I recently bought a couple figures from NECA. They have incredibly detailed figures of Robert Shaw and Richard Dreyfuss. Unfortunately they don't have the license to produce Roy Scheider. They are in 1/9th scale. I thought it would be awesome to build an ORCA in that scale. It is a hell of a task and will likely take a couple years to build. The hard part is finding exact dimensions of the original boat. Google states it's 42ft, others say it's 38ft. is that overall length or at the waterline? I inserted a screengrab from the movie into AutoCAD that shows Richard on the fly bridge. He is 5'-5" tall and based on that scale I measured approx. 42ft from stern to tip of bow excluding the pulpit extension. I think the breadth is approx.13ft. There is a guy who built an amazing scale model of it as best he could off of photos and movie screen grabs. He even modeled the forward cabin beyond the door that isn't shown in the movie. I am studying how these hulls where built and I am working to develop a lines plan. I built small boats before but nothing this intricate. I worked as a designer for many ship building companies over the years. I want to build a full CAD model of the hull so I can cut some jigs to make the ribs and develop the keel. I want to make this radio control to eventually show off at a wood boat festival in Mandeville, Louisiana.
Sorry I’m just now replying. I just saw your comment. The Orca was 40ft with an 8ft pulpit (measuring from the tip of the bow). Her beam was a hair over 12.5ft. @@OrcaRebuild will do thanks. My boat build project is on hold at the moment while I'm working on some vehicle projects. As soon as those are complete I'm back on the Orca.
Yes, several, just no time to edit videos. I work a fulltime job, the boat a fulltime job within itself, and youtube is a fulltime job. Just one video in a combination of at minimum 6 hours of footage, a max of 8 hours, and then editing everything down into a 20-45 minute video, is a FULLTIME job as well. I'm only one person, and don't have anyone to edit videos for me. I'm working towards getting both Season 2 & 3 released
@@Funiclown123 no I have not abandoned the project. I no longer have time to edit together videos on a weekly basis like I used to. However, I do hope to have a few videos up soon for everyone to watch the project is coming along swimmingly well.
How is the rebuild going? Hoping for updates and more videos soon.

@@OrcaRebuildhey I was just wondering if you would like someone to edit your videos? I'd be willing to help this project in any way.
@@OrcaRebuild it's been 11 months, is the project abandoned?

@@OrcaRebuild awesome to know lol, so glad this project isn't abandoned. Usually people abandon orca projects, glad this one is still up
You didn't say how short you wanted it
Just watched the jaws movie for the first time. All I’m saying is please don’t smash the radio.
I’ve got two 😉 just to recreate that scene 😉😉
Welp I tried.
