Like you said Marko has a strong voice, and I think in this one it sounds even stronger because for once the vocals are high on the mix. Many times the instruments are high on the mix drowning the vocals to a certain degree. Also Marko doubles some parts of his vocals. I agree, this is a fun song, even though inspired by a horror classic. (Brings to mind the video of Mary Jane's Last Dance by Tom Petty, where he is dancing with a dead woman, played Kim Basinger.) I have seen several fan videos of this song performed in different festivals in Finland this summer. I was looking forward to hear the studio version, and I'm not disappointed, just the opposite. I like the old school heavy wibe, but not too retro. The song was released on Marko's channel, without the video, some hours before Nuclear Blast Records released this video on it's channel.
Marko's clean vocals have always blown me away and the fact that he is using them more and more now is a plus in my book. The distortion he adds now and then only serve to emphasize the very distinctive timbre of his voice. Somehow, you can always tell it is Marko singing even when you don't have a clue going in that it's going to feature him. I have a feeling he had a lot of fun with this. And, I think he plays the mad scientist to perfection.
He's always had one of the unique voices in music. I love the old school vibe of this, having grown up in the 70s and 80s. It's got a Dio feel to the vocals and an Alice Cooper feel to the songwriting. And I get it, it's about his wife putting up with his monster. It's a weird way to say I love you, but it works. The name nor the release date has not been revealed. The album was suppose to come out this Autum, but it got postboned to early next year because Marko is taking/took part in a Finnish TV-show Vain Elämää (the Finnish version of Sing Meinen Song). This song and Left on Mars feat Tarja have already been released as singles from the new album.
His new album was first announced to come later this year, but because of the TV-stuff he is doing (already filmed, but is shown this fall), the album was delayed to early 2025. This is the most recent information he has given in the interviews.
