Frankly, how dead Chad sounds, he reminds me of a lot of the men in Mormon leadership - you don't see a lot of life there, and certainly not love in their approach to people who don't fit into their narrow views. But Chad is as creepy as they get.

Your vulnerability touches me. I was separated from my mother at 7 years old. I’ve yearned for her my entire life. I’m 48 years old now and after much professional therapy and self work, my heart is mended. However, there are days that i long for her and wish that she would have been a healthier and whole person for herself and for me. She’ll never be that person. I’ve come to believe that my longing for my mother and my acceptance of what will never be can both be real and true. It has brought me deep comfort.
Our stories are different, but I see many resemblances. I know that you hurt and your sorrow is deep. I am sorry for this, because I realize the sadness that comes with it. I also see a resilient and long suffering soul, and although that comes with wounds, one day those wounds will heal and they will be scars. we are strangers, but I am proud of you. Continue doing the work, showing up for yourself and your family. The love that your siblings have for you is still real. I have no doubt you are making them proud also. Much love!

I remember HOPING the kids were just hidden out in some Waco-esque compound, but feeling in my heart that they were no longer here. When everything unfolded, I was speechless. I have closely followed both trials so far and have to say that you have publicly handled yourself better than I think anyone could imagine. I can imagine, in private, it's a lot harder to keep yourself composed. I pray for you continued strength and healing as this next chapter unfolds. RIP Tylee and JJ and justice for Charles and Brandon. I sincerely hope your mom doesn't try dragging you in to the circus that will be this next trial.

I related so hard when you said "I forgot this voicemail even happened". In 2022, after I lost my mom, I turned to my husband and said: "Wow, isn't it weird how trauma always comes in three's for me? Like you getting diagnosed with cancer in 2020, mom dying and...." but I couldn't finish my sentence, because I was just blanking. So my husband said: "...and then your dad got diagnose with cancer 3 weeks after your mom. Did you really forget about that?"
I think that when the trauma hits you so hard you just forget the smaller traumas. It's a pretty weird feeling. But it's so real. I guess, in my mind, because my dad's cancer was treatable and he survived while I watched my mom slowly fade away, it was like it was nothing to my brain. I guess I was just at capacity 😅

  • @Deborah-onyx

You are so brave to speak about this experience because I think it helps so many people. As a hospice social worker I often deal with adult children who never actually see their parents as fallible. Sometimes its too late. I think the only way to break the trauma is facing it head on and accepting that you have surpassed your parents in emotional and spiritual maturity. Everyone has their own search to find the truth because everything i have gone through makes me question the reality of any organization of religion. For me, I had to move away from organized religion because I researched the Bible and its manipulation by men over thousand of years for their own purposes. I will never judge you for your decision to turn towards scripture to find strength but after my own research, I saw the inconsistency and innate misogyny and strive for power. The true teaching of Christ is love , charity and the strength to do what is right for you and your fellow neighbors. I believe we all have a purpose to fulfill on this earth set by a creator and your teaching and kind nature shows you as someone blessed with integrity and intellect. Stay strong . All my love.

Thank you! Organized religion was created and written by men who wanted control. Here is a beautiful soul, Colby - honest, loving, authentic as the day is long. His wisdom blows me away. And organized religion wants us to forfeit that in ourselves and follow what they teach instead. Young Colby is an amazing example of how to hold to what you know to be true, not what a crowd of manipulators is out to impose on you. Bless his heart.

I started watching the true crime shows before knowing anything about how it all ended. It’s a trip that the trials hadn’t happened yet, so it was like watching it in real time.
Hearing about Tylee and JJ being missing and then finding their remains was so disturbing, it broke me. How a mother can do or even let someone else do what was done to those beautiful souls is beyond comprehension.
You are so strong to be able to put yourself out there and talking about it all is very inspiring.
The autism talk was so crazy, my daughter is on the spectrum, it was tagged as Asperger’s syndrome before they created the larger umbrella of ASD, since there are so many different types plus different levels. My daughter is high-functioning, but as she has grown it has morphed.

Hi Colby, I’ve been following this story for the last two and a half years because of my son attending school in Idaho. I can’t imagine the pain and suffering and utter sorrow you’re going through. Thank you so much for sharing your authentic self and setting straight the
media misinformation. I’m glad to have found your channel and walk through this journey with you. I unfortunately have not seen the documentary because I was afraid to. I may go back and watch it now that I’ve heard your real story and see what you went through. Although watching your reactions and hearing your depictions of the situation is very helpful to know how television (media) can detract from the emotion, the reality and make it fit their narrative which may not be exactly what you experienced. Thank you for sharing and for the clarification. You are brave, strong and loved. I love you and watching your videos.

For Chad to call as if he was a friend. This call was after Lori had been arrested talking about personal things that he had no right to know. Before Tylee and JJ had been found at his property. The audacity is unmatched.

For real. Chad had this gross formula of watching someone and trying to hone in on what he’d think they’d want to hear? It might have worked on vacant women. He was surrounded by yes men. His wife really was wonderful and had him thinking he’s a much better human than he was.

Grief has many stages. Someone once told me it was like having a sharp rock in your pocket. Some day’s that rock pierces your skin with that horrible pain. Believe me I know. The good thing is we all have each other to get us through grief and pain.

I’m very glad you had 8th grade through high school as normal. I truly mean it. I had grades 10 and 11 in my life, but my life was nothing like yours. I had a different kind of hard. Yet I know how meaningful those years are and how God knew to give us a grace period.
    Love, your north Texas momma❤

Man Colby I give you credit because the way your mom was talking to you in those few conversations I think as her child I would’ve fallen for what she was saying. You have a strong resolve and with the strength of your family you will get through life and are already showing your strength in being an awesome husband and father. Much blessings to you and your family.

I can’t imagine what you’ve been through and that you’re out here working through unimaginable pain while trying to help all of us deal with the feelings that a person truly exists out there that can do the unimaginable. Did the unimaginable to you and your siblings, her blood, the people you’re supposed to protect with your very life. You have amazing grace in life and the world is truly blessed with you in it. Thank you so much for just being you, sharing your life story and feelings with us.

I just wanted to tell you how proud I am of you for rising above all of this processing this in such an honest and open manner and sharing your truth. I can see it definitely made you the amazing man and father you are today. So proud of you Colby. I know it can’t be easy and even speaking with your mother. It’s must be so emotionally conflicting. I wanted to say I saw how manipulative your mother was in that former conversation trying to constantly act like you were her favorite and she had this unbreakable bond but she was in her manipulation to the soft side of your heart and I find that cruel to a young man. I want you to know I adopt you Colby as a mom and if you ever need to talk I’m here for you
