The only rapper retirement that lasted an extended period of time was Jay-Z and it only lasted a few years.

I think Drake could probably do with a sort of soft retirement, rather than fully exiting from music. It feels like over the last few years his primary concern has become staying relevant and chasing streaming numbers, rather than releasing quality music. He's really become the embodiment of quantity over quality. I think a retirement from that kind of mindset, and all the stress and pressures that come with it, and a shift back towards making solely the music that he wants to make, on his own schedule, could be good for him. I think he has one more Take Care or IYRTITL left in him.

Drake needs to make his own Yeezus or 808's and Heartbreak, he has the ability to be so experimental and change the game completely. He is on the top of the game and probably his game too and he needs to inspire himself and move himself to making that happen unlike Honestly, Nevermind. Drake can do it, and I really hope he does it, but he just really needs to take his time on the album instead of making it sound rushed like Honestly Nevermind. Drake is literally at the peak to change the game and hit the game so hard that he will leave an even bigger mark on Hip-Hop culture. I think the quote "did you get into music to be creative? Or to be the top guy in a rap popularity contest" sums up the majority of artists that are becoming mainstream nowadays. You can clearly see the strike contrast between someone who is genuinely making music to express themselves, or to just make a quick hit that makes a good chunk of change. That's the majority of artists in any genera. Kendrick Lamar vs Lil Pump for example. Kendrick expresses himself to the best of his ability, and genuinely takes time to hone and perfect his craft while making music. Lil Pump put on a 2min loop screamed GUCCI GANG and D.ROSE for the entirety of the loop, uploaded it, got lucky, popped off over night and fell off harder than Kanye. Talent vs no talent. Its very clear

Lil pump definitely had talent. People tend to forget that it’s MUSIC, not poetry or literature. I dislike Kendrick and would listen to lil pump any day before anything by Kendrick. Pump has great tunes, flow, tone, it’s catchy in a rhythmic way. Pump doesn’t make his own bears btw, it’s many great and talented producers. Simple doesn’t mean bad. Nor is it wrong to write party lyrics that aren’t socially conscious. Kendrick can be pretentious, sanctimonious, and seems to lose sight of what matters most which is the MUSIC. Many rappers including pump can compose verses with more interesting verses with melody , rhythm, hooks, far superior to Lamar.

He should go whatever direction he feels is appropriate. If he wants to carry on, very well. My only personal note would be to just show a little growth and diversity in the music. I do think the man is talented and can create an album that would be a 10 whether in our opinions or Fantano’s if he applied himself more and sought different ideas and inspirations. However, if he gracefully exits, that’s good as long as that is what he truly wants to do. It’s a nice sentiment to consider stepping aside and letting Nav take the reins.

I think in reality he will take a break for a few years max calling it retirement and pop back up. I don't think that would be a bad thing honestly. I feel like he's kind of reached the peak of what he can do right now for a while. Maybe a Drake comeback a few years from now would be great but honestly he is one of the few artists I consistently listen to I don't care for mumble rap and I think that's where a lot of rap is at rn. But I do think he is kind of burning out right now when it comes to quality I liked her loss but it's nothing we haven't seen before Honestly never mind was just yikes. I think drake needs to be a little more creative because he's really been riding the same wave since about 2010 it's time for a change or evolution would be nice if he experimented more with different sounds like kanye.

There’s a leak of his on youtube called “these days” that’s a bit long and dragged out, but i think the sound and the core elements, and specifically the writing are very nice. Here's my opinion on this, and its quite a simple concept, really: people should retire when they're on top of their game. Andre 3K did it, and its considered a GOAT by most. Eminem should have, even if I personally enjoy his last bodies of work. There's a sense of elegance in just leaving when you're desired, wanted, and cherished instead of being forced to leave because you're no longer necessary.

Maybe he can collab with some younger artists and put out a record featuring a bunch of artists who have been influenced by drake’s music. I’d also like to see him make smaller projects, and pick his producers more carefully. Imagine Drake working with Pharrell or Madlib? I would love nothing more then a 28 minute LP, each song carefully curated by a producer and placed deliberately in the track list. I would listen to that album 1000x over before I listen to Views again.
