The Tau just don't have the numbers to wage wars of attrition, but they still manage to hold their own. The longer the Imperium decides not to deal with them, the worst it will become. Crazy fact, the missles in their smart missle systems are each individually AI controlled drones that lock on to move around cover and walls with extreme efficiency. Love the channel guys! @@GMineo You are correct. Tau AI is definitely heretical. Some of their more advanced AI are merely copies of some of their greatest heroes. Not truly sentient, but close enough. Only when machine becomes completely self aware can the ruinous powers attempt to corrupt their programming. Hopefully that never happens for the Tau or they will easily find themselves in the same apocalyptic scenario humanity faced 10,000 years ago with the Men of Iron! And if you haven't looked into that time I highly recommend you do.
The Tau Ethereals have recently become obsessed with how the Imperial Cult and the Emperor work. The Ethereals are threatened by the Emporers ability to be juiced up by the faith and prayers of the wider Imperium. These days he can also bless Imperial citizens or soldiers with super powers and make them "Imperial Saints". The Ethereals are super jealous that humans can "validate" their faith with real world impact.
Oh that is kind of cool. Isn't the real world impact all based on their belief though? So if they had enough religious belief they might be able to have real world impact?
@@GMineo The Tau aren't able to do things like miracles or the establishing of Warp fueled "saints". Only Chaos and the Imperium can do miraculous things with the Warp that is a direct result of religious practice.
@@GMineo the souls of the tau race are too small even for daemons to notice or care about them and a psyker can't make a tau's head to explode that easy either but the humans from the Tau Empire believet to the Greather Good to be a god and they created on without to know and that god saved the tau in their first warp travel but for the humans was too late.
tbf, in the time between the first contact and the emerging of the tau there was a warpstorm that shielded the system from outside influence. and as we know the warp can mess with many things.. including time. so it stands to reson that the expotenial mastery of technology might be slower from the tau prospective than those outside of the storm.
Ah, the tau. The "hate me all you want, you'll still die 200 miles from my gunline" faction. They dont fit, and i love it, they are new and experience the batshit insanity of the galaxy in a way that makes it fresh and actually interesting. Also the fact that they dont need stoopid magik to beat your ass to the other side of the galaxy is quite impressive, all tech baby.
So I play FSE. I have a lot of fun with them. But! I have a homebrew headcannon on how to make the tau a bit more grimdark, and keeping it in a semi historical and cultural context. Let me explain: So it's obvious, got the tau are heavily inspired by Japanese anime and turns of their mechs. Their armor is vaguely Samurai-esque as it looks like futuristic banded armor with a single large pauldron, and they have this kind of code of honor Bushido kind of thing going on. If you want to make the town more interesting, lean harder and the Samurai aesthetic. Make the Ethereals Daimyo or Shogun, make your commanders actual Shogun, and all the different septs can be different warring kingdoms within the "Tau Empire". And then the farsight enclaves, could just be Ronin. Samurai without a Shogun (ethereal)
A thing is to imperium is always have a rebelion somewhere but without this regim humanity didn't survive and many youtubers analized that and all said the same to Imperium of Man is cruel but is because he need to or will by attacked from all sides human planets fighting on their own without help.

The ethereals remind me of the Protoss from Starcraft.
We actually haven't looked into starcraft before! It seems like there is a lot of lore there as well
