I really like your maternity set up, its simple yet looks to be very effective. I just finished mine this morning in a bit of a hurry, had a cow have twins and they were a bit slow to go so I wanted to get them in to help them nurse before I had to leave for work. You always do a good job with your videos, props to you. Have a great day.
Love this video, how do your heifers do when they lie down in the chute during birth. We need to set something up like this. We just put a halter on the heifers when we need to assist with chains , and tie the rope low to a post. Any problems when they go down in your chute? Just didnt know if being in a chute could cause any breathing issues etc. Thanks so much.
Thanks for showing all of us this, I really like what you have done! I have been wanting to build something for myself and this helped a lot simple and kinda portable. I don’t have a lot of cows so I couldn’t see spending the money for a true store bought calving pen. Thanks!
Depends on the cow. Sometimes I stand on the gate and check her. Once the chains are on the calf I am right behind her using the puller on all of them. Thanks.

How long are your side gates or rather how much room is needed to get the puller in behind the cow, I guess total length?
Dustin, the gates are 10’ long. The total length is almost 12’, about as short as you want to go probably. Thanks.
Nice setup for calving. Work smarter, not harder!!! Make the birthing process easy on Mom, the calf & the farmer/rancher.
Awesome build, love seeing this kind of stuff. Say when you're pulling a calf, do you get in behind her ?? Or just reach through the gate??

Sounds like, if you quit farming, you can always fall back on being a Plumber or a Welder....LOL Great job. Sometimes, more is better.....Bulldog
