Shark Fishing On Demand: The Best Way To Catch Sharks Fast!

  • It’s hammerhead shark fishing time!!!
    When we set out to film some shark fishing tips with Capt. Mark Johnson, we had no idea how many sharks would come right up to the boat.
    And we certainly never imagined that a big 8-foot hammerhead shark would cruise up to the boat (and circle us until finally eating the bait).
    Let me tell you, catching a big hammerhead on light tackle is a blast (as you’ll see in the video).
    Sharks are pure muscle and are so fun to catch! It had been so long since we had targeted sharks that we forgot how much fun shark fishing is.
    In this video, we'll show you the following as it pertains to catching sharks:
    How to bring sharks to your boat fast
    The best type of cut bait to attract sharks
    How to catch big sharks on light tackle
    How to create a perfect chum slick (to attract sharks)
    When it’s a good idea to chase the shark (vs staying put)
    And as you will see, you don’t need massive shark tackle (big shark rods and shark reels) to catch decent size sharks.
    You also don’t need to be in a special shark fishing spot. We literally picked a random spot off of Islamorada (that none of us had ever fished) and started chumming.
    Within minutes, sharks were present.
    Pretty awesome, huh!
    This way of catching sharks is such a blast and will have you want to go out and try it immediately.
    Have any questions about this type of shark fishing?
    What’s your favorite type of shark to catch?
    Let me know in the comments below!

    For me the best part of this video has to be watching that
    Hammerhead swimming around checking everything out before going for the bait. Thanks for the awesome video.

    Though I can't do site fishing in my neck of the woods (Washington). We have spiny Dogfish, 6 and 7 gill sharks...which are bottom feeders.

    If you catch the animal don’t be scared of it, know how to deal with it. Use barbless hooks and grab the head, get the hook out. They’re calm once you grab the T. Don’t leave a hook in the fish if you can help it.

    Ok this might be a stupid question but we know by now Scooby asks those questions. When you say don't raise the rod above parallel what do you consider parallel?

    • @saintaubyn1871
      @saintaubyn1871 3 года назад

      I suppose he means that the rod should be in a horizontal position above the shark.

    I live in Ky and trailer a boat down to Destin a few times a year to shark fish. I do all of my fishing from dusk on or pre sunrise/just after sunrise. I’ve never targeted them during the day or drift fished like this. A couple of questions…. Are you doing this type of fishing all day long or early/late hours. How are you picking your drift spot? Are you around structure? Thanks!

    • @steenosrs8077

      Nah, it rusts out

    • @Dman9fp
      @Dman9fp 2 года назад

      Stainless steel hooks are much more rust resistant than people think. But there's alternatives on the market like bronze & whatever Owner brand hooks are (old ones can get pretty rusty in the tackle box, shows it works) Also for Florida the FWC you requires you take the online shark fishing course for catching big sizable sharks, although for charters I'm not sure if this applies

    • @tommyfinle788

      In particular in Florida there is much growing concern of shark overpopulation, with good reason. Anywhere where there is saltwater there is plentiful sharks.

    • @rainnants

      Tell that to bottom trawlers that kill millions and let them rot on the bottom. stop attacking recreational anglers who release fish they catch safely.

  • @MrDuckboss
    @MrDuckboss 2 года назад

    Probably wouldn’t have wasted too much time to kill the fucking fish before filleting it. This is what gives fishermen a bad name

  • @mailg8516
    @mailg8516 4 года назад +3

    I just don't get it. I can't understand what is enjoyable about fishing for sharks. I consider catching a shark just a nuisance. Also consider the shark with your hook in its jaw and leader line dragging behind. Luke you disappointed me with this video.

    • @Saltstrong
      @Saltstrong  4 года назад +1

      Sorry to hear this. We understand that shark fishing isn't for everyone.

    • @muskietime
      @muskietime 4 года назад +4

      mail g Interesting that you consider a shark “just a nuisance” and you judge others by what you think. There is a psychological term for that.
      You do know that the hook and leader will come free relatively quickly and will disintegrate right?
      Lastly, Fisherman are the real Stewards of the Seas.

      Just to give you an idea
      I’m a Florida born and raised use to eat alot of seafood
      but developed an allergy towards fish
      But it’s still a big hobby of mine
      So I started to switch up my style of fishing to bigger game fish to compensate since I can’t eat them
      Also those hooks rust out in 3-6 months and 2-3ft line or less is left behind
      Also being spoiled by living in Florida there’s plenty of people who would like to say they caught a shark in their life at least once
