If you didn't get all the information, those mistakes fall onto whoever gave you the puzzle. That being said, it's still an impressive puzzle for the developer's first time, and I too hope to see more. Something I've learned with making puzzles with Lego's is it's a big learning process and skill to make good puzzles. Personally, I blame the puzzle maker (no offense or anything but they can use this as a learning scenario). You should never have a hole in similar size to a tool that you use if you do not want people to put the tool in that hole. A note saying "don't put a pin in the holes on the bottom" is not enough, especially when there's no markings for what the top and bottom of the puzzle are. You could say that the lock side is the top cause it can't be placed nicely if it's the bottom but it could be the side and there is an arrow so maybe that's pointing to the top (which would make the bottom not the bottom)? Instructions are not clear if there can be multiple ways to interpret them. The solution here is to just not have that hole there or make it bigger so the tools can come back out or block it in some way (assuming it's there to let air in so things don't stuck), solder/weld a little tiny rod across the hole to act like a screen. Never assume people wont do what they shouldn't, just don't let people do things they shouldn't. Puzzle solvers are going to try anything they can solve a puzzle, especially in a moments of frustration or confusion. It's very possible that even if he had received and read that, it is forgotten about for a second and that's enough to ruin the entire puzzle, potentially forever. That's not good especially for something that's probably fairly expensive given it's a machined block of metal. Additionally, "no outside tools" includes googling. Why would anyone know the combo is supposed to be the year a movie (which this puzzle is not titled after) came out. The proper way to do that would be to write a story like "The movie Free Willie, which was released in 1993, is about a whale...." in the instructions. ALL of the information needed to solve a puzzle should, in some way, come with the puzzle. Just saying. It was a cool puzzle though and aside from that hole it was very well crafted!

I don't think its very good design to make a pretty random piece of information a part of solving the puzzle. Also a very rookie puzzle design mistake to have such an easy way of getting the puzzle permanently stuck like that hole.
If you haven't sent the puzzle back yet, you could retrieve the brass rod by using a bent paper clip (to expose an end), dab the tip in some super glue (so it's ONLY on the tip, not the sides), hold it to the brass rod till it dries. Hey dude. Been watching your channel for a while now. Love your work. Wonder if you have a recommendation for someone like me who wants to start doing puzzles. Maybe some beginner puzzles to get me going. Keep doing what youre doin 🤘
The whole start of the solve i was screaming twist the lock to unscrew. Then i thought just figure out the combo the hard way. Finally you did. After i figured you needed to pull the lock apart. 1993 whale was a coin that also referenced the Bermuda. that came from me thinking of the arrow. plus it showed up or down in my mind, atleast a way the pin should be moved. ill leave it at that so you have to wath the video to see what takes place, but I love the puzzle solves. Please have more epics to come.
This was actually enjoyable to watch since there's no beating and spinning the puzzle for 25 minutes. 👌 This should be required for every vid. No besting. No spinning unless it says you need to beat or spin the puzzle.
“This is McNally, LPL’s demonic counterpart- Did you know you can unlock this puzzle with a master lock? “ **Violently but intentionally beats the two items together and both open**
I think you did it to yourself. You forced the pin in and started shaking it. You got frustrated and in turn did what you were told not to do. All on you. :)
nice job with what you were given. it was a fun solve with the manets not so much with the small brass tool getting stuck in the hole. will other iterations have the red herring hole or will it be solid?(what was purpose of the hole?
Guess he did technically bypass it a bit but the movie Free Willy came out in 1993 and that was the code 😂😮 guessing the name of the puzzle was a hint.
I didn't think the lock combination was fair either. The hint leading to the answer for that was extremely vague. Also, a puzzle like this shouldn't have this many rules for things that will potentially break the puzzle when you should be allowed to experiment and try things out. If there's a hole in the bottom that could end up having a piece stuck in it that should have been addressed with something covering the hole or maybe the pin could have been made to be a different shape so it couldn't fit inside.
@@DocBree13 I'll argue that they can. There's no rule saying you're not allowed to bruteforce the lock it just takes time, and the method used in the video for breaking the code without the hint is also not impossible to figure out.
CHRIS!!! Have you heard of, seen, done any of Kagen Sound's wood puzzle boxes!? Just saw a little documentary on him and his puzzles. They're are cool! No screws or anything, just wood and glue, but very intricate on some
To get that little rod out, I would try a strong vacuum cleaner with something like a rubber hose in or over the suction thing to make it air tight. U can also clean phone speakers and little USB ports and so on very safe good with this method btw. (But be careful) A very strong glue can also work, but of course u would need to get rid of the glue afterwards with something like pure alcohol or so.

naaaah because if you can include a printed set of hints, you could also easily have printed the email with those crucial instructions. Shouldn't have been shipped without a physical copy.
That was still a fun puzzle to watch even tho things didn't go according to plan! At least you didn't cut it in half with a saw! Hahaha! Thank you for the videos!! I miss the "hot dang" days and the french music at the end. Not everyone watches your videos to go to sleep... just saying. 😅
would be interesting to see based on your previous puzzle solving solutions what are the key concepts principles for solving puzzles, how should you approach, what are the dos and donts.
You'd be better asking Mr Puzzle. Chris just tries random sh@t until something works. There is a bit of logic, but I'm amazed he hasn't got more methodical over the years he's been doing this. Chris clearly didn't solve this properly, because he never found the Allen key. I'm sure there's more to this puzzle, but by removing the screw with his fingers, he cut a corner.
I'm not sure about 1993, aside from the fact that there was a printing of Moby Dick that year. Ishmael, the main character, takes his name from the Biblical Ishmael who was cast away from his father Abraham. In the book, Ishmael is "cast away" as the only survivor after Moby Dick attacks the ship, killing his Abrahamic father figure, Captain Ahab. Moby Dick was Ahab's (the figurative Abraham) whale. Ishmael floats to rescue on a coffin- I don't know if that is at all relevant but the enclosed box of the puzzle made me think of that.
I wonder if the original instructions included a mention for the lock solution, too. That's rough. It would have been an amazing solve if you had all the info!

Enjoyed the whole concept of this puzzle...and your efforts to solve it. It's a shame you didn't have all the information before your attempt.
It was one of the most interesting and nicely flowing puzzles I've ever seen on this channel to be honest! From the very first moments I wished to be able to try it out myself!
"Release the whale. Release the whale....the whale is imprisoned and you must Release it" hahah made me chuckle
1993 is when FREE WILLY came out
Hey dude. Been watching your channel for a while now. Love your work. Wonder if you have a recommendation for someone like me who wants to start doing puzzles. Maybe some beginner puzzles to get me going. Keep doing what youre doin 🤘
Hanayama puzzles are a great place to start.
Where is the Allen key???
Bottom plate is to ge removed and has more tools
New sub, like. first time here. I LOVE these. Nice clean simple vid idea. Relaxing to me. thx.
This should be required for every vid. No besting. No spinning unless it says you need to beat or spin the puzzle.
Use an air-gun or “dust-off” to blast it out. Air will push the trapped object out.
Thank you so much, your content is always on point, and thoroughly enjoyable!
14:13 "We got a lotta little holes"
A typical Hunter Biden day.
“This is McNally, LPL’s demonic counterpart- Did you know you can unlock this puzzle with a master lock? “
**Violently but intentionally beats the two items together and both open**
Disappointed there wasn't a 'blowhole' part like the old donut puzzle. Would have made more sense on this one
Oh wow that would have been good
On what part ?
Try the number's on the lock!!!! And different number combos in relation to the numbers on the silver box.
I doubt the creator meant to lock to be bypassed but it’s easily done, I own that lock and you don’t need any tools to do it.
Guess he did technically bypass it a bit but the movie Free Willy came out in 1993 and that was the code 😂😮 guessing the name of the puzzle was a hint.
@bryannichelson2 A very vague one
A magnifying camera not having a light built in seems like a massive oversight lol
And people from other countries that may not know about the movie should be able to solve it
@@DocBree13 I'll argue that they can. There's no rule saying you're not allowed to bruteforce the lock it just takes time, and the method used in the video for breaking the code without the hint is also not impossible to figure out.
@@DocBree13 Also the movie is about an Orca not a Whale
@@draconk orcas are toothed whales.
Want to know their other name? Killer WHALE.
CHRIS!!! Have you heard of, seen, done any of Kagen Sound's wood puzzle boxes!? Just saw a little documentary on him and his puzzles. They're are cool! No screws or anything, just wood and glue, but very intricate on some
someone needs to make CHris a Minecraft puzzle to try and beat.
33:21 these puzzles are great.
But where how do we get them?
1993 as the first step was kinda BS....you needed outside knowledge or "external tools" to get that. Kudos for the brute force working out.
To get that little rod out, I would try a strong vacuum cleaner with something like a rubber hose in or over the suction thing to make it air tight.
U can also clean phone speakers and little USB ports and so on very safe good with this method btw. (But be careful)
A very strong glue can also work, but of course u would need to get rid of the glue afterwards with something like pure alcohol or so.
These puzzles are so cool, the time and effort that goes into making them are insane. But $650 for a puzzle you will solve once is insane!
Fun video.
I'd like to see you take apart a 1911 hand gun. Unless you already have.
They are like a puzzle box. Many steps where position is key. Even including booby trap springs with an unloaded gun.
Agreed!!
so I actually sold that puzzle on puzzle paradise to chris ramsay and I told them I needed an email to forward the designers instructions that were sent to me via email so they were told and never provided me an email to send it to. thank you.
Would seem they created the drama for video if ur telling the truth why else
Ok
naaaah because if you can include a printed set of hints, you could also easily have printed the email with those crucial instructions.
1993 I think because free Willy the movie was released that year.
The same year as movie titled Abraham ;)
would be interesting to see based on your previous puzzle solving solutions what are the key concepts principles for solving puzzles, how should you approach, what are the dos and donts.
Free Willy was released in 1993
Free willy came OUT in 1993.
Is the camera an external tool ?
Haha, thats what I thought!
Fun fact: your camera thingy is called a microscope.
I wonder if the original instructions included a mention for the lock solution, too. That's rough. It would have been an amazing solve if you had all the info!
have not seen the entire vid yet but 1993 is the year Free Willy was released. Not sure if coincidence or actually intended.
Came here to say this, too! Also haven’t finished the video yet.
