  • About 400 km south-east from Ukrainian capital Kyiv lie the neglected remains of one of the Soviet Union’s largest uranium production facilities which provided about half of all the uranium for Soviet nuclear bombs. The production stopped after the Soviet Union collapse in 1991 and the plant was totally abandoned for 10 years what led to the spread of highly radioactive materials outside the facilities.
