Little house pins are my favorite; you know how I like to pin. You should too 😂 The glass head colors are new, or different than what you’d usually get when you buy them.
If you use a water erasable marker to put a dot or line in the sewing allowance on the straight grain sides it makes it easy peasy to keep track of and line up your bias and straight grain sides as listed in the pattern.
Love little house pins! They are the only ones I use now. The 90/14 sewing machine needles are great when you are doing paper piecing. Makes the paper tear easier. Love the fabric too! Great box. I enjoy your unboxing you are always so positive and excited.
I think I would starch the jolly bar sewn strips before cutting into the diamond shapes. I would also starch the background fabric before cutting. That should help with the bias edges and prevent a lot of stretching.
loving this box...Kimberly uses the size 90 needles she mentioned on a livestream that they are good for paper piecing and are her preferred needles. I have been wanting to try the pins since that is what she uses. This will go in my "to do" list of projects. I get turned around so easy so hopefully I can manage this pattern as well. Thanks for the unboxing love your enthusiasm and your song pop ups during the video ☺
Ooh I love Krista Moser, I have watched her for ages. If you watch her channel, she will show you how ruler works. Can't wait until next month when it gets here. So far away. The chrome needles sound interesting. Hugs, Chel 🌸
Hey Andrea! I hope you do a quilt along for the Peach Preserves quilt! I like to have you do it with me! LOL. I think I would like to add some borders to make it a little larger.
I haven't received mine yet or even a shipping notice. Ughh! I love this box! Krista Moser maoes hard looking patterns, BUT they are usually very easy to construct!
For piecing I would not recommend a 90/14 needle. They do work well for quilting through top, batting, backing combined and also work great for paper-piecing. Little House pins are my favorite. Love your unboxings! Sew Sampler box are the best “bang-for-your-buck” box out there!
I just mine today. Do a sew with me and I will sew mine with you. I am with you on the background fabric don’t like the pink. I will use a cream for the background. So thank you for suggesting the white.
I bought this ruler to make the Krista's Bumblebee Blossoms quilt. I watched the video and will have to watch her video step by step when I decide to let my ADHD brain tackle this quilt I will be watching your sewalong before I start Peach Preserves as well
I am thinking, for me the pattern is too busy too so, what about making it bigger separating the blocks with a blanck block in the middle. Less busy and way bigger pattern.
I wasnt a fan of this months box. I skipped it. Hopefully next months will be a great one. Great video unboxing. You always have the newest video unboxings. ❤
Am I the only one here that uses 90/14 for actual quilting? Lol! It's the only size I've ever used. Nice tip in the comments about using them for paper piecing too. I'm going to do the Dragonfruit qal that fqs is doing, so that tip might come in handy. 😊
I'm guessing the pattern uses strip units to then cut the diamonds, if you change to white ground, and use that honey bun, make sure you sort your strips into colour groups to sew together, and place the white based ones away from the edges (not sure how many strips need to sew together) as you want to change to a white ground, you want to make sure you don't have white ground prints against the white ground, you would loose the effect of the diamond, should be ok to do, it doesn't look like too many prints had white ground, or take the white ground prints out and replace with something similar in same colours from your stash not with a white ground, cut 1 1/2" strips to replace them :) Good luck, have a try, you can always cut a sample block in "ugly fabric" to test if you like sewing it, and then not waste your good fabric, I always recommend for a new block type (especially with a special ruler) that you make a test, safer that way, everything new is hard at first.
This pattern is not hard at all Andrea. Krista Moser has a lot of videos that will show you how to use the ruler and she explains how to sew the bias. She makes her patterns that have no Y seams which is wonderful. I’ve made a few of her patterns and each one turned out great. Give it a try, I think you will love it.😊

Krista's patterns are really great - they're easy to follow and she has videos on how to use her rulers. You can totally do it!!

Hey Beautiful!! Enjoyed seeing what was in the sew sampler box for June. Thanks for sharing!!
I think I would starch the jolly bar sewn strips before cutting into the diamond shapes. I would also starch the background fabric before cutting. That should help with the bias edges and prevent a lot of stretching.
I mean honey bun sewn strips.
I use those needles for piecing. They are great.
Great box!! Love the fabric and pattern!
Great box and well worth the cost! Everything is useful!
Pretty fabric I haven’t seen your kitty lately. I always watch for him😋
He’s around! Kids are home for summer so he has lots to hang with besides boring ol me 😂

It would be nice to see box as you describe, instead of your head.
I’m sure you can find someone who unboxes like that. I don’t. Sorry.
It’s not too hard for you. Please do a sew with me. 🙃
