    This Military does not need any more money, I was a Tanker for the M1A2 Abram Tanks and we literally had Brand new tanks in a Desert at Fort Irwin just sitting there never used and Rusting. We had more Toys then we could Train with or ever Fucking use. If you Dont know a M1A2 Abrams tank Costs US$8.92 million and each Round we Fired was $3,000. I would Literally drive out to the Desert and Piss away 20 to 50 Rounds some Days bc we were Just Bored. You all Paid $60,000 to $150,000. They Call it Training but we literally had more Rounds then we knew what to do with and we knew we would get more. Please do not Give the Military more money you are not paying for Defense you are paying for me and my Buddy's to piss money away

      My things is, if they are gonna pour more money into the military, instead of buying equipment that’s just sitting there, why not pay these soldiers more since they are, ya know, risking their lives for fat rich people in wars they were sent to by said rich fat people. Especially for the LGBTQRSTUVWXYZ soldiers risking their lives for the freedoms of said rich fat people to vote them out of the military.

      Yeah I've read about that, that spending isn't really for the millitarys sake but for the towns in which the factories are located.
      They say its for national security but it's classic pork barell spending.
      I don't think a bit of cash infusing into a region is a bad thing, but atleast fund something that can potentially carry its own in the long run.
      There is probably also a lot of state and local rail or other infrastructure dream projects, that could potential tie outlying regions together.

    Who looks at the most bloated military budget on the planet and goes "I think that needs more money"?
    It is so wasteful to pour even more money into defense. We already have more than enough resources to fend off any threat. We have global warming and declining education standards to worry about, we don't need to forget about those and get 40 shiny new jets. Education should be our primary focus, especially considering 50% of our PhD candidates are foreign.

      Common core is garbage and is a complete waste of money. But we have schools that can't afford things that the students need or that are cutting extra curricular activities just so that they can pay their teachers. The department of education needs to be funded and needs to funnel the money into schools. We don't need their input on the system, we need them to allocate funds where they are necessary.
      There's no way to look at the country's education statistics and not be concerned.

    • @strongside4565
      @strongside4565 7 лет назад +3

      It has been relatively underfunded for years. Throwing money at the shitty organization isn't working because they aren't funding schools, they are blowing it by coming up with stupid shit like common core. It needs to be funded well, but it also needs to be restructured. It needs to be a meanings to distribute money to schools and come up with overarching changes that benefit schools. They treat education like a business and thus it is failing.

    • @ndi4926
      @ndi4926 7 лет назад +49

      Yes, anti-intellectualism, but hey, they are incredibly efficient at it for all their Bible-thumpiness.
      NASA has _nothing_. NASA, itself, is a fountain of money that the best minds of the world come to drink from. The US produces little gray matter (no offense), most of the tech in the US was invented by people that were imported. Look through the greatest inventions from '50s to '80s and count the truly american names. Exactly. Look though the Nobel Prize winners and cut the people whose parents weren't Americans. Exactly. I'm not saying it's zero, I'm saying the glory days were purchased.
      Without the money, NASA is going away.
      EU now has good support for science, they have proven with the LHC and the new satellite launch suite and the new tech that they can and will fund science, and that has curbed export of gray matter _severely_. Even more, the EU has had the foresight to bring tech and research to each and every country, so no matter how poor a country is they won't have to export their very best. After US's SpaceX managed to launch at a smaller cost than Ariane 5 (ESA), EU has taken it to heart and are designing Ariane 6, due to enter service 2020, with a design budget of 3.2 billion Euro. No offense, but this isn't going to be pretty. The changes so far already turned the tide of the market toward ESA. A company can't compete with a continent. It just can't. The only thing that has a chance to compete with the EU is the US. And I mean all of it, government-funding level.
      China is coming too. Korea, Japan, Taiwan, they are coming too. India, too. It's a race. Everyone is running.
      De-funding NASA is the worst move you could ever have done. Instead of having the shining beacon of tech, where everybody goes, now the beacon is dim. Instead of recruiting from 2.5 billion people, you now recruit from 300M. Who's going to leave theit home and house and family and move across the planet to work for a regular-ass private space agency when their own home has one?
      Don't get me started on that self-driving-into-walls shit or that vacuum tube shit they keep trying to build. No offense, but without government oversight shit simply won't be efficient and you can't stop some dude from living out fantasies.
      De0funding NASA is the worst move, ever, for your future. Or, you know, the best, since I'm not American.

      I always like to think it's important not just to defend a country, but to maintain the parts of it that are worth defending. Like, say... health, charity, compassion, culture... oh, and the environment. "The country that destroys its soil, destroys itself", besides which concrete and factories don't replenish oxygen so well... nor do they absorb carbon and turn it into wood that provides shade and can later be used for stuff, if necessary. Trees are neat, seriously. And how many people would want to live in a world where flowers no longer exist? Or fresh fruits and vegetables you could grow in a community plot, or your backyard if you like?
      Businesses take care of their bottom line, their shareholders and their directors. Everything else is either the state, or random people working for free... which, with all those "beneficial" big businesses holding the reins of a society, people won't be able to afford to do in most cases, even if they want to. Free time is for people who can't be easily replaced if they burn out! Which loops right back to keeping lots of people poor - nice, cheap source of replacements for the cynical fucks at the top to keep shoveling into the grinder.

    • @A_A610

      Consistently red states take in way more federal aid than consistently blue states. Hence why these cuts have serious repercussions considering the states that rely more on that aid are the ones who voted for a president that's slashing that aid into oblivion.

    • @elsonlam
      @elsonlam 7 лет назад +123

      Ian, The top 10 states that send more money to the fed than they take out are blue states. 9 of the 10 states that take the most are red states. And about 55% of Obamacare users are republicans as oppose to about 35% democrats.
      Anyway, back to the topic. The republican politicians have spent the last few decades convincing the poor white republicans (the working poor) that the (legal and illegal) immigrants are stealing their jobs and the blacks are lazy and collecting welfare. When confronted with the fact that they're are on welfare as well, most of them believe that they're the exception few who actually work hard but are victims of circumstance. So they vote for the party that promises to limit immigration deport illegal immigrants. They think once those people are gone, their piece of the pie gets larger. The fact of the matter is, technology is changing faster than we can create replacement jobs.
      Look at the numbers. Between 2000 and 2016, we lost 22% of our manufacture jobs (went from 23ish mil to 17ish mil). Yet, the manufacture output in America is at an all-time high. You can blame outsourcing all you want, but the fact of the matter is, why would manufacture companies continue to pay hourly wages for human workers when they could pay a 1 time fee for machines. Same thing with the coal sector. A 1 time fee for solar panels will eventually be cheaper than paying per watt to coal plants.
      Of course, some people need somebody to blame. They need a savior. Enter Trump, the outsider. He's not part of the establishment that has failed them over and over. The conman convinced them that he alone will limit new immigrants, deport illegal immigrants, cut wasteful spending that go to "lazy people." In their desperation, they didn't realize that they're in the same category as those "lazy people."

US has the most military assets, highest military funding, best technology and a huge number of allies, many very powerful. In addition US has been dragged into so many conflicts over the years that their collective military experience is unbelievably vast. You will have to look really deep to find even a single reason to justify increased military funding.
      However, US does have a LOT of enemies.

      Sadly, that is the problem. We HAD a huge number of allies. At the rate trump is insulting not only actors, the press, union leaders, department stores,....etc., he still for some reason feels the need to attack the countries (via twitter of course) that used to back us up. The man is starting to make me worry even more than I was when he was elected. And I had so hoped that he would grow up. SAD!

      Our military budget only pays for a small fraction of actual military hardware. Most of it likely goes to either paying people or paying for development programs which go nowhere, but hey, as long as the CEO of those weapon companies get their due.

      you are quite right Tripping Pug. when the fact that one fourth of the globes total wealth is located within the U.S. the complete collapse of the nation would at best cripple the worlds economy for well over a century. at worst cause a dramatic shift in the global power balance. as most of the worlds economy is tied up with the U.S. most modern powers would collapse right along with it with no economy to maintain their power status. this would result in a dramatically different group being in power a century from now. if the U.S. goes down europe will be decimated, along with the entire south american continent, australia, south africa, saudi arabia, these would all collapse right along with the U.S. simply because of the void left in the economy. the major players of 2150-2200 could be anyone. Ethiopia, north Korea, and Indonesia could be the big powers to emerge after a century dark age as the world recovers from complete economic collapse.
      bottom line, the U.S. falls, and it drags the whole world kicking and screaming with it. so believe me when i say, hate it or not, you want them to succeed. not just for our sake's but the sake of the next several generations.

    As a foreign student in agricultural engineering, making cuts in Agricultural and Environmental Departments is suicide, especially in a country which is looking for protectionism and independance. We are having trouble producing food all other the world, farmers have been witnessing the effects of climat change for a couple of years now. If the USA don't want to produce in an environmental friendly way, at least they need to go full on GMO's in order to have viable crops and survive without importing from other countries. If they continue down this path, they will starve in a couple of decades. If this budget passes, it is a long-term tragedy.

      Everything he says and everything he'll do, that general statement turns out to be much more faults than Hillary could've ever had, Trump is like George W. Bush's wet dream, when it comes to being worst modern president. Trump, so far, is on par with Nixon or Andrew Johnson. He's actually sort of a blend of those two, so we can say he's like a Andrew Nixon, a treasonous, completely incompetent, asshole, that doesn't belong anywhere near a presidency. With any luck, he'll end up the same as Andrew Johnson, impeached and branded the new "lamest of lame-duck presidents" that Johnson had earned in his time.

    • @thaddeusgenhelm8979
      @thaddeusgenhelm8979 7 лет назад +8

      Oh, this one is easy! Let me handle it, and, since both sides tend to do it, it's the simplest maneuver to identify in the world!
      -----
      This person doesn't agree with me.
      My positions are well considered and thought out (which I know because they are my positions).
      Therefore someone who does not agree with me is not thinking through their positions properly.
      Smart people think through their positions properly.
      Therefore people who do not agree with me are not smart.
      ----
      Granted, most people don't really bother to realize that that's the thought process they're using, but generally speaking, if someone jumps in and just calls someone "not smart" or "stupid" with the divine art of no evidence and/or just with the presumption that their lack of intelligence is self evident is likely to be using just this great logical progression! It even is internally logically consistent! Of course, points 2 or 3 are likely not to be true, so the entire chain is inapplicable to reality, but has that ever stopped anyone?
      (Rhetorical question: No it hasn't)
      And, of course, some groups are worse about it than others, but watch for easy buzzwords like "Sheep," (an easy way to disregard entire groups of people who don't agree with you. Not bothering to understand others has never been so easy!) and other terms suggesting that the person doesn't have enough mental acuity to form their own decisions and therefore are just mindlessly following a leader those individuals find charismatic. And, obviously, since *you* don't find those leaders charismatic, it further demonstrates just how inferior they are to you!
      And, obviously, not everyone does this. And if you don't, that's great! I love people who try to actually understand other people's thought processes rather than rely on lazy labels so you don't have to. And if anyone finds themselves offended because they totally do these things and I'm insulting them, well, I have something to say about that.
      *Ahem.*
      I find your disregard for the potential for you to be mistaken, or the potential of others to have good ideas you haven't realized yet, unhealthy both for society and your personal intellectual growth. Please consider no longer behaving in such a self destructive manner. Thanks!

    • @thaddeusgenhelm8979
      @thaddeusgenhelm8979 7 лет назад +2

      Oh, as I said, I hardly apply it to everyone, if I insisted it was universal, or even a constant for every single person, I would be doing the exact thing I'm objecting to, and I try to avoid recursive self shaming.
      And I, further, have no objections, really, to someone saying "I don't like what group X is trying to do/pushing for." Objecting to the actions of a group of people is entirely reasonable. I tend to get testy if, say, one declares that everyone in the group must be, in some way, mentally deficient. I'll admit, I don't understand how other people think a lot of the time, but unless I can really get them to lay out their logic or thought processes for me, it's hard to check for flaws there.
      Though I will say, Trump is actually an easy target because he's inconsistent in small enough time frames that it's not particularly reasonable to expect he's sincerely changed his mind in that period of time, or, alternatively, if he has, that he actually cares much about the issue if he changes his mind so easily and ambivalently. Does that, strictly, in and of itself make him "stupid?" I don't think so, but it does make me feel he's not the sort of person who should be running a country as that level of ambivalence, or lack of competence, or political shilling, or whatever (I'm not going to state I know what leads to it, but there does seem to be a finite set of options!) does not lead to an effective leader who makes consistently good quality decisions.
      Or, to make it short: I don't know if he's stupid, but whatever qualities lead to his actions, I certainly agree he shouldn't be running a country, nevermind the US.

    • @223Drone
      @223Drone 7 лет назад +1

      Liddle Linkin They defend everything he does, even now. Whenever you ask questions about Trump, they just bring up the Clintons, even though they do not even matter anymore. It is immensely frustrating. I think there is literally nothing Trump could do that would sway his supporters.

      Everyone with a little insight knows that the support from Trump supporters isnt based on "facts". To assume people voted for him based on real instead of imaginary issues ignores how human psychology from primitive people works.
      Your baseline trump supporter doesnt care about corruption, employment, social security.
      He/she only cares about restricting immigration even to the their detriment, lower taxation, god and religion, and of course screwing over the other half of the population, liberals.
      They arent even bad financially, so they can afforid it.
      This has absolutetly nothing to do with "See 'Trump did this or that".
      They dont care. They are the deplorables.
      Only a tiny minority really cares about these issues, and that minority lost hillary the election, which she lost because she didnt care about these people.

    We have 4,804, far more nuclear weapons than the entire world needs. Our military spending is roughly 4-5 times what Russia is. WE DONT NEED A BIGGER MILITARY BUDGET! What happened to getting along with Putin? He talked so much about getting along with Putin, then why would we need to compete with him in military might? Especially considering we're already the world superior in military strength. If he's cutting the state department budget because they don't see involvement in future conflicts (Which lets face it is complete BS) then why the $54 billion dollar increase to our military spending alone? None of his fiscal plans make any reasonable sense in practice or in explanation...

    Some perspective on US military spending:
    The US, with only *4.5* *percent* of the world population spends *almost* *half* of all world military spending...
    Does that seem excessive, especially if it means we're going to cut spending on other equally important things like food for poor people, education for children, and protection for our environment?
    2015, the latest year the world bank has an estimate on the Global World Product (i.e. the sum of all goods and services that the world produces) and how much of it was spent on military spending (all converted to nominal US dollars):
    GWP (2015): *78.28* *trillion* *USD*
    World spending as % of GWP: *2.269* *percent*
    World military spending (2015): *1.776* *trillion* *USD*
    Converting world military spending to billions of dollars: *1776* *billion* *USD*
    US military spending in (2015):
    DoD: *631.3* *billion* *USD*
    VA: *158.5* *billion* *USD*
    Foreign military aid: *14.1* *billion* *USD* (i.e. giving weapons or equipment as direct transfer)
    Foreign economic aid: *34.4* *billion* *USD* (i.e. giving money the recipient nation will use to buy military weapons or equipment)
    Total US military spending in 2015: *839.9* *billion* *USD*
    Percentage of world military spending done by the US in 2015: *47.29* *percent!!!*
    These numbers (percentage of world spending) are generally consistent from year-to-year.
    And *half* isn't enough?
    Really?
    And to increase our military spending we're going to cut programs like the corporation for public broadcasting? The national endowment for the arts and humanities? The State Department and USAID? The Environmental Protection Agency? Everything but "Defense" spending and immigration and border control?
    All so we can increase our over spending on the military?
    In 2015 the US amounted to only *4.52* *percent* of the worlds population...
    So why are we spending almost half of the worlds military spending?
    Oh, and notice this is just federal military spending. Each of the states have spending obligations towards the National Guard that isn't captured in the federal budget. So we're probably well over half of the worlds spending for military purposes.
    How much is enough?
    When is this just some crazy form of paranoia, not a legitimate and reasonable concern about national defense?

      Ussr kills Europe in less than a month
      China kills its neighbors in less than a month
      Us now has to protect 50% of the world without powerful militaries,

    I'm really not sure why President Trump's supporters are surprised, it was obvious he was going to govern this way...
    I didn't think it would be responsible to let that happen and that's why I didn't vote for him.
    I didn't much care for Secretary Clinton but the real choice we had of Clinton or Trump really did seem to have a "wrong answer" - and I suspect it's increasingly clear which candidate that was.
    I get the sense that a lot of the people that did vote for President Trump did so because they thought it would upset the Clinton supporters; I saw this a lot during the campaign and shortly after the election: the idea that Trump supporters didn't feel "respected" enough and now maybe the "liberal snowflakes" or "cucks" or "libtards" (etc...) will "just get over it" because "they lost" and the Trump supporter's "won" - etc...
    I really hope this experiment you all set in motion works out okay... But I'd like you to keep in mind you own the terrible outcomes that are inevitably going to happen. When those terrible things were only supposed to effect others you were okay with it, but now that it's going to begin effecting you too - that's when you'll find your outrage? I wonder if galling hypocrisy will be covered once the ACA is repealed?
    Having our entrenched two party system, with one party now controlled by the most selfish and myopic electorate in modern history, has led us to this point. The only way out is to have informed voters make objective decisions about what's best for the country. And it requires a more understanding about how our government works than being able to recite talking points.
    I don't intend this to be an insult, but it would be great if the people that voted for President Trump spent some time learning about how our government functions and what we collectively spend our tax money on before they make any more decisions about which elected official is best to run that government.
    The bottom line is the average conservative supporter that voted for President Trump has been conned, in much the same way that progressive voters were conned when they voted for President Obama. In Obama's case they thought they had elected a change agent that would lead a progressive revival - didn't happen... But at least we got a moderate out of it... In Trump's case conservatives thought they would get someone that wasn't like all of the other Republicans, and then once he gets into office he surrounds himself with the exact people the conservative voters rejected... But I don't want to hear about Clinton or Obama - the slow motion car wreck we're about to spend four years having is entirely the responsibility of Trump's supporters...

      Yea John was usually spot on about his Trump predictions like he predicted what he would do leading up to the 2020 elections and that if he was winning early he would claim victory before the mail in votes were counted and then deny the results and refuse to concede. And that all of it could lead to something very dark. Which was spot on predictions for all of that. Yet the base he has right now will never catch on. So pathetic that a good chunk of this country would idolize any political figure to the same level as any dictator. But 10x more pathetic that it's Trump they idolize. They are so brain dead that literal facts no longer matter. Like the indictment for stealing top secret documents. His entire base somehow thing it's a Witch Hunt that The DEMS set him up. Like how can you be that dumb when we have countless pictures of the documents being kept by him. That you tapes of him showing people the documents and that plenty of the people testifying against him are from his inner circle. Yet somehow they think the Democrats who are a shit show when it comes to being organized and having a plan. Have somehow been able to be so organized and smart that they were able to steal an election. And then frame Trump for 3 different Indictments.
