I saw a couple of videos of her singing years ago when she was such a tiny girl and she was already absolutely INCREDIBLE!!!!!!!!
Exactly, she just sings the song. Her toolbox of vocal techniques is overflowing, but she only uses the tools she needs for a particular song. She's NOT throwing out whistle tones or super low notes for no reason other than to showoff her skills. It's all about using those techniques to express emotions. Singing is not an Olympic event!!!

73 years old here; used to be a single act in bars and lounges throughout the Lower Mainland of British Columbia, Canada, and I've never been moved by a singer the way that Angelina Jordan moves me. She's absolutely unique, and a precious jewel for the ages. I'm just happy that I've managed to stay alive long enough to fully enjoy her. And as you say, after listening to an Angelina song, it's almost impossible to listen to anyone else. They simply fade into the background noise and are really just filling time until the next AJ song gets clicked on.
I’ll never forget the first time I heard her sing this song. I was stunned that a 12 year-old girl could sing with such beauty and emotion. Her problem challenge is to find the right music. She loves old jazz songs, but that’s a small subsection of today’s market.

I too had never heard this before Angelina, I researched Lana and she is a fine singer songwriter, but if I want to listen to the song I would gravitate to Angelina's version. Thumbs up Michael, appreciate your reaction.
One of my favorite covers of hers. She doesnt sing in that low register enough as far as im concerned. Incredible voice. I wish her great success in the coming years.

I think she was 12 here. This is one of my many favorites of hers. There was a question as to whether she was actually singing this because the mike was hiding her mouth, so you will notice that after this song she is always shot from the side so you can see her mouth while singing.
There is no question in my mind that she is singing this! Her voice is so undeniably unique! As soon as she starts singing you know it's her! Nobody on the planet sings like Angelina!

The REAL ANGELINA has 1000 voices, is a prodigy, a Mozart of musicality, a musical mind that hears the greatest songs ever written, reimagines them and synthesizes them through her heart and soul into combinations of sounds, vocals, timbres, tones that cut through a listeners ears right to their souls.
AJ can shape her voice like Louis Armstrong played the trumpet, changing, shifting, creating new and splendid sounds and variations that are so pleasing to the human ear and soul that people of all ages, sexes, races and nationalities are profoundly touched and affected in ways no other singer EVER has. Add to that her confidence and fearlessness to take classics and rearrange them completely, making them her own while still paying homage and tribute to the original artists. NO ONE ALIVE has these unique combinations of talents, all wrapped up in a humble, loving caring teenager that speaks multiple languages, performs barefoot, and has given millions to charity. I had to listen to the original. No reason to do that again. Angelina owns it for me.
The beautiful, graceful use of her hands, in this video and others (like "Stay" and "Feeling Good"), is always enchanting and captivating, the way they help her interpret the song along with her stunning vocals! It's almost like she's casting a spell! Oh, wait! She did!

She is always captivating, almost hypnotic,: she is probably the most interesting vocalist to watch, as well as listen to. She is never theatrical, she just commands your attention in the gentlest of ways and you're under her spell almost without noticing. It's uncanny, really. 😎

Great, great comments! So true. The point you made about listening to someone else after her is right on. To me, after I listen to any artist (and enjoy them) I say to myself. "That was very good. But, you're not as good as Angelina." And, MIchael, musically speaking she is at the top level already AND, when we include what a wonderful person she is, where do we put her then?
Don't consider the views, etc., she gets because those numbers are no indications or reflections of how good she is. She still hasn't been officially marketed to the world yet and there are so, so many people who haven't discovered her yet. And, Michael, when they get the opportunity to listen to her will we expect those people to act any differently then us?
She's amazing, any age, any song, its all captivating.

That's just your subjective opinion. Of course, you are totally right and I share your opinion. In fact, considering what the professionals have said,, after listening to her, our opinions may also be objective. Angelina does Lana del Ray the same way she does Adele, Rhianna, and so many others. Better. It's almost like so many of the industry's famous artists exist just to write great songs for Angelina. The puzzling part is, many of her best performances have been of songs that were created more than 50 years before her birth. How did they know?

This was a mega hit song for Lana Del Rey but Angelina's low register
singing ability is unbelievable, and especially to be present in such a
young girl.

they are at a distinct disadvantage to someone who is 'rooted' in the genre
and thereby able to apply more emotion laden penetration to a heartfelt ballad
like Angelina is able to do.

Hi, Michael! Thank you for another excellent reaction to Angelina. As others have commented,this was recorded in her Music Corner at home, when she was 12. 2018 was a very busy and productive year for this astonishing young girl. She had two or three concerts in Norway, uploaded in excess of 20 songs to RUclips and still managed to attend school, play with her sister, Juliette who was 6 at that time, and record her CD "It's Magic". Her work ethic is astounding.
From what we’ve seen of this angel’s work ethic, focus, determination, and drive, she has “success” written all over her - both now and future!
The raspiness of her voice and the resonates tone is one of her unique trademarks, so you can hear it's Angelina . But she added a lot of new skills until today for a very unique rich Voice. Never heard before 😎💕

You nailed it. Her intoxicating voice cannot be explained. There is something about it that no one can adequately describe or define.
She has some special kind of greater knowledge on how to precisely make everything about her singing voice remarkable. Her skill set is astounding. But the way she mixes, molds and shapes everything is baffling and fascinating.
Then there is the enormity of her added adorability. How is it possible for such an immense talent to also be so adorable.
There's no one else like Angelina. There is something else involved.

Great comments. For me it’s another very familiar song where i actually hear the lyrics for the first time.
I believe Lana Del Rey's song is about a relationship (We) that was doomed from the start ("You and I, We Were Born to Die."). I have read that Angelina changed some of the lyrics (as she often does) because they were not appropriate for someone of her age. I have not done a comparison to see if this true.
It took me awhile to like AJ, because sometimes she doesn't always sound gorgeous like when she sleighed Suspicious Minds. As for Lana Del Rey, I never even heard her sing, and only knew 2 things about her, her first name was like the singer I knew, loved and imitated,and Del Rey dated the cop from Live PD! Anyway, Lana, this one, her voice is ok, but AJ has a really nice tone. And she is no Whitney, but she is only 16 and I like her tone probably the 2nd best this 66 year old woman has ever heard! If only she always enunciated and didn't cackle, but it's her style, I just don't care for it, but this girl could kill your mother and people would excuse her and love her, anyway!!!

very well said , Angelina just takes a song and delivers it in a way that just sucks you right in and makes you feel the song to your core . The great artists throughout time strive for that and Angelina just leaves me in awe constantly at how effortless it seems for her .
