Wow! You did an incredibly awesome job on this. I am sure this took quite a bit of time with all the added after market photo etch and decals. Outstanding Raptor!
Beautiful buildup. You always do a great job of showing and describing what you’ve done. I’ve learned a TON of helpful hints from this and your other builds. None the least of which was not to be afraid to just try something new. Invariably, regardless of how it turns out, you have pushed yourself out of your comfort zone. Thanks for that! BTW, I’m a fellow San Diegan. I hope to see some of your stuff in person at the Model Swap Meet and contest at Gillespie Field on June 9!
Just going through some plastic modeling videos for reference for some card models I want to scratchbuild and found yours of the Raptor- I moved from plastic to paper some years back. You showed a lot of interior angles I've never seen before of this subject- thanks for that! One detail difference you seem to have missed between the CGI and fullsize prop is the three greeblies on the leading edges of the wings next to the air intakes. They are there on the port wing but not the starboard wing on the fullsize prop but are on both wings on the model. Sorry if I killed the model for you by pointing this out, but I'd have had to remove them and the partial panel above, then fabricate a new panel to cover the space. DON'T DO IT TO YOUR MODEL! We'll call it a compromise between the two versions, okay?
I appreciate the comment and your attention to detail. No worries. I think overall the model is still a good facsimile of the ship regardless. It's interesting to note the differences between the CGI and full sized mock up. Thanks for watching.
It was called ridout at the time, it’s eplastics now. Bear in mind those discs were in a bin full of extra piece’s they were just trying to move. Here’s their website. If you’re in San Diego they’re located in Kearny Mesa south of Mira Mar / Kearny Villa Rd www.eplastics.com/
HI Steven, thank you for your compliment. I took some Apoxie sculpt putty and filled in the front nose section. That was enough to provide the necessary weight. You'll be able to get an idea of what it looked like at 18 sec into the video. I stuffed it into both sides of the nose. Without the weight, the back will be too heavy and it won't sit right. Thx for watching.
you do a great job of telling us how you do what you do! Great models to!
Thank you Lester
Great job on the left arm. Ship looks great as well.
Thanks so much

Thank you for your kind comments. I really appreciate that. Great to hear from another fellow San Diegan too. I will try and make it in June. :)
Well done video as always, full of helpful, detailed info! A "must see" guide for an accurate Raptor build...thanks Oggie!
Aweome, thank you
Great build sir! Very inspirational.
Nice work! This is in my stash and now I wanna start it after seeing your build.
Great work. You probably could of used small weights they use in model railroads to add weight to rail cars.
thank you for the compliment and for the tip.
Looks brilliant!
thank you
Look great Oggie!
The details that you referred too on the nose were MANEUVERING THRUSTERS.

What is the name of the store you bought the plastic disk used for the display?

So say we all!!! Amazing
I appreciate your compliment thanks
I’m ordering one ebay
How much weight did you add to the nose and where did you put it? Moebius says it’s necessary to do so. Beautiful job

in 14.10 you say " this is a 148 scale model....." its 1/32...??? guessing by the pics I ve seen on amazon .....
yes you're correct, thanks for pointing that out. It definitely is 1/32. :)
Did you use Mediterranean Sea salt or Dead Sea pink salt? :)
TheAxelson salt from the Sea of Morton actually. :)
Just a comment for the algorithm
