf, it looked like I had two little pet pandas. I was so cute! Thanks for posting the recipe.:)
You have an amazing talent my friend! Keep on baking:) I love all of your ideas! Never in a million years would I ever figure out how to do this! You're tuturials are so simple though
I freaking love you yoyomax!! If it werent for you and your cooking videos, i'd always be frantic and worried about something!! your videos are incredibly soothing.. maybe it's your voice.. I'm not sure! One thing's for sure, you are such a great cook!! You are one talented woman!
i love your videos yoyomax12(: I'm a student living overseas in melbourne and when I'm homesick i watch your videos and they make me happy(: i've never made bread before but i have to now because this video was too cool not to try out!!! Thank you so much for posting your videos - and i hope no one bothers you again! (:
i saw this quite a while ago and thought it was adorable...i just came across this again today. i think it might be a sign that i need to make this adooooooorable panda bread!
I want to make this so bad!! Its so simple! Its just like cane work with polymer clay!!! This would be so fun and I can see a multitude of possibilities!!! You just got my culinary imagination flowing!!! Thank you so much!!!
Wow I had no idea this existed!! Thank you for your step by step tutorial!!! I'm going to have to try and make this for my 4 yr old son! Thank you for another fantastic recipe- you inspire me!!!! Hugs from northern California!!! :-)
Follow the recipe except don't add food colour to the dough. Let the dough rise once in and then punch it down to remove the air bubbles, make a loaf shape, put it in the bread pan and let it rise again and then bake it.
@ThePeace4war You didn't watch the video? There is butter in the written ingredient list and in the video? Should be okay without the butter. I've added a line to the instructions including the butter
Could be that the yeast you used was too old? I don't think the self rising flour had anything to do with it not rising properly. Sometimes it takes longer for it to rise depending on the temperature in your kitchen. Hard to tell without actually seeing what you do :)
I would look for a recipe for sweet yeast bread and just use that with the food colour. I am not a recipe designer (I just find and follow recipes) and I don't know what would happen if you added more sugar to this.
Wow I had no idea this existed- thank you for your step by step tutorial. I'm going to have to make this for my 4 yr old son!!!! Thank you for another fascinating and inspiring video!!! :-) hugs from northern California!!!!
Hi Yoyomax12. Due to 2 mistakes in my first time making this, I wound up having to chuck my dark dough (cocoa powder one in my case). As a replacement, I came up with something that isn't too bad if you want to do this is a sweet/desert bread. Instead of the 4 dark logs, try lining up dark chocolate chips. It came out well and it's that much less dough to work with.
I have found your videos very helpful and often adorable. Thank you so much for giving me a many ideas! I especially love this one and can't wait to try it out for myself (I adore pandas). Great job! Keep up the spectacular work! :D Thanks!
I saw that :( Don't listen to them yoyomax12! There are so many nice, intelligent people who watch and comment on your videos- it just seems like there are a lot of horrible people cause negitivity sticks out! Love the videos- keep cooking lol!
i made something like this except it was a flower shape with my little cousin and her mom made her sandwiches with it for lunch and she LOVED it!!!! thanks for the idea!!
this is an awesome idea!! i have to try it. if you did use green tea it would make it taste like green tea, would kinda be nice. also, what i normally do to make my black, i use coco powder and then use the black food colouring. i find i use less colouring that way. also, would give your bread a green tea and choc flavor! add some vanilla to the white mix and there ya have it! lol great vid! thanks so much!
Making some right now, it's rising...at the time of dying it I only had liquid food dye and I found it difficult to dye with. So it isn't entirely dyed, but next time I think I'll use paste food coloring. And my dough sections seemed a bit smaller than yours for some reason...wonder why.
I WAS TEN WHEN I FIRST SAW THIS! I'M 17 NOW. THAT INTRO BROUGHT SO MUCH NOSTALGIA
I’m watching all of the videos I’d watch as a kid and I never realized how much nostalgia this would bring me. Your channel was literally a part of my childhood, and for that I am SO thankful
Aww, this is so cute! I can imagine this being an adorable gift or maybe a fun surprise to a picnic :)
@GinasDiary I think that this was the case when you had to dissolve the yeast in water or milk and let it sit until it got foamy, salt would hamper that for sure. With the instant yeast, you can use it right away and the contact with the salt is for a short time, not enough to kill it.
omg just found you after i dunno 5 years i used to watch you when i was around 5 or 4 but now im ten soooo
@TheMimochan Depends on what you are measuring, a cup of butter will have different weight than a cup of flour. A cup is 250ml of volume. We use this same cup to measure out all the ingredients.
This is so beautifully done! I love this! I'm going to do it and my family is going to be amazed with me.
@enjoydotcom I think that this was the case when you had to dissolve the yeast in water or milk and let it sit until it got foamy, salt would hamper that for sure. With the instant yeast, you can use it right away and the contact with the salt is for a short time, not enough to kill it.
The green part almost looks like mold. o.o
@piebird042 It is called Glad Press and Seal and I love it. It has a slightly sticky quality (like a sticky note) that holds onto any surface.
I could barely wait to slice the bread to see how the panda turned out! It is worth the wait :)
@yukiblue1 Yes, it tastes just like ordinary bread
At a local store called the "Bulk Barn" but many craft store carry it under the brand name Wilton or Americolor. They can also be purchased on-line
Also freezes well
@Doaaish The dough is bread dough made with yeast and flour. Fondant is sugar, two different things.
@MariaFM6 you can use cocoa, see the website link in the description for the amounts
@xMonsterScreamsx Yeast is what makes the bread rise and makes all the little holes in the bread, you really need it in this recipe
@YankeeDoodlePoodle Yes you could use another colour if you don't like the green.
I actually made the panda bread sometime last year because I found the recipe. It does come out GREAT! Really good for a bread recipe.
@celineeyap The outer layer will be brown because you bake it, those other pictures? Maybe not baked quite as long?
The rainbow bread is a bit easier because you don't have to worry about the position of the layers, but the panda bread has fewer colours to mix in and probably takes less time to do.
@noorie21t Yes exactly, let it rise once in a bowl, punch down dough, form into loaf shape put it in the prepared pan, let rise again, bake!
@OrangeSunshynEmbrace One thing about bread dough, the more you knead it the happier it is. You can't over knead bread (different from cookie dough for sure)
@MrGustave42 I think I mention that in the video quite clearly
Thank you for the voice of reason :) I appreciate it.
@potternerd13 some are liquid, some are gel and there are even some oil based ones designed for candy making
I can't wait to make this for my daughter in college! She's in a sorority whose mascot is the panda, and she is going to love it! Thanks for the video!
@Sisters4EverABNR I read all my comments, you know that :) Thanks for the suggestion
So what do you prepare food on? Cutting boards or mats have to be cleaned too, clean your counter the same way and you will be fine.
Good old soap and water and elbow grease is all that is needed.
I think a bread mix would be okay. I think a nose at the bottom of the loaf would be cute
@biniciesma They are macarons, will be posting that very soon
this was amazing! i made a sandwich for school with this recipe and so many people were amazed and now a lot of them bring colorful bread 2!
You can heat the milk mixture over low heat on the stove, heating the milk just makes the bread rise a bit faster.
You have an amazing talent my friend! Keep on baking:) I love all of your ideas! Never in a million years would I ever figure out how to do this! You're tuturials are so simple though
Did you brush the layers with milk or water first?
@Doaaish no, but the colour of the panda might be a bit different with whole wheat
I read all my comments :)
Thank you for this, I appreciate the kind words more than you know
Very cute!
@BeastyBruce The bread is soft and fluffy and wonderful. Your house will smell amazing when it is baking too.
@Mikaela2020 No it wouldn't be easier to do a whole loaf worth of slices and how you would apply food colour to bread without it getting soggy?
I freaking love you yoyomax!! If it werent for you and your cooking videos, i'd always be frantic and worried about something!! your videos are incredibly soothing.. maybe it's your voice.. I'm not sure! One thing's for sure, you are such a great cook!! You are one talented woman!
I used food coloring in the dough, pick whatever colour you want.
So adorable!
I used black paste food colour to get the black. I have amended the description to reflect that.
Yes you can use less sugar quite easily in this and it would be just fine
i love your videos yoyomax12(: I'm a student living overseas in melbourne and when I'm homesick i watch your videos and they make me happy(: i've never made bread before but i have to now because this video was too cool not to try out!!! Thank you so much for posting your videos - and i hope no one bothers you again! (:
WOW! My grandsons would just love this! So talented you are!
i saw this quite a while ago and thought it was adorable...i just came across this again today. i think it might be a sign that i need to make this adooooooorable panda bread!
@MsLolright Not everyone like the long intro, so I use the short one sometimes
I want to make this so bad!! Its so simple! Its just like cane work with polymer clay!!! This would be so fun and I can see a multitude of possibilities!!! You just got my culinary imagination flowing!!! Thank you so much!!!
Wow I had no idea this existed!! Thank you for your step by step tutorial!!! I'm going to have to try and make this for my 4 yr old son! Thank you for another fantastic recipe- you inspire me!!!! Hugs from northern California!!! :-)
@KyokoChan I mention the butter in the video and in the description box?
Follow the recipe except don't add food colour to the dough. Let the dough rise once in and then punch it down to remove the air bubbles, make a loaf shape, put it in the bread pan and let it rise again and then bake it.
@ThePeace4war You didn't watch the video?
There is butter in the written ingredient list and in the video? Should be okay without the butter.
I've added a line to the instructions including the butter
@SincerlyAmyyxO What do you do if you are allergic to peanut butter
@SchwererGustav16 The website I found it on used green, you can choose any colour you like
Could be that the yeast you used was too old? I don't think the self rising flour had anything to do with it not rising properly. Sometimes it takes longer for it to rise depending on the temperature in your kitchen. Hard to tell without actually seeing what you do :)
@littleabigail123 I give one in the video, oven turned off with just the oven light on
I would look for a recipe for sweet yeast bread and just use that with the food colour. I am not a recipe designer (I just find and follow recipes) and I don't know what would happen if you added more sugar to this.
@victoria2400buddy Yes you could, but this is a normal bread recipe (with egg)
The rainbow bread is a bit easier because it doesn't really matter if the layers are crooked and there isn't a colour going all around it.
You are very kind to say so :) Thank you
Not only adorable, but quite clever! Thanks so much for sharing!
Wow I had no idea this existed- thank you for your step by step tutorial. I'm going to have to make this for my 4 yr old son!!!! Thank you for another fascinating and inspiring video!!! :-) hugs from northern California!!!!
Not sure what you mean, there isn't two cups of sugar in this?
Did you use yeast?
I like Panda bread ! Very colourful and so cute!
You can you any baking dish, but the bread may spread out sideways and distort the panda shape
The panda is my FAVORITE animal ever. I just LOVE it its so cute!
@ImperiousViking Yes :)
@Hyperventilate Good answer :)
The word 'panda' in Japanese can also mean 'it's bread' so it's a really cute play on words :) Looks delicious!

I love your videos! This is my favorite channel on youtube by FAR!!!
aah! that little goose/swan/adorable bird that you used for the ingredients is so cuteeee
@TaterTots620 Yes, you have a good ear for accents :)
@TheMimochan yes
Flavoured bread?
Depends what you want I guess, you could add cinnamon or cheese? Add it in during the initial dough mixing stage
130 people just didn't make the panda bread look right its not your fault yoyomax12!!!
U rock and i love your videos!!!!!!
I saw that :( Don't listen to them yoyomax12! There are so many nice, intelligent people who watch and comment on your videos- it just seems like there are a lot of horrible people cause negitivity sticks out! Love the videos- keep cooking lol!
@pancakegerbil I have one on my cupcake playlist
i made something like this except it was a flower shape with my little cousin and her mom made her sandwiches with it for lunch and she LOVED it!!!! thanks for the idea!!

I love Pandas!! This is an amazing idea! I've never seen this before and this needs a try! Thanks for your amazing videos! :)
this is an awesome idea!! i have to try it. if you did use green tea it would make it taste like green tea, would kinda be nice. also, what i normally do to make my black, i use coco powder and then use the black food colouring. i find i use less colouring that way. also, would give your bread a green tea and choc flavor! add some vanilla to the white mix and there ya have it! lol great vid! thanks so much!
